OH-6A by Tobsen and Eightball
Ithronwise replied to tobi's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
Open source and GPL don't work this way. All large and smaller open source projects out there are published under some sort of GPL and there is no case known where someone has "stolen" source code from another because the code is free and it is forbidden to change it to closed source or make profit with it if the origin license doesn't allow it, otherwise it is a violation of the license and this will be very expensive for that one. The compliance of the GPL licenses is controlled by the open source community. Even large companies like Microsoft or Alphabet adhere to this (and are part of the open source community because they have a lot of own open source projects and support a lot of others). But anyway, as I wrote, it is your decision. I just wanted to show you a way how your mods could be further developed in the future. There is no reason to be upset. It was just a suggestion. -

Free software and open source software are two completely different things. The first one just allows the user to use it for free. The second one allows the user to use it for free and additionally allows other modders to continue the development, create new content, keep it up-to-date and so on. If you want to avoid that someone is using your work to make profit you could publish it under an open source software license like GNU GPL (General Public License): https://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-3.0.en.html Of course, it is your software, your work, your decision and I hope you understand this just as a suggestion of mine, because I like your and Eightballs mods. Without further development and maintenance it is only a question of time until some future DCS update will break them. -

Everyone understands your decision. Life changes and there are many more important things than a dcs mod. But it would be fair to the community that loves your and Eightball's mods to make them open source so other talented modders can continue the work of you two. -
I guess, SharpeXB didn't talk to you but to the thread starter. He has an I7 4790K.

And you missed the opportunity to stay friendly.

Check your antivirus program, the Su30cws.dll is recognized as a trojan by a lot of antivirus software (incl. Windows Defender) and will be deleted or moved into quarantine. Without it you cannot enter the cockpit when you have installed the mod including cws.

To be honest, I like the idea that a plane in DCS is close enough to the reality that I could cold start the RL counterpart, bring it in the air, fly, navigate and communicate, use the weapons and counter measures and bring it back safely to the runway. And that are my minimum expectations for a module with a price of 79.99 $. Since I started to play flight simulations in the early 90's I was on the search for a simulation that brings me as close to the reality as possible, especially in the technical aspect. Before DCS I played the other great flight simulation that simulated the F-16 (I don't write the name because of the forum rules but the most of you will know what I mean) and also its forks for long years and that already was a very realistic simulation of the real viper with a steep learning curve. So, I don't see DCS as a game or a simulation game but as a simulation with gaming elements.

Ok, convinced. @DmitriKozlowsky In this case, you shouldn't be surprised that your airframe goes out of control if you exceed the specifications so far. -

The sources I found are all saying 130 knots. https://www.ultimatespecs.com/aircraft-specs/mcdonnell-douglas/mcdonnell-douglas-hughes-oh-6-cayuse-1965 https://www.williammaloney.com/Aviation/WingsOfEaglesMuseum/HughesOH6ACayuseHelicopter/index.htm (150 mph = 130 knots) https://aerocorner.com/aircraft/hughes-oh-6-cayuse/ http://www.fergworld.com/oh-6a/ -

130 knots is the maximum cruise speed for the OH-6A, you should never exceed it. -
Bullsh** bingo as an answer, great. Your "critical thoughts" are nothing more than plaintive demands. There are already more than 350 liveries for the Superhornet available (some of them are still waiting to be adapted to v2.4). We're not going to change them or create new ones just because you want us to (even if we wanted to, we wouldn't have the time). If you want them customized to your needs, do it yourself. If you can't, that's not our problem, just learn it like all the other liveries creators did, it's not quantum physics (and by the way, changing the carrier names in one of the dds files is a very simple act).

That's correct because the Superhornet mod still uses the cockpit of the Legacy Hornet. The dev team is working on a completely own cockpit for the Superhornet but it will take a while until it is done and ready for release.

You don't need to open a new topic for every new issue. Just use the official topic here in this subforum.

It's a known issue. The collision model has to be fitted. Fix is in progress and will (hopefully) come with the next update.

Then I have an idea: there is a 4K template for the Superhornet. Why don't you start to create the skins you need and want and share them with the community like all the other liveries creators do? Maybe you will understand how much effort and time is needed to create a good looking realistic skin. You get all these stuff for free and lament that is not enough. Seriously, I don't understand your problem. The liveries for the superhornet mod are as close to the real life skins as possible and you want to erase the (very tiny) carrier names for all users only because with them you cannot create a realistic carrier deck? Strange logic. I can tell you, this will not happen. By the way, you can erase the (or even create new) carrier names yourself, you only need Paint.Net or Gimp (both are free, too).

I hope you know that these liveries are all based on real life paintings. Carrier Air Wings often switch from one carrier to another (and sometimes even from one Carrier Air Wing to another). Therefore skins of the same squadrons can carry different carrier names, depending on the time period.

DCS Super Hercules mod by Anubis
Ithronwise replied to Eight Ball's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
This hotfix was created by SkateZilla from the CJS Superhornet Dev Team. He only did it because a lot of the superhornet users ran into this issue and reported it on the discord server of CJS. Maybe someone who is (or feels) responsible for the Hercules mod should officially implement it. The problem with the Mulitplayer servers is, that with this hotfix your version of the Hercules mod isn't the same as that on the server anymore. So the server doesn't recognizes your mod correctly. To solve this issue the server owner has to implement the hotfix into the Hercules mod on the server, too. -
Someone wrote it already, there is a typo in the API URL: www.digitalcombatsimulator.comgameapi -> should be: www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/gameapi The "best" thing is: even if they fix the problem, to get a new corrected version of the updater you need a connection from the fault updater to the API first, but that isn't possible because of this typo.
-
Yeah, as I said. Seems the new updater that is installed before the DCS update (or a repair) runs is misconfigured.
-
I have the same issue. Did a cleanup and tried a repair like I ever do before I run a new DCS update and get this error when I start the repair. Attached the log file. Seems as if the api isn't reachable, so not a firewall or AV problem but a problem on ED's side. autoupdate_templog.txt

The skins on MEGA are all outdated and don't fit the latest version of the mod due changes of the 3D model. At the moment it doesn't exist a skin package with all the latest liveries. We all have to download them from User files at the moment: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/search/index.php?q=Super+Hornet And by the way, no one of them has a size of 300 MB.
