ED is in the need to accomodate and fusion many things in a 3.0 version of the game and will take time. Allthough they are almost transforming in a AAA workforce considering the number of people working at ED.... They are in the need to improve the terrain technology, graphics, improve the 3D models they use so they don´t get crashed when the game engine is updated, improved clouds that also works the same on multiplayer, damage model, multi CPU usage..... etc, etc. Eventually they surely will need to revamp all the code and use that work for other 20 years. I would take advantage on that revamp and rewrite DCS to play on next gen consoles too. Hard work.

I allways wanted to know some of this stuff, so: Thanks. It seems that (with the work over the years) you are now better guessing a flight model. And building a plane on scale gives you data to work but accurate data of the movements of the alerons under pressure, engine data, etc. needs to be verified on the real aircraft or with the constructor or all the work might be wrong later. And is military data, so things are not very easy to obtain. Can you tell us how many things are automated by the flight model and how many are tunned to accomplish the experiences of the real pilots experiences?

AMD is known by being one year behind Nvidia in driver specifications. They simply can´t catch Nvidia. Let´s see if they can turn that, but, by now, the situation is that. For VR I recommend Nvidia and I´ll happily change my advise when things change. You know what?: Maybe Intel surprise us more than we thought with their new GPUs.

6+ yr old Computer died need help replacing
Leaderface replied to XAiracobraX's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Every 6 months there is a new and shiny CPU, GPU or whatever to buy, so: you decide. Right now (and for DCS), I´ll go with an Intel thing. (And only basing me on the coments on this same forum and being up to date on the hardware side of things). Probably I´ll change my buying decision on a Ryzen3 in three months, but you will be very happy with an actual Intel right now and forget the 5% speed increase waiting those 3 months. -
DCS 2020 and Beyond PC Build!
Leaderface replied to Peter97's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Basically, once you install windows and Steam platform you are ready to go. Then upgrade the Graphic drivers and that´s it. Yes, you can optimeze Bios, etc, but you don´t have to, if you don´t want it. And youtube is to the rescue on every step you may need. Believe us, it´s the safest way. Once you are done you´ll be intimately ligated to your machine and will know how to solve any future problem and upgrade you can imagine. And you have this forum too! (many people who like to help) The other route is to go to a local shop and pay a little to the guy in charge to build your Pc with the list of components that you have and a bit of conversation with them. (But ask for a warranty). -
DCS 2020 and Beyond PC Build!
Leaderface replied to Peter97's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Try the reece components but stick to a budget. Between 1.000 to 2.000 $ you should get a top build (double that on a good prebuilt machine). A 10600K / Z490 Mb Pc will put you on a reasonable budget and very good performance. But: Man!..... Don´t ask for a "no compromise" Pc build (and prebuilt) withought ignoring just the basic street prices, because there are 7.000 $ prebuilt gaming PCs and more. You can do better with a little research and youtube. (And be proud of that). -
Good. I´ll keep that in mind, Zhukov. Thanks.

Frankly, I´m worried about the guy on other thread that is strugling on low 90 FPS on his new AMD Pc and on 1080p It can´t be that much difference. Happy to hear your experience was good Theothersider. Very good to know.

All Seasonic PSUs are top quality (A gold one might be better than some platinum from other vendors). EVGA, Corsair, etc have some good PSUs but not all of their lineup. (They keep improving over the years though.) But you can trust on that Seasonic for the rest of your life. Epic builds: I like them! -
DCS 2020 and Beyond PC Build!
Leaderface replied to Peter97's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Prebuilt? It depends a lot on the country you live. Not many brands sell over the world. And very few have all the components of the highest quality (almost ever there is one that fails on the rest). But in USA surely you have lots of gaming brands to choose. Unfortunately, there is not perfect Pc for a game that is in continous "work in progress". It all depends on the developer hands more than on the hardware you can buy. Sorry. -

A good PSU that you can trust and keep on future builds is important in my experience. A good PSU deliver power to your Mobo without spikes of energy and improves the life of the Mobo. It´s not wasted money by any means. -

Perfect advise. Just do that and don´t look back. But first revise your power suply: It´s important not to kill another Mobo. -
Thanks Zhukov. I just want to fly the VR experience. How deep I´ll go apart from that, it´s unknown for me at this time. Time will tell. In fact: how many of you play other "normal" games?.... I think that getting deep in DCS and aviation sims in general will let you very little time to enjoy other genres of games, isn´t it?

All of you are right: The easiest part of an F-18 may be the startup..... So much features.... Sometimes I think I should keep myself only on the warbirds..... But the jets are so fast......

