Hi res, hi FPS VR focus in year 2021
Leaderface replied to Leaderface's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yes: they need to fix the VR problem because, I think, it will be the preferred game mode for many from now to the future. Won´t be great to climb up the ladder to your cockpit from the supercarrier desk? Even work on the clicking mechanics with the controllers or hand tracking. There are many things to improve. I said that: I won´t play the game untill a proper VR fix but, in honor of truth, almost every flight sim have problems in VR. Maybe it´s the type of game that suffer the most. I don´t know why but the problem is there. Let´s see if Star wars squadron or MSFS 2020 suffer the same VR problem or not. -

I´m not quoting you @reece146: perfect reply on your system recomendations. (And happy to hear the actual tech quality has improved so much). You can´t be specific at this time @eracer111: that´s true. Having said that Myself allready before: My future system will come with a Gigabyte Mobo and a Seasonic Power suply (a platinum one), that´s for sure. And the only thing it´s going to delay my buying decision at the end of 2020 is the approaching of DDR5, PCI 5.0 and USB4. You probably won´t get all those three things working together until the end of 2021 and that´s too many time to wait. -

Are you buying at the end of the year? You will end with a very different system by that time. Make no conjetures. Ryzen 4000 or Intel Rocket Lake (intel not expected untill first of 2021 but you never knows), New graphics cards, chipsets, Samsung SSDs, faster memorys..... (better to populate only 2 slots with double sided modules and let the free space for future upgrades). And: with that much money you could be able to add a Reverb G2 I think. Don´t build today a future system. -

Well, people smarter than me (and that is not so difficult) is working on the problem of feeding those 4K and hier resolution VR panels on the future. It seems upscalling resolutions is getting better: https://www.roadtovr.com/facebook-develops-ai-supersampling-boost-rendering-performance-high-resolution-vr-headsets/ The DLSS 2.0 on Nvidia works well allready upscalling 2x and, with more time, it seems the games could use foveated rendering and 16x supersampling in real time and transform a 960×540 rendered image on a 4K one with not much effort. Obviously Oculus is working hard on that becouse they have in mind to continue on the success of the standalone Quest, and the need to cut corners toward 4K panels was there. Amazing times guys!..... -
PC parts upgrade, need advice
Leaderface replied to Pandacat's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
1070 was the 2070 past card without RTX but similar performance, so you have a decent upgrade there. For sure your CPU will be decently fine, unless at low resolutions. Just make sure you can fit all your Pc in a small enclosure for your next upgrade: (Just kidding on this). But the graphic update will be awsome. (I´ll just try to buy a second hand one given the actual market spectations over the next gen). -
Has anyone tried the 10900k yet?
Leaderface replied to james111333's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Is it posible to aply DLSS 2.0 on DCS? Don´t know if that could help with that Dover stuttering problem. Anyway: stuttering with a fresh install on that machine is telling that the map needs improvements yet. -
Intel i5-10600K vs Ryzen 7 3700X
Leaderface replied to Peter97's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Humm.... And shadows depend on the GPU, no? You think VR FPS numbers are bottlenecked by the GPU more than the rest of the system? And, if so: will more GDRAM alleviate the situation? -
Intel i5-10600K vs Ryzen 7 3700X

Let´s see if the Titan Guy on that thread give us numbers (allthought it´s not an HP Reverb). -
Intel i5-10600K vs Ryzen 7 3700X
Leaderface replied to Peter97's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I´ve read that FPS on IL2 were improved with the last patch. Maybe only the sttutering if you see the same ceiling. I even think War thunder have the same ceiling oproximately, but have not seen decent info on that. What the..... -
NVIDIA Titan RTX any reviews for DCS?
Leaderface replied to Nascar's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yes! we need that FPS info on your insane build, Man! An Optane SSD.... very good! Numbers on VR please. The HP REverb people is traped on 45 FPS. We need to know. Thanks! -
Intel i5-10600K vs Ryzen 7 3700X
Leaderface replied to Peter97's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Man!, those 45 FPS numbers on HP Reverb seems to be limited in some place. Let´s see when Ampere gets tested if that´s the problem. Maybe the limitation lays on the game engine somewere or in the Vram memory. There are too much people with those 45 FPS ceiling. -
Intel i5-10600K vs Ryzen 7 3700X
Leaderface replied to Peter97's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
That´s tipycal of an average 45 FPS for a Reverb everyone is getting on a strong system. On flat screen is a very good FPS count. Clearly the developers are taking into account the Flat screen numbers and relaxing on that but VR users are on the rise, so.... We need to double the VR performance, and then: double that again for the upcoming 4K dual displays coming in a year ahead. (And enable foveated rendering with eye tracking). Maybe some magic will happen on 2021, you never know. -
Intel i5-10600K vs Ryzen 7 3700X
Leaderface replied to Peter97's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
A 3800X, 32 Gb, a Nvidia 2080 and a Reverb..... Good! Can we know your FPS numbers at 1080p Flat screen on a easy Caucasus map and in your VR headset too, please? Same 45 FPS as all the people in VR? -

