  1. The level of naivete displayed in some of these comments is sad but not surprising. Gamers arguing on the Internet aren't always the smartest collective bunch.
  2. Good to hear. You might try experimenting with different USB ports before exchanging the drive. Also see if there are any firmware updates available from the manufacturer. I had an SSD that was performing terribly until I saw that an update had been released to address that specific problem.
  3. Based on your comment on how the problem follows the new drive, I suspect the problem is caused by the new drive being much slower than the original drive. You said the new drive is external so that's another strike against it. Try running a disk benchmark against both drives to verify performance.
  4. Read the manual. Page 601. ED did a great job with keeping the Apache manual updated.
  5. It looks like the July 23rd patch has normalized the cockpit critical_damage values across the AI A and C Hornets as well as the flyable C Hornet. They're all set to a value of 8 now. I don't think this was mentioned in the patch notes.
  6. A green map? Cold War Germany is already out!
  7. It's safe to assume that ED's got a pretty gigantic backlog of more important things to get done so you might be waiting a long time for something like this. Maybe forever. If you ever feel like tackling the problem yourself, this might help: https://forum.dcs.world/topic/270487-quaggles-dcs-input-command-injector-mod-store-custom-input-commands-safely-in-saved-games-instead-of-merging-them-with-developer-changes-each-update/ I haven't had to use it to modify trim rates but I do use it to slow down controls like altimeter pressure knobs and lighting controls. It's not too difficult to figure out and you can use it to adjust nearly any control, not just trim. You can even add your own custom binds with a little experimentation. Highly recommended.
  8. Another option from Logitech is Onboard Memory Manager. You can config a compatible mouse, save the config to the mouse and terminate the software. https://support.logi.com/hc/en-sg/articles/360059641133-Onboard-Memory-Manager It works with my G502 and G305.
  9. Thanks for the update, @baltic_dragon. I guess this also explains the similar situation in M11 where the lead element of my flight fails to enable D/L. While inconvenient, it forces me to work harder for SA so it's a fun challenge.
  10. I just completed mission 10 and had a problem with the datalink. It looks like all flights enabled the D/L except Chevy (Hammer). It made joining up pretty challenging. I did launch before Cajun and am wondering if that broke something. I'll try again and launch last to see if that changes anything.
  11. With the 2.9.17.11733 patch today, the QAG has been significantly faster when regenerating missions. Great job, guys.
  12. Ah, thanks. I was checking the module's update_id value in the associated entry.lua file and wasn't sure if that was the definitive name.
  13. Marianas WW2 ID is "MARIANAISLANDSWWII_terrain" (I think).
  14. Weird flex in a flight sim forum.
  15. I've got a Simfab setup and love it. When planning my setup, Simfab went way beyond what I was expecting in helping me pick the right parts for my gear. I highly recommend giving them a call or dropping them an email if you have any questions at all. I know this sounds like an ad for Simfab but I'm just a really happy customer, nothing more.
  16. I grew up watching Baa Baa Black Sheep. I'm beyond stoked for the Corsair!
  17. @Minsky, this is absolutely incredible work. Thank you so much for creating these outstanding kneeboards and sharing them with us!
  18. I found something interesting today while looking at some Hornet LUA files. Go to [DCS base directory]/CoreMods/aircraft/FA-18C and search for "COCKPIT" in these files: FA-18A.lua FA-18C.lua FA-18C_hornet.lua (this is the Hornet available to the player) Check out the values associate with the "critical_damage" variable here. If anyone's interested, try running the attached test mission and change between the 3 Hornet versions, you'll notice how the AI pilots in the FA-18A and FA-18C_hornet versions always die. The "critical_damage" values for these planes are both "1". The FA-18C value is "8" and the AI pilot's survival rate is much better. You can adjust the FA-18C_hornet value in this file but it will certainly break IC. _Hornet survivability.miz
  19. I gave this a try and while it sharpens up the HMD symbology, it also makes the HUD look a bit janky. The AMPCD font is also adversely affected. I poked around in some of the Hornet LUA files to see if I could isolate the parameters that affect the HMD but was unsuccessful. Hopefully ED will address this issue. I was doing some guns-only in the Hornet today and that HMD kept making me say, "Look how they massacred my boy!". It looks awful. edit: After removing the mod and restoring the original files, I edited MDG_strokesDefs.lua and changed line 3: original: stroke_thickness = 0.8 new: stroke_thickness = 0.4 YMMV but my HMD looks a lot better now.
  20. This does not fix the problem.
  21. The QAG in its current state is pretty painful to use. It's incredibly slow and isn't a fun experience. I'm hoping development of new features like the QAG and DTC continues full speed ahead. It's a bad feeling when cool new features get added and then seemingly set aside when focus shifts to other cool new half-baked features.
  22. Appreciate the input @Mapi. Unfortunately, I'm on a 6800 XT GPU so I don't think this tweak is applicable to me.
  23. Since the 2.9.16.10523 update, the HMD symbology is noticeably blurrier than the previous version. Could this be related to the following change? Fixed: HMD cross disappears with a large FOV - fixed the visibility with large FOV. Anyone else seeing this? It looks like a couple people have mentioned it on ED's Discord: https://discord.com/channels/542985647502393346/1375213873304703096/1375213873304703096 https://discord.com/channels/542985647502393346/1375154676953124945/1375154676953124945
  24. I've read the manual cover-to-cover at least once and am constantly referring back to it to review something I've forgotten. It does a decent job of covering the Hornet but it could use an update. I sometimes have to look at another developer's Superbug manual when trying to figure out finer details that can't be found in the DCS manual. ED's manual isn't bad but it does need some love. The manual itself even admits this on p.12. Also note that the last update was in March 2023. Maybe manuals aren't the sexiest thing to work on and maybe many DCS players are reading-challenged as @Wags himself says in one of his Q&A vids but I really enjoy reading them while taking my time to learn these complex modules. It's a big part of the fun for me. Here's to hoping the efforts to update your manuals is still underway.
