  1. I have them both. My personal choice between the two is that I would be happier in hindsight spending my money on the F16 if I could only have one. Both have pros and cons. I am sure regardless you will be happy with either one. They are a generation apart when it comes to the systems and technology so it depends what you expect from the airframe. Here is the real caveat when filling in your dream sheet: PICK THE MISSION NOT THE AIRCRAFT. So - what do you want to do in the thing is how you should pick. Good luck - and happy flying!
  2. Looks great! Much respect to people capable of putting something like this together. Definitely some happy flying to come in that baby!
  3. Welcome! I am sure you have hours and hours of fun ahead of you. Welcome aboard and Happy Flying!
  4. I play this game to be as accurate as security allows. If the block of F16 we have modelled in the game has a capability then we should as well. If the block of F16 we have in the game does not allow certain capabilities then we should not have it as well... This is very simple and I fail to see an issue. Do we want our cake, eat it AND have sexy time with the baker? I mean - come on, man!
  5. I don't recall every step but what is missing is in the advanced waypoint options I suspect. Let's see... Pick a refueling type plane and set it's task as a REFUELING. This is done in the main screen when you place the airframe on to the map. Look at the advanced waypoint option - you should see "Tanker -a -ref" as you have already set it's task. You need to activate a TACAN on the refueler as well: PERFORM COMMAND - Set the TACAN value. Channel X or Y and the channel. 3 letter callsign ARC TEX TKR whatever best relates to the callsign you chose for the refueler when you placed it on the map. This is what shows up in your HSI top left corner when you set your plane to the refueling planes TACAN to find it. Set the UNIT to the same value as the PILOT name on the right side. If you drop the list down it should see NOTHING or the pilot name - choose the pilot name. Another Advanced Waypoint Option: Perform Task : Set the ORBIT - You can set the pattern (racetrack or circle) and the speed here - note the speed of orbit and speed when you placed the airframe should match - say 300 kts or so. I think this should basically get you there. There are some good vids on youtube for setting up tankers if I missed something. Russian planes do not normally have a TACAN. Good luck and happy flying!
  6. I see in the Ebay ad it says, "May not post to Canada". Is this a cost related prohibition? Asking out of curiosity as I am in Canada but I would be interested. Did you find it was a real enhancement to gaming or more of a novelty? I have always been curious of these things but have no experience with them. Cheers! Happy flying. May not post to Canada
  7. Start doing some chores and whispering sweet nothings in her ear - then get a HOTAS. I have the warthog (and I am not recommending that based on cost alone though it is excellent) BUT what I am saying is keep in mind that a HOTAS that has a split throttle, such as for two engines, would allow you (in a helicopter setting) to use one side for the throttle and one side for the collective. Then with the stick and, yes, rudder pedals, you have yourself basically covered for choppers. Good luck and happy flying.
  8. Cheers, Glyn. I didn't think it was. I have made many missions myself and had not encountered it before. I thought perhaps it was something to do with DCS updates since the last update/release of this campaign but I am by far an expert on the MB/Scripting. I am going to finish off the last 2 missions now (I hope *lol*) and let's see if the issue persists. Regardless, I thank you for your time creating content and also for taking a moment to touch base via the forum. Appreciated. Stay safe and happy flying! Oozler (r/n) Glen
  9. Excellent. I figured a little thing could help. I imagine this takes care of the altitude but not the mis-alignment of the INS. I have tried shutting right down and doing a cold start as well as trying to update the airframe position via tgtdsg on a waypoint and updt then dsg then acpt also tried via tcn to no avail. However, getting a start on sorting out the altitude at least will motivate me to just push through it and finish off the campaign. Frankly, I should have thought of that myself but I thank you sincerely Pio for taking the time to give me a push in the right direction. Thank you and happy flying!
  10. On mission 5 I start on the carrier and altitude (baro) is -410 feet. The HUD ladder is misaligned to the far left on the previous mission (4) and on this one (5) as well. Should it not start on baro for altitude and say 70 or on radar, for that matter, and say 0? I find this a little frustrating and am not sure why this is happening.
  11. Lots of guides to using laser designation on Youtube. You will find it very helpful to search something like, "DCS F18 GBU12' or "DCS F18 Laser designation" or "DCS F18 TPOD". A video will be much easier showing you in a minute to see what step you may be accidentally overlooking - I have found them very helpful at times myself. Good luck and happy flying
  12. I love the F-18 hornet and have absolutely no regrets on my purchase. I fly it ALL the time - fav airframe in the game. You will not be sorry whenever you jump in.