This Guy have the exact specifications we need to test: (an VR related channel) I´ve asked him to test DCS. Try all of you to ask him again please, and maybe we can get that. -

Intel i5-10600K vs Ryzen 7 3700X
Leaderface replied to Peter97's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Let´s see that Ryzen3 vs Rocket Lake competition. At the end of the year?.... prety sure on the AMD side, but Won´t put any money betting that Intel will be on track with those chips at the end of the year. Even the actual Comet Lake-S appeared with a notable delay. But let´s see: Those willow cove cores should bring a notable IPC gain to the actual desktop architecture (but maybe they can´t go as hi on Mhz, so.....) This christmas will be a feast of hardware novelties -
Many developers says Vulkan on AMD cards is a mess. Nvidia enabled full 1.2 Vulkan on their new drivers. (Vulkan on Nvidia were allready well implemented and easy to work with before that 1.2 release). Now ED can work on that. It will take time. On VR Nvidia is taking the lead over AMD too. (It´s just I will want to see fierce competition on the AMD side of the equation, but on the premium segment, that not happens actually). Maybe Intel will surprise all. You never know.

Intel i5-10600K vs Ryzen 7 3700X
Leaderface replied to Peter97's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
And, as Vertigo72 used to say, don´t substimate the memory subsystem. It seems new XT Ryzen will have a 2.000 Mhz Infinity fabric that translate to DDR4 at 4.000 Mzh for optimum results. I don´t think we can subestimate AMD so frequently. See that: I know an Intel 6600K is not a 10600K but the gains in DCS FPS translating to AMD and a speedier memory is awsome there. I just would like to see someone runing DCS on those new XTs AMDs on a DDR4 at 4.000 Mhz.... Maybe that wouldn´t be so far from the 10600K. (Maybe). Unfortunately we would have to wait a year and half to see AMD transitioning to DDR5. -
Intel i5-10600K vs Ryzen 7 3700X
Leaderface replied to Peter97's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I´ve read that 10600K will OC very easily, so, if you end up with a good memory, for me, it seems the better choice. And you can be on par with a stock 10700K very easily. But I sugest you to wait only 10 days to those Ryzen 3700XT not because they will be on par (allthought they will be near), but because you probably will see 10600K prices relaxing a bit. You will be fine on that machine untill Ryzen 3 on year fall. Just be sure not to blame you when the new Nvidia cards arrive in October. (Just that). Enjoy it! -
Tech advice for desktop (used)
Leaderface replied to Nemax's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Man!, congrats for that decision. Please make a new thread with your impressions when you feel comfortable enought to give data. Many people will be glad to know. -
It seems the new Ryzen3 arquitecture could improve all that you have said. But I want to wait to socket AM5 and DDR5, but the waiting is killing me. Maybe i will end up with one of those Ryzen3 and change the system when DDR5 gets into full glory. Maybe I can entertain me on the waiting with a new Tiger Lake ultrabook and kill the time a little. Let´s see how it goes from here.

@vertigo72: Have you ever heard about using quad channel memory Threadrippers or Intel-X machines? If more bandwith is better than rising speeds on memory? Because if memory is key, quad channel should have an impact too, no? And, for the same price, if I can abuse a little: given the fact that most maps have near 70 GB: Have anyone tried 128 Gb of memory. (I don´t even know if the game would use those resources if you provide them. Maybe not).