Nvidia and AMD are on the hands of TSMC and his delays or whatever happens inside TSMC hurt those companys. Nvidia is about ro revamp de Ampere lineup on 5 nm next year too. The problem with Ampere was delays with the contracts with TSMC and 7 nm lineup (problems that Samsung may have allowed to solve, but with no luck). Samsung allready have a 5 nm transition map, but it´s not as strong as the TSMC one so they may, or not, ensure the 5 nm thing that Nvidia desesperately needs. Nvidia reached a new contract with TSMC again and (with the absence of Huawei now) it won´t be a problem to have new Nvidia cards on 5 nm and on track by fall 2021. But, yes: the Ampere 2020 consumer cards will be HOT (and may occupy 3 PCI slots). The HPC cards are from 7 nm TSMC (the HBM2 memory ones). The problem is on the AMD drivers. (Specially Vulkan and VR is a step behind Nvidia ones allways).

2021 (and earlier) DCS Newsletter Discussion Thread
Leaderface replied to NineLine's topic in DCS 2.9
But some work must be doing on the background I think. (A never ending one): I´ve read (I think it was from heatblur) that they need to spend time downgrading his multiCPU radar code to acommodate the DCS engine. So: even the third party partners have a more advanced aproach than ED on the engine side of things. I´m pretty sure they are working hard on that and may surprise us any day. -
One thing is learning a plane and the inmersion to start manually, and other different is to have various games and sims and planes that you play not so regurlarly. So, I think, it´s a midterm proposal. And if it´s allready done it will be a no hassle checkbox in the options panel. The porpouse of any game is to entertain and not necessarily be a pain if you don´t need it. You just check or uncheck the box so more people will find the pain curve that they feel comfortable with. It doesn´t exist on the contacts info, etc?

Superman flies DCS? (Just a Joke)
Leaderface replied to Leaderface's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Great news, man. Happy about that. I just need to kill the time until my Pc build. It will be epic but won´t happen soon because I have to rebuild my house and that will take time. Maybe when I finish that I´ll have to wait to Ryzen 4 again. But, Hey!: Mybe I´ll start with DCS 3.0 multi CPU, Vulkan, etc.... Yes: I need to kill that time doing something..... Enjoy the week, man! -
Superman flies DCS? (Just a Joke)
Leaderface replied to Leaderface's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
He allready is in The Witcher Tv series at least. How is that 10700K with the new beta update reece? Your CPU surely is faster in games than the Superman one. I´m jealous hahaah I´m frustrated on waiting on the Ryzen3 thing! Damm it! And now it seems TSMC will let free capacity for any in the need (Nvidia?) after stoppping Huawei wafers. Those Amperes need 5nm.... But let´s see. It will take time. -
Good to know, thanks. If there was only an option to leave it there....

I know you can start with the plane allready started but I think I´ve seen in the MS 2020FS videos a step by step helping mechanism to start the plane highlighting the clickable items one by one as intended in the checklist order. Is that a feature DCS allready have? I think it will be fine to have that enabled by default so you can get used to properly start your plane and then you decide if it´s worth to disable the feature for the added inmersion. It´s because, at some time, you have too much planes to correctly remember all the starting procedures if you don´t fly them too often. I think it will help to bring new people to DCS. Damm!, that FS2020 will be such a heavy contender that I´m sure will give ED the right ammount of stimulus to bring DCS to a new and higher standard. (Fierce competition is good at that).

Anyone noticed any improvements on the "DCS not attaching on 0 core by default" thing? Has it happened before or are they preparing for multicore? Maybe I´m dreaming. -
https://www.instagram.com/tv/CCs-N1Eh2Z5/?utm_source=ig_embed&utm_campaign=loading Yes: Even Superman needs to upgrade his Pc to be up to date in DCS. Well: I don´t know what games Henry Cavill plays, it´s only a Joke and I won´t choose all his components (specially the monitor), but the Pc is not that bad for playing DCS: Ryzen 9 3900X / NZXT Kraken Z73 32 GB GSkill Trident Z Neo RGB Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Hero Mobo Two 1 Gb Samsung 970 Pro NVMEs Asus ROG Strix RTX 2080 Ti Seasonic Prime platinum PSU Cage: Fractal Design Define R6 Asus ROG PG27U 4K monitor Razer Blackwidow Elite Keyboard Yes: he will need to upgrade his CPU and GPU in 2-3 months to be on the elite side of the equation but, in the meantime, he can fly.

Hard Times and Expensive Hobby
Leaderface replied to Steel Jaw's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I´m more interested in a curved ultrawide one. It´s hard to find a 1.500 radius 1440p 37-38" though (they tend to fall in 34" or too wide for my taste). Here are a couple of examples: https://www.extremetech.com/gaming/304107-samsung-unveils-massive-49-inch-qled-q9-odyssey-monitor And an almost free one;-): https://hardzone.es/noticias/perifericos/xiaomi-mi-34-monitor-gaming/ There are lots of them actually and at a good price. Oled or microled ones with HDR 1000 at hi refresh rates will have to wait a little more (one or two years). Even Samsung it´s ditching Qled monitors and changing towards Oled (but may be patent issues with Sony, etc).... and the covid thing.... things are getting delayed. I´ll wait and see. -
950 $ for a 2080 Ti don´t seem bad at all. I thought you hadn´t bought nothing yet and was about to press the buy button. Well: it´s late to change nothing, so enjoy it. Only a month ago it was a top gaming Pc and you will be fine.
