  1. Where exactly was I unpolite against you? Maybe it sounded harsher as intended, that's true, so I apologize for that. The sentence "did not want to ... introduce your incompetence" however sounds really unpolite. I guess it wasn't meant this way. Just to clarify, I've been part of a modding team for some years and create liveries myself, so I think, I know what I'm writing (in most cases ).
  2. What do you want me to say? You have seen the screenshot of my ME? You have seen the screenshot of my Liveries folder? I can use these liveries in DCS without downloading/installing this liveries mod. To proof this I have started DCS with a new created folder in Saved Games (means no mods, no liveries, no scripts): As you can see I still can load those liveries: And a screenshot of the loaded mission: I am just curios why I can use these liveries without having any liveries installed?
  3. Funny, I don't have those liveries in my “Saved Games” folder and I don't remember ever downloading them. Yet I can select them in the mission editor.
  4. There is no link. It is included in DCS World:
  5. The patch solved the HMD issue for all others. So, I guess something went wrong on your side. Are you sure you have set the "Helmet Mounted Device" option in the Mission Editor to "JHMCS"? If not you can do this also in the Cockpit by using the Crew options in the Comm menu.
  6. A new version is in progress and will be released soonTM.
  7. He explained what the problem is: ED needs freely and official available information about the Super Hornet to simulate the avionics and weapon systems as exactly as possible. But these information are classified. DCS isn't a just-for-fun-game like Ace Combat. It's a simulator with game elements and for a simulator you need accurate data from the object you want to simulate. If you don't get these information you cannot make a simulator. You only could try to make a "this-should-be-close-enough" game in the best case. ED has a higher standard.
  8. No backups? No copies shared with others?
  9. As I already wrote earlier in this thread (just few posts above) there is a hotfix pinned in the bugs-and-polishing section of the Chiller Juice Studios discord channel. It also solves some other bugs.
  10. Do you use macros or similar for your keyboard? Sounds as if the external weapon view function is set twice on the F6 key, on press and on release.
  11. No, it was something else. If I loaded a mission with missing units/mods I got a warning but I could load the mission anyway without these units. Maybe it was just a dream. Nevermind, I use the tip by Rudel_chw now to remove the outdated units from the required mod list: Thank you anyway.
  12. I ran into this problem with some of my old missions: These missions still use the old Currenthill mods before they were combined into asset packs. Unfortunately, I no longer have those old mods, so I can't load those missions to update the Currenthill units. I'm a bit confused, because I remember some time ago there was a way to load missions even if the unofficial mods/units used in them are no longer installed. But I'm not sure if it was an official feature or a mod/script.
  13. That's what I meant with "unclean" DCS installation. If you have any problems with DCS, the first step should be a cleanup and a slow repair including all files. If the issue persists also remove all mods in Saved Games\DCS. If you still have trouble after that rename your Saved Games\DCS folder and let DCS build a new one. That would be the right steps if you face an issue and not to come into the forum first and blame an official module. You can do this if all the other steps are not working.
  14. In fact, controlling the Big Buddy with DAFCS On feels to me like sitting in a cab in New York and trying to tell the poorly English-speaking driver where I want to go. Only with DAFCS off do I really feel like I'm in control and flying the hook myself.
  15. The most reasonable explanation in most cases is a misconfigured system and/or an unclean/faulty DCS installation. The F-4E is much more complex than other modules (including the F-14), so the likelihood of a misconfigured system or an unclean DCS installation leading to low frame rates is much higher.
  16. Just read the post directly above yours. This hotfix also fixes the NVG, JHMCS and some other issues.

  18. No, mod managers are great in any case: when dcs gets an update, when one of the used mods gets an update, when you are facing an issue and you have to find out which mod is causing it (or to exclude that one of the mods is causing it). Otherwise In all these cases you would have to do a cleanup and a slow repair including additional files (because you never exactly know where all the mod files go and it's highly recommended to get back a completely clean dcs installation). That would be too much effort for me, but this is my personal opinion. I use Open Mod Manager by the way, it's better than OvGME.
  19. I highly recommend to create a Discord account. The most mod makers are very active on Discord and you will find not only the latest updates there but also a lot of information, hints and helpful discussions. If you click on the link you should get an invitation. Btw, I am in the very late forties.
  20. The latest version of the Armed Blackhawk addon is v5.8, the minigun mod is integrated there, please check the discord channel: https://discord.gg/KvCushXE
  21. Can we be sure it is just a bug in the Windows Defender? In this special case it is highly probable a false positive, but it still has a bad taste and you always should remain skeptical. In my job, I always tell people: “When you are on the internet, receiving emails or chat messages, always be paranoid. If you have a bad feeling, don't open the website, don't click on the link, don't start the download, don't open the file, because in most cases your feeling is right."
  22. ED could contact Microsoft and find out why these files are suddenly being recognized as PUAs. If it's a bug in Windows Defender, Microsoft should fix it soon, if it's because these encrypted files don't have trusted certificates, ED (or Razbam) should create certificates for them. It's not the customers' job to do these things, and it's highly dangerous to just say “don't worry, it's a false positive”. Next time it may not be a false positive, but then no one will take it seriously (you know the story about the boy who kept shouting “wolves!”?).
  23. dcs.exe starts -> loads the dlls into the RAM -> decrypts them there and executes the contained functions -> Windows Defender finds there is something suspicious -> Alert My machine is alright, otherwise I would have the wrong job. The dll is the problem and even if it is a false positive alert it isn't my task to clear this issue with Microsoft, but ED's.
  24. You are right, but these dll's are encrypted. So Microsoft will not be able to check if there is a potentially harmful function in it or not. These files are only decrypted during their runtime by the dcs.exe and that's the moment where the Windows Defender can check the functions in it that are loaded into the RAM.
  25. I guess, your gaming pc is connected to your home network? So, in this case if you catch a malware (a backdoor for example) on this pc you have good chances that your other devices within this network will be compromised, too. As soon as someone has access to one device within your network you are lost.
