Under the ground crew com menu, you can request launch to make them go back to their catapults.

Yea no Furiz. Wikipedia pages that are not obscure are one of the most reliable sources of information these days. If you're in doubt, just go to the sources section below. That being said, op, you're not getting anywhere with all your topics

High voltage lines not visible with clouds in background

Big difference between hard to see and invisible mate -
Added to the library :)

Nice :). I'm also on the SC version. Coms have been working good for me, afaik. Been using easy coms lately though, so I guess they just auto-tune

Raven One: upcoming DLC campaign for F/A-18 Hornet
Photon replied to baltic_dragon's topic in Missions and Campaigns
Looking forward to this :) -
On mission 2 when I got close to the attack waypoint, I was told JTAC had popped red smoke, and targets was there. Found the red smoke, but there was no tanks in sight anywhere. After looking around for a short while, I got mission complete RTB. None in my flight had dropped a single weapon, so not sure what happened there. Found some burning wrecks of something in a nearby town, maybe something else took them out somehow. Also the TCN frequency in the briefing, and the one the carrier uses has a mismatch (73x vs 74x)
-
Yea, my wingman said bingo fuel at some point, so I asked him to RTB. Later he ejected anyway. Landed back at the carrier after destroying the 8 targets with the original load-out having around 3,000 in fuel, so was good in that regard

What's the maximum range for the Link 13 pod to receive proper image?
Photon replied to sirrah's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Getting the same results as most others here. First time I tried to "stand-off" as much as possible, so I launched it at max range, which was around 65 miles at my alt/spd. Controlling it from that far away however, was impossible. So yea. In Wags' video, he's like 20 miles from the target when taking over control, which makes the feed nice, but also puts you in harms way. At 30 it's still good, at 40 it's ok, at 50 it's quite bad, and at 60-70+ it's a mess. -
Been playing the first mission now. So far everything has been working good :). One question, might be in regards to wingman AI in general: How can I get my wingman to help me destroy certain targets? First mission was the Silkworm sites, but no matter what I tried to tell my wingman to do, be it engage ground targets, air defenses, mission objective etc, he wouldn't do anything. At the end I barely completed the mission, with no bombs left, and like 50 gun rounds for the last target, which thankfully hit. My wingman flew back to base with a full bomb load.

Well, the mission editor creating a wind-shear basically, at 1,600' no matter what you want, is a bit odd I would say. I think if the winds are tapering off more normally from top to bottom the bomb wouldn't get the insane wind-shift at 1,600' to deal with

Eagerly waiting :). Your guide is my go-to reference from everything regarding the Hornet! Thank you for all the hard work¨ Subscribed to your Patreon as well :)

Same here. Been testing in a custom mission with just me, a static target, and a few SLAMs, so no other interference. Been firing at around 36,000 feet. At around 30 miles it's nice, at 40 it's still ok, at 50 you can maybe make something out, but at 60-70 it looks like someone is aiming a jammer at you (tried aft and front antenna, heading straight to or away from the target). Line of sight at 36,000 feet should be well over 200 miles, so I guess they have modeled the signal to degrade rather fast? Not sure if it's realistic or not, or what kind of tech they use on the SLAM-ER which has like double the range?

I had the same problem as you. For me, it was because I had installed them as separate modules during the free month. Going to the module list and deleting them, but keeping FC3 helped

[CORRECT AS IS NOW ]Problems with TPOD control
Photon replied to DmitriKozlowsky's topic in Bugs and Problems
Makes my head spin. Flew around in a small training mission trying to designate moving vehicles with the TPOD. Had to put the cursor in front of them, wait for the car to drive underneath the cursor, and then quickly change to point-track. Hopefully one can move the cursor again after next patch, kind of like the IR Mavericks -
Really like this mission. I've gone from being all over the sky, to at least starting to get around 50 points and hitting a wire (pretty much 1 and 4 exclusively) 50% of the time :p, in a few hours of play. Hopefully the improvements will keep coming. Thank you!

Yea it explains the concept very well. People always think of wind the way we feel it on the ground, like something "flowing" in a stream. It always creates the "aha" moment, when you understand that it's just one big airmass moving, and you only feel it because you are stuck to the ground. Another way of thinking about it, is to remove the ground all together. You're flying at 10,000 feet, above a total overcast layer, so you can't see the ground anymore. The clouds are in the same airmass as you, and you don't have a groundspeed readout. In this scenario, you could not feel any difference in wind speed, be it 0 or 1000 kts (as long as it's nice an laminar). You and the clouds would be in the same airmass. If the opposite was true, I think ATC would be apprehensive about vectoring me next time I was in 150kt winds at 40,000' :p

That fishbowl on the Shinkansen analogy was a nice one, I'll make sure to use that when explaining this one day. And TOViper, what these other guys are saying is correct. If you're in a steady state wind, your maneuvers will be the same as in still air. Brgds, another RL pilot.

Think I have something similar going on right now. Been loading into several instant play single player missions with the F18. Every time I want to do gun strafing, the rounds always go way above the target. Didn't have this problem in the stable release, but seems to happen after I updated to the open beta. Edit: I've had a run where it has acted normal again now, not sure what makes it wonky. Comparing footage I took when it was off vs now, the only difference I can see is that the gun target "dot" is aligned roughly with the bottom of the altitude/airspeed boxes on the hud when the sight is off, and just over those same boxes when the sight is correct. (This is with the same plane, same mission, same everything, just pointing at the sky). Tried to make a comparison. Same plane, same mission, same stores, pretty much same altitude/airspeed/aoa etc:

Hello! I'm Jon, used to play LOMAC back in the day, but haven't really gotten back into combat flight sims for many years due to not having the computer or the time. Used to be part of a VFA-25 squadron back day, but since then it's been more arcade-sims like War Thunder etc. Now however, due to Covid, I'm out of a job for the foreseeable future. I'm a Boeing 737 pilot IRL, did my training in Florida, and 4 years of bushflying in Indonesia. Looking forward to delving back into combat flight sims :)

Hello! I'm looking for a squadron, who plays at least partly in the EU timezone. About me: I'm a Boeing 737 pilot IRL, but due to Covid19, I'm now furloughed. So for the foreseeable future I'm sitting at home playing games 24/7 (minus sleeping and eating :p). I do have quite a few hours in combat flight sims, mostly LOMAC back in the days, where i was part of a VFA-25 squadron, but that's a long time ago, and I've lost most of my knowledge about it. At the moment I'm trying to learn all I can about the F-18, recently got myself a new HOTAS, and the TrackIR should be arriving this week :). Looking for a fun and relaxed squadron !
