Progress pictures on the Eurofighter Typhoon
TheCabal replied to DashTrueGrit's topic in DCS: Eurofighter
Sorry, but I suggest you go back to Falcon BMS and come back after another 20 years because of that gamebreaking AMRAAM-issue, which must bother you everyday for years right? You must've learned by now how different software-developing can work out, don't you? Maybe Command Modern Operations is something for you? Lot's of stuff to complain about there as well. The Harpoon community wars back then managed to destroy the Harpoon series completely. Lunatics even today participate in wars against CMO/CMANO as if nothing else in life matters AFTER DECADES. This is sick... -
Do whatever you like dude but remember, 2020 is not the 90s (rise of flight sim era) and we had only Falcon 4.0 (now BMS) for two decades with no real alternatives till DCS started to evolve. So: It's support/keep alive if you find something interesting or else we risk flying Cessnas in Flight Simulator or Falcon BMS for another two decades. Besides... this community slowly starts to remind me of Harpoons crazy community back then.

The MiG-23... damn... => Instabuy for me.

HOTAS Cougar - Sensitivity drives me insane since years...
TheCabal replied to TheCabal's topic in Thrustmaster
Been kinda busy lately.. sorry for the late response. Flying the F-14 lets me think that the axis need to be multiplied by *2 so i can enjoy a smooth ride. Why can't I just lengthen the axis longer... -
Hello folks, there is something I don't understand. Maybe you can help. So, lots of Sticks do have a low height compare to a bigger movement-radius in actual fighter aircraft. Even after setting up the curvature, I still feel the need to multiply every axis-length by 2 to make a smoother riding possible. It all feels still too jerky with my HOTAS Cougar (curvature around 18-25 depending on the aircraft). What am I missing here? How to make roll/pitch more precise and not suddenly extreme on the axis ends? One of many examples: I can't find the right setting for the rudder of the F-14 with a curvature. It's starts smooth and gets really too much after making the input a bit too further (left or right). Can't hold the aircraft stable during dogfights. I doubt that Tomcat pilots had so many problems fighting the aircraft controls as I do. Do I need to install some sort of a longer-stick-extender in my HOTAS Cougar stick-base to make it finally work or can I alter some more settings to achieve the same without a "stick-height-extender"? It sometimes feels like trying to precisely fly with a gamepad, a 1mm movement on an axis equals 50% movement on the stick in-game. Greetings & thx guys, Cabal

[ALREADY REPORTED]Polish Servers have Indonesian Flag

ED... for real? -
Hello folks, are there any short guides reg. the 4YA servers? A friend of mine likes to know what we can do with the Mi-8 & how things work (capturing bases? delivering assets? what kind of assets like radars? building stuff like FARPs?). How does this all work? Great servers btw! Greetings, Cabal

Bought the MiG and yes, the external sound is pretty bad. How to show off the MiG online to others with this kind of external weak sound... :(
-
It sounds nice for me... but I’d like this mod to be heard by others online as well. Some sort of ad ;) But the sound is a letdown. I will try this mod soon.

Jester: most frustrating flight sim experience ever !
TheCabal replied to jojo's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Jester is a cool dude. Having him is what makes this module great. They did a great job providing that menue as well. BUT => the most misunderstood stuff is how the radar in the F-14 works and it's downsides. Usually when flying online, I manage to find contacts (AWACS, EWR) at various altidudes and destroy them, being TOP 1 at A2A kills in no time with (long range) incl. short-range (dogfights) fights when I don't manage to get out of the area fast enough. I fly on a veteran capture the airbase server. Many ppl spawn right at the front line where the action is... forgetting that the Tomcat needs some more range and apply different tactics to keep that radar contact on the scope. Everything works good, Jester could be better, but still I'm able to do what the Tomcat was built for => shooting down lots of enemy fighters and adjust to situations to make that radar work. -
Well... beta is way too dynamic in regards of bugs. Online, you would choose an airbase far away from the action to get more time checking out the radar or working with Jester on AWACs call outs. YouTube helps as well speeding up the learning process.

