  1. Oops! I hadn't noticed the change in format. Thanks for the clarification. Great work and much appreciated!
  2. Am I missing something? The links on Currenthill's web site no longer work for me. I see all the models listed but none of the download links are active.
  3. Fully agree.
  4. Possibly. But I removed all mods and added them back in slowly. This was the mod that created the problem in my case. Maybe this mod clashes with another mod, but since this is the mod that causes the problem for me, I have removed it.
  5. Same here. I discovered that this mod erases all ground units (esp. infantry) from both the game (F1) view and the theater map (F10). Had to remove it, which is a shame because I was fond of the JAS39. I should add that it appeared to be working until one of the recent DCS updates.
  6. You do know that forces in the real world deal with LOS all the time. The only radios that work everywhere all the time are satellite waveforms, which entail a whole other level of encryption and access time. 50W would normally be a maximum amount in an airborne unit. Not having perfect radio comma is part of the fog of war.
  7. Thanks, guys. It was, in fact, a conflict with the F-15E mod. I was aware of that I needed to get rid of any such mods, but I had failed to delete one folder and that created a conflict. Interesting that it only affected the rudder. Oh, well, all is well now. @Phantom_Mark: I always clear the ED default values in new controllers. They are worse than useless. I spend so much time deleting those default bindings. Wish they would just leave them all blank.
  8. What's up with the rudder? Most of the devices have the red exclamation mark for the rudder. The game recognizes my Thrustmaster rudder pedals, but does not map them (it sees the axis, but there is no response when moving the pedals). Windows sees the rudder pedals as do other mods in DCS, so it's something with the F-15E. In game, I have no rudder authority at all.
  9. A certain WWII flight sim that shall remain nameless has implemented a quite good, consistent, fully flexible replay system. Hmmm. How many years has this been an issue in DCS?
  10. I think I figured it out. What was confusing me was the fact that a large number of my Tech options are from mods and not ED. The mod options are always available for selection whereas the ED selections are period and country specific. So, as you suggested, if I select UK and the right time frame, then I get a British infantry man, pre-1945. Same for US and Germany. Strangely, no Soviet soldiers from the period are available. In a specific case, I created a mission for the Korean War. As such, I wanted to use Chinese soldiers with single-shot weapons. The closest you can come is semi-automatic/automatic AK-47s. I am getting around this by having the Chinese become German Mauser 98s. Inaccurate as hell, but much more balanced in terms of fire power. I just wish ED would step up their support for the Warbird era a bit more. At least they were kind enough to include some WWII missions in the latest update. Thanks for your help, all.
  11. No, that isn't it. I forgot to mention that I had the historical filter turned off. If I turn it on, (Pre-1945), the only option I have is the Infantry M1 Garand, an American soldier. That is already available without the filter. No German infantry, no British, etc. And since it is an ED module and not third party, I don't think my installation location or method is the issue. Oh, well, thank you for the reply in any case.
  12. I did not see this in another post, so perhaps no one else is having this problem: I have no WWII infantry available in the ME, or at most only the US M4 soldier. I have purchased the WWII assets pack and other items appear. Any ideas why I see no infantry?
  13. Thank you for the fix! It would have been a shame to have lost this aircraft in DCS.
  14. Can we please fix this? Can we please fix this? Can we please fix this? I'm in the middle of a mission and want to give commands to my flight. As always, there is no "spot" cursor to enable me to give the correct communications menu commands. So, as always I have to click all over god's creation to try and get my cursor back. Turns out I've opened two other windows on the desktop and my plane controls are totally unresponsive. All because of the VR cursor issue that should have been fixed by now. Really. It's been two years and the "cursor in window" curse continues. Can we please fix this? Can we please FIX THIS?
  15. I have this problem and the time has nothing to do with it. Happened after this last update. As usual, ED updates and I spend two weeks trying to make the damn thing work again.
  16. Regardless of the mechanics of this phenomenon, it is irritating and demoralizing. I wish ED would fix this. It is a major issue. I spend half of my DCS life just redoing my bindings on planes.
