  1. Man: don´t blind your mind with urgencys. Think a little, please: A 10600K is surely cheaper than a 9900K and a better bet. And a 2080ti right now? (that´s crazy): better wait for Ampere to get a second hand one or a better company for that upgraded CPU with Display Port 2.0 DP2.0 is probably the most important and underrated upgrade for the future of VR: It will enable hier resolution panels, HDR, Hier refreshes.... You name it: you got it. Just upgrade with logic. Just an advice. ;)
  2. I think the Gladman tips will guide you in the right direction. Your system is not that bad to actually play with some degrade visuals at 1080p I´ll try with an SSD and wait a little to upgrade if all goes well. (If you can wait untill fall 2021 you will get a hell out of an improved DCS Pc). Your CPU is a little cramped on per core brute force, but if you are good with degrading some visuals I think it will be worth the wait with an SSD only. But be aware of the bloatware acumulated on your windows over the years too. A clean install on a new SSD will be a very great improvement in all your Pc tasks. (Not only in DCS) and will pay off for sure even in the case that you find your DCS don´t improve as much as you desire. It won´t be wasted money at all.
  3. Something must to be wrong. @Peter97: have you looked if your DDR sticks are in the right place for dual channel?
  4. Those experiments will tell us how to improve things in the future. Good to know. (But try to stick to allways the same version of DCS between experiments). You know what?: I think ED touched bottom on the FPS related issues with the last updates and know that. I expect some "magical" improvements are near. I want to believe.
  5. Hey!, that webpage looks interesting. I´ll look at it too, thanks.
  6. Good. You´ll kill the time in between. The mayor changes in the industry will come around October (Septembre to November). At that time we surely will focus on AMD, Ryzen3 and whatever chipset and pairing memories that comes with it. (Not many information on that yet). That H2 will set you on fire waiting on the upgrade. Let´s see. I think Mahadaonda is near the Airport. I live near Bilbao (much better temperatures on summer, that´s for sure). Great time talking here, Thanks for your time.
  7. It seems no one it´s getting stable 70 fPS in VR right now without compromising quality. ED is working on that, though. So maybe one day. But you will likely get that shutting off shadows and maybe installing the VR shaders with your upgraded config.
  8. Yes!! And I like tech, man, but walked throught some hard years that I have finally mastered and starting to get profits from that. I´m alive and kicking right now. (I had a Commodore 128 and a couple of Amigas too) So: let´s start seriously with your asked Pc config: Are you really delaying it or you wanna buy now? I´ll do a well thought out shopping list for you in either case. You don´t need to wait if you need to buy this summer. It´s just that you better keep off your hands on the products that are so near on the refreshing cycle. But you just wait a couple of months on them and you will be fine working with an old one in the meantime. Even you can profit preordering now some things like the Reverb G2. That way you won´t feel discomfort waiting without doing nothing. I like Pc configs so just tell me (I´m from Spain and you will shop from U.K., no?.... Same components in Europe, so easy task). It´s just that the components on fall 2020 will be different, but that allways happens. (It´s like a new car, it gets instantly old when you buy one. No way to avoid that).
  9. Do you feel like you have achieved your goals of fluid immersion with your build?, becuse those FPS numbers doesn´t seem too hi compared with the FPS numbers published by other people at 1080p Are you talking on 1080p on flat screen? Something must be wrong or misunderstood by me. I mean: it have to be a great build with those components..... Are you on dual DDR4 3200 0r 3800 Mhz sticks? You need to be doing 100 FPS or more on average I think. (Not minimum, but....).... well: over 100 FPS or more on hi altitude at least.... Let´s see what other people think. (If, at least, you don´t have any stutter at low fly, that´s an improvement for sure). SSD?
  10. I was going to say just that in the post before: TrackIR for your hands. Very interesting, I´ll check that out. Maybe some day you will get one of this for your A10-C too: Thanks for the tips Andrew. At this point I´m just starting to collect info for the best inmersion setup. I left the gaming arena 20 years ago and have to come back with as much fury as I can. LOL And VR just called my attention. But I´ll have to re-start fron cero. (My old F-16 Thrustmaster throttle won´t work again for sure). I´m just aligning it all. (Even the room). So thanks for the knowledge. And it seems you are an A-10 fan, Isn´t it?.... no other planes?
  11. Yeah, man! ED needs to work hard on that VR front because it will be VR or nothing in the future in my opinion. (Sorry for people with 3D visual problems). (I´m Optometrist and sometimes help those people).
  12. That´s curious, man. I will check out that too. It feels comfortable enought or is it a work in progress? A problem with those tables and the motion platform comes to my mind. Have you seen Vtool vids with people clicking the buttons? (I think they do that using the VR controllers). Maybe with handtracking will work some day too. I like all those strange complements, LOL.
  13. Point Control?... no. What is it? ... So Jet seat looks a little as an haptic suit for Vr games: I will search a little this weekend over that Jet Seat. And @Bob1943: you probably can find free common software to operate the shakers too. (https://www.simhubdash.com/) Try iracing + shakers on youtube as the shakers are more common on racing software. But I should try them too Andrew, Thanks! It seems the software used by 6DOF is used frequently for body shakers too, so: great!
  14. So, basically, two shakers under the chair make the deal? And.... sorry: Andre´s Jet´s seat? (That´s new to me too), What´s that?, if you are so kind.... Are there different types of them?, How do you connect that? Thanks!