  13. Perhaps this is more a sign of CPU core limitations (single core utilization) currently programmed in DCS and not GPU? I am no expert so throwing that out there as food for thought.
  14. Not that technical unfortunately. I once saw an old site where a guy would do them for you but that was long gone and no luck... Maybe one day I can do something with them. They sure were a nice controller - I loved it when I first got it as at the time it was the bee's knees - the cats pajamas. I use a Thrustmaster warthog now.
  15. I have always thought they should make a version of FC with WW2 aircraft to get more people interested in that era. I would purchase that gladly even though I am a fast jet kinda guy.
  16. I have one of these and the throttle from years ago. I have always wanted to get it working again but do not have the technical know how. You are lucky you do - too bad we are not neighbors - lol. Was it expensive to get the hardware to do the modification to get it functional again? Thanks and happy flying!
  17. Make sure you are on F-18(Sim). First step hit the "Axis Assign" button on the bottom row of buttons and then on that screen go to the spot to assign the "Throttle Designator Controller - Horizontal" and "Throttle Designator Controller - Vertical" and assign the TDC slew there. (I double left click to bring up the actual assignment screen). If this is what you did then I apologize for repeating something you know. All the best. Good luck and happy flying.
  18. Same boat. F18 setup requires a third. Depends on cost.
  19. "Cool to buzz the beaches of Normandy in a fighter..." - Then do it. All the aircraft are good to go with any of the maps, whether they historically or logically fit or not. At the end of the day we define our fun. All planes all maps all together anytime. It all works. Have fun and happy flying!
  20. FYI: I posted a response on this doubled thread here:
  21. I would imagine this has to do with the VR headset setup and where it feels the 'floor' is. I have a rift S and in the setup it says to lower the controller to the floor height to establish this for the VR experience. I imagine the G2 might be similar. Thus what needs to happen is a way in the configuration to change the floor setting. For example, if I were to hold the controller over my head somehow while setting the floor level then I would appear below the 'floor/ground' in game. Now the floor level in game is normally set to what amounts to the floor of the cockpit and thus why it appears you are floating when standing outside the cockpit area. Changing the floor level below this would put you way under the cockpit floor level and more in line with ground level... OR Hell. Land your aircraft, punch out and when you hit the ground walk over to the aircraft sitting there and do a walk around - that gets you to ground level as well. Best regards, have a great 2021 and happy flying, amigo!
  22. I had DCS on an older system and played for a while. Then came computer issues and time for upgrades, however I did not have the cash to make a huge plunge. I did continue to get some modules here and there along the way as I waited to get the cash together for a new system and the peripherals to go with it - not to mention a VR setup. In the end, I finally did get the new system, the VR setup, the Warthog throttle and stick, and I made my own basic cockpit. When I was flying again I had a hangar full of aircraft that I had never even flown for 1 second. Talk about hog heaven! So - the moral of the story - YES - I was in your shoes and I kept at it and now I am running the game on a dream machine and having the time of my life with it. Thank you Eagle Dynamics! Soon, Allen, I am sure you will be in action too! Have a great day and (when you get the chance) happy flying!
  23. The Super Carrier (SC) is it's own module so it will not replace other carriers in pre-existing missions you may be running. Edit a mission and swap out the new SC or make a quick new mission in the editor and add the SC to the mission. Then you should have no problems seeing the carrier and enjoying the experience. Note: If editing an existing mission make a back up first so if something does get pooched the original mission isn't toast. Good luck and happy flying!
  24. Follow-up: So I experimented a bit with the PD setting in the VR Settings. IPD in R/L is 66 mm. So I had it to that in the game. I tried 45 and everything looked huge. Way too big. I went to 55 and it looked a little too big still compared to real life appearance. I settled on 60 and it looks really good so I have left it there.... In sum, my real life IPD is 66 and my new in-game setting for PD is 60. Cheers
  25. See! This is why I love to come to the forums and check stuff out. I will have to play around with this setting then and see what I find. Thanks for the insight....It all looks great to me with my settings now but I am always excited to try a tweak here and there. Cheers! Happy flying, y'all.