  17. Yes, it is all very odd. Well, it is working now and seeing the DCS.openbeta folder, so I guess I will just continue with this setup until . . . it doesn't work again. Thank you for your help, in any case.
  18. "That's not possible, since \Saved Games\ is a special folder created by Windows at the time your Windows user account was created, DCS can't create nor move it. " I am not saying that DCS made a \Saved Games\ folder in the D drive. \Saved Games\ exists as normal on the C drive, but DCS does not see the folder \DCS.openbeta\ under C:\Saved Games\. It creates a \DCS.openbeta\ folder on the same drive as the main install (D) and ignores all of the files under the \Saved Games\ folder on the C drive. DCS is working now but this is not a proper structure and probably not super stable. Attached is a log file for you to review. dcs.log
  19. Thank you, sir. That is exactly what happened. DCS somehow decided that it wanted to put the "Saved Games" folder in the same drive as the install. My install is on drive D while the Saved Games is on drive C under the user, as usual. I understand about the two folder structure, but I was confused by the game's creation of a DCS.openbeta folder on the D drive parallel to the Eagle Dynamics folder. Previous to 2.7.5, Saved Games sat happily on drive C while the main game folder sat happily on D. I do not know how this happened. The install process never asks where you want to put the Saved Games and I can find no setting in the game for changing it. Is there a file I can edit to get it to point to the C drive location? Or do I just need to move everything to the D drive location? As for two months, I have been enjoying DCS for a year and a half now. I love it and respect it, however, I end up spending half my time either resetting all my controller mappings or solving weird configuration problems like this one. Admittedly it is sometimes after a mod install but it also happens on occasion with updates. Anyway, thanks for your help.
  20. Ever since upgrading to 2.7.5, my installation of DCS is completely messed up. Bottom line: when I have a "successful" version now, this requires two install folders \Eagle Dynamics\DCS World Openbeta\ and a separate folder DCS.openbeta at the same level as \Eagle Dynamics\. All of the main files are in the \Eagle Dynamics\DCS World Openbeta\ folder. If I delete the DCS.openbeta folder, the game creates a new one every time. The game will not run under a single DCS.openbeta folder (e.g., I move all files to that folder). What is up with this second DCS.openbeta folder? Is that standard now? It appears to contain all authentication information but very little else. And now with this "new" architecture, the game does not see my Saved Games folder with mods. I have done a fresh install of the Openbeta (which took me two days to download), and still the same thing. It is the DCS World openbeta download installer that creates the \Eagle Dynamics\DCS World Openbeta structure. Why doesn't it also create the second DCS.Openbeta folder? It's the install's own DCS.exe that creates the DCS.Openbeta folder. I'm about ready to give up on DCS.
  21. Nope. Link is not working. Get a 404 error.
  22. I do not see a post on this subject, so I will start one. Does anyone else have a problem with the P-47D gun sight only turning on about one out of three times? Doesn't matter how many times I cycle the gun camera toggle switch. It either works first time or not at all. Thanks.
  23. Why does DCS redo bindings every time ED pushes an update? I get tons of bindings I never set, some of mine are deleted, there are duplicates on some or all controllers, and I always get the damn View bindings I do not want and I have to clear them one by one. No other flight simulator I have does this. Why does ED have so much difficulty with this? After every update, I spent hours redoing my bindings. VERY IRRITATING.
  24. Sadly, I fully agree with the above. I am very grateful for ED's efforts, but the clouds in VR just look bland, washed out and flat. Let's hope they find a way to improve them.
  25. Thanks for the reference Total Khaos but that does not solve the problem Boshar67 was talking about. I had used that thread to develop an embarking scenario that worked -- but only for an AI pilot. I have encountered the same problem: with an AI pilot I can get soldiers to embark and disembark just fine; with a human pilot, the soldiers just stand there and do nothing. Something is not working correctly. I don't think it's simply a matter of configuration in the ME. I also would like to know how to remedy this.