  15. Can you explain that a little? I mean: I can understand the inmersion of a butt kicker on the pianos on a racing sim and chaging gears, but what is the added effect on a plane? I like the inmersion of a good subwoofer but those shakers?, what are they meant for in flight sims? I know people use them but don´t understand the porpouse. Thanks!
  16. I even questioned them specifically by e-mail about motion compesation. In a H2 system it´s no t so important as on H6. And other profesional platforms have motion compensation. (I don´t want to lose the spatial axis on VR ocluding the cams on Rift-S and Reverb. And does´t work well indeed). But it seems that most people doesn´t feel the need to compensate in the "medium" movement settings of the gear. I have to give it a shoot when I´m ready.
  17. At least, a company that take care of their customers. Allways good to know.
  18. Yes: it´s almost plug&play and use an easy software. And it´s decently cheap looking at the competition. Especially the H2 version Andrew noted it´s a steal for the experience. For racing porpouses the H3 is a bargain too. (And you can upgrade later). The only missing link is motion compensation for VR headsets with inside-out tracking.
  19. It´s that good, Andrew. And for that reason you can´t buy a Rift-S now (not for Sims). Many people have preordered one in advance. But you never know: maybe in fall 2020 Oculus disclose something amazing, or Samsung.... What´s for sure is new Ryzen3, new headset, SSDs, Nividia cards, etc will be aviable near October 2020 and, if you upgrade every 5-10 years, it´s worth to wait those 3 months. If you can´t wait: buy one Intel 10600K or AMD 3800X-XT but save as much as you can for those headsets and xtra gears on fall 2020 and you will be fine too. The next big thing on VR will be mainstream 4K panels per eye, FOV increase and wireless connection (with downgraded resolution though), but that will delay one or two years more. And for that reason the Reverb G2 will be fine for the moment.
  20. We are crazy, Man, but I have to try that one.
  21. Well: those price reductions doesn´t account on new CPUs most of the times. You usually get better CPUs at the same price than the ones are replacing. But you can get same performance with less money. That´s true.
  22. Man!: I too want a 6DOF platform :megalol: Was looking on this one (the H6 one) https://dofreality.com/ :joystick: (I suspect you too). (Since the Sega Afterburner machines in my infancy, LOL) (I´m going to throw a wall and put together two rooms to accomodate that thing). And on the Reverb price: It will cost 100 $ more than a Rift-S (I think its money well spent on the better clarity).
  23. Man: you better wait a month or two for uppgrading your VR headset: everybody is waiting to get a new HP Reverb G2. You will be very happy with that and price is reasonable. (You probably can preorder now). Over the specs over a new computer for DCS: the components selected by SHU77 are a bit old by now (sorry): Better go with a new Intel 10600K or find a good deal with an 3800X AMD platform (or with a Ryzen 7 4700G landing in a couple of weeks). Look the specifications of Reece146 recent upgrade for a more actual build and adjust your wallet with that 10600K. AMD will be a little bit cheaper if you can live with a very decent but not top performance on DCS though. But, anyway, you can´t be wrong neither with AMD or actual Intel platforms. It´s only that new generation CPUs usually cost the same or less than old ones, so I will go with the newer platform as posible. Just that.
  24. I think we need DLSS 2.0 working on DCS and in VR. I think it´s only for flat screen for the moment but people are traying on supersampling the render of the image and then downgrade it to the headset resolution with no great results. It seems the contrarian aproach of using IA to upgrade the low res rendered image will aleviate the graphic bottleneck. At least it could help to focus the problem only on the eternal lack of execution refinement on the DCS core. Maybe translating to OpenXR would help? I´m sure the people at ED are very aware over the problem but it´s no easy to solve and, in general, the VR tech is in its infancy and continously evolving. Just in 2019-2020 it´s when we are getting the right mechanics on VR games. (Ones that are prevaling over many titles after lots of trial and errors). So VR is starting now to have its main gaming caracteristics that differentiate it from the flat screen games. Of course common physics and much of the other game mechanics doesn´t apply flying on a cockpit but we are trying to mimic that refinement over a game that was never designed for VR in the first place..... But feel so glorious in VR that you can´t ignore it. And things have to change to accommodate that. And that will take time because the size of the ED team. And the lack of standarization of VR isn´t helping. (You have to feel safe on anything so you can work with a timeframe in mind but it´s nonexistant in VR. It´s allways changing). I think they could resolve the problem in a year or year and a half if they really focus hard on that. But I don´t expect they can focus that hard. (Too many fronts open). Walking in VR on the insides of the Supercarrier, opening doors, etc.... It will be a great experience. And I think they wish to be able to do that. (Maybe someone should do a mod for HL Alyx on the Supercarrier, LOL).... Let´s see.
  25. Of course the clarity can be improved with better resolution panels and lenses. (A Reverb G2 for example). But the stutterings..... that´s another question..... Maybe an extraterrestial civilization may repair that. It´s not your system. That´s for sure. Turning shadows off helps a lot. Try that if you can live with lowered quality. There is even a collection of shaders to degrade visuals that may help too, but, sincerely, it seems that VR is a hard pill to swallow on flight sims. And not only in DCS. Anyway, stuttering seems to be alive and kicking on flat screens far more times than desired. This is the link for that VR Shaders thread if you want to try and give us a bit of feedback: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=215373 There is even a video resuming the thing with a couple of tricks: How bad are your FPS numbers with the Rift?