DCS World TARGET profile for TM Cougar and Warthog + MFDs
TheCabal replied to Home Fries's topic in Thrustmaster
I have Head Tracking Hardware set to 1, Padlock View Enabled to 1, Default POV Hat function in VR to 1 (maybe it's this?!), then made the rebuild. But Trim in the F-14 only works when using Shift + Trim on my HOTAS Cougar as if I haven't added my DIY TrackIR. (Headtracking VR deactivated within DCS options because it was enabled.)- 2261 replies

Switching to RIO in F-14 on some servers not possible? :(
TheCabal replied to TheCabal's topic in Multiplayer
Oh damn please no... =( That would be just so damn fine i they could add F-14s with the RIO being the AI... so that we can switch. -
I have one as well now (DIY) but wondered why this is deactivated.
-
Do you play the Open Beta or Stable? Jester, if in TWS mode, identifies incl. auto-prio with the first target flashing. I can highly recommend playing on airbase-capture servers. These are like small dynamic campaigns, very interesting especially with the Tomcat because you have everything... from high flying to low ground-hugging radar. Some sort of chaos which can result during a war. You are in many different situations while trial & error singleplayer missions/campaigns get boring quickly. Let me tell you that the RIO seat is damn fine online ;)

Jester: most frustrating flight sim experience ever !
TheCabal replied to jojo's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Most frustrating is having contacts right in front of you... but there is nothing on the scope. Target enemy ahead... no can do. Two minutes later we hang on chutes. -
It all depends on the range and altitude at which you fire them off. Agile fighters can beat the Phoenix easily if done right. On one occasion I managed to hit five birds out of six... on another I only hit two, but fired them from a longer distance. Lots of factors to consider. Online, my effectiveness with these are at about 60-70%.

Guys, the last time we had a Tomcat simulator probably was Microprose Fleet Defender. This baby is THE star, as well as the hidden F-14 Album by Meteor in the cockpit ;) Ppl nag way too much as if they‘d rather wanted to spend another 20 years with Falcon 4.0 & BMS. Open beta means Open beta, Stable means stable and VR... don’t get me wrong but it’s a overpriced Beta hardware with a lacking support to take some workload off our computers. It’s all in the making and I’m glad, every damn day... to have lots of modules I was dreaming of for decades! Remember Fighter Bomber for Amiga or Jane‘s Fighrers Anthology (ATF + US Navy Fighters)? Finally we get all the birds as detailed as possible in one world. Bugs yeah, will always exist since testing for ages without sells by some ppl is economically plain stupid, we do this since there are many more of us. Early Access? Well, many nag about it, I feel happy to be part of it. Just be patient and be happy. It’s an amazing sim with a long road ahead of it. EDIT: Heck you can even buy the HOTAS grip of your favourite aircraft.... not for all modules but still cool.

Hello folks, I noticed that it is not possible to switch to the RIO in the Tomcat and let Iceman fly. I flew on the server where you must takeover airbases from which you can spawn. There are more of these servers, one for every map. There are two slots on every F-14 for humans. Sometimes I’d like iceman to fly and learn some RIO stuff myself without dragging a human pilot blindly towards certain death. Some of these guys want to fly alone with jester or a skilled buddy. Would be a cool possibility in such target rich environments :) Greetings, Cabal

DCS World TARGET profile for TM Cougar and Warthog + MFDs
TheCabal replied to Home Fries's topic in Thrustmaster
Hi Home Fries... I now have TrackIR. I set it up in CTS made some changes... expecting that it maps the trim hat to direct trim... but appearently trim is still functional only via shifted only. Is this behaviour normal? I expected a non-shifted direct trim with the HOTAS Cougar. (Flew the Tomcat) Greetings, Cabal- 2261 replies

Hi there guys, what about that? The second suggestion in the title is from Microprose Fleet Defender. GIUK gap would be cool too. Greetings, Cabal

DCS World TARGET profile for TM Cougar and Warthog + MFDs
TheCabal replied to Home Fries's topic in Thrustmaster
Hi Home Fries, i still experience problems switching seats in the Tomcat. In the training session it worked back and forth, for whatever reason it then ceased to work. Online, I'm not able to switch to RIO to do some radar work, not even when trying to add another key on the keyboard just to be able to switch. Jester confuses me so much I want to take things in my own hands and train on servers but somehow... it doesn't work. (or its not suppose to work online? I don't know). EDIT: It’s a Limitation of the Server which holds one place for a human RIO. You can’t be active in both seats. CTS is still the best tool out for DCS, referring everyone nagging about controls towards this gem of a tool. Greetings, Cabal- 2261 replies

Hello folks, any reason why padlocking isn't allowed on this server? Without TrackIR and just a damn coolie hat... how are dudes without a tracker suppose to dogfight and maintain SA?
