  1. Unfortunately it does. I don't do MP so I often forget to factor that in when replying.
  2. Oops, my bad. Still, I wonder a tinted visor would help with HUD visibility in the 4th gen jets.
  3. If a visor is dark enough to attenuate the sun's glare would you still be able to read the HUD through it, either with the sun in your face or at your back? With my moto helmet's darkest visor, the sun is still pretty blinding but the instrument cluster is also hard to read. The dark visor does help when the sun is at a more oblique angle but it's still not the perfect solution. Is it the same for military aviation visors?
  4. edit <DCS install path>\Scripts\Aircrafts\_Common\Cockpit\ViewportHandling.lua and look for the line "dedicated_viewport = {default_x,default_y,default_width,default_height}". It should be around line 33 or so. Comment out the original line and make a copy to play with the values and see what works for you. This is what mine looks like: --dedicated_viewport = {default_x,default_y,default_width,default_height} dedicated_viewport = {40,990,760,1160} You'll have to restore this modded file whenever you update or repair so make a copy. DCS updater will put it automatically in _backup.XXX in case you forget to back it up manually.
  5. @Lord Vader I think I may have found the missing piece of this puzzle. It happens when 1LOOK RAID is boxed. Attached is a new track and a video of what I'm seeing. Let me know if you need more info about my setup or configuration. Hornet azimuth-elevation indicators swap 2.mp4 Hornet azimuth-elevation indicators swap 2.trk
  6. I just tried to create a video and was unable to reproduce the issue as well with my posted TRK. The elevation carat and B-sweep line worked as expected. I reviewed the very same track yesterday before posting to make sure it showed the problem clearly. So that's weird. When I saw the problem over the past few days, it was after I had already spent a bit of time experimenting with the A/A radar and its various modes. Maybe there are some other conditions that need to be there for this to happen. I'm planning on toying with the radar some more and if I see the problem again, I'll try to note any other conditions/actions and get a video of it. Appreciate the look, @Lord Vader.
  7. Ok, this is an odd one. I was playing with the various ACM modes and happened on this when using GACQ. Here are the steps to reproduce: enter GACQ by selecting guns and acquire a target deselect guns by selecting another AA weapon with HOTAS AA weapon select control press PB10 to enter TWS modify current BAR by pressing PB6 The antenna elevation carat and B-sweep are now swapped, i.e., elevation carat appears to reflect azimuth and B-sweep now indicates antenna elevation position. Weird! Attaching a short TRK that shows the above steps. Hornet azimuth-elevation indicators swap.trk
  8. I completely agree with this. With a game as complex as DCS, incomplete and/or inaccurate documentation and the little errors found here and there all add up to make a significant dent in the fun. A big part of the fun for me with DCS is learning and mastering a new skill or procedure. With the current general state of DCS documentation when something doesn't go as expected, I don't know if it's my mistake, a documentation error or a game bug. This post deserves more visibility. Too bad it's buried in the Hind section so maybe a dozen people will see it
  9. Definitely a "wait and see" situation, at least for me. Who knows, Fat Amy might be a ton of fun but so many act like ED kicked their dog and keyed their car by announcing a module that no one has even seen yet. I guess some people aren't happy unless they're complaining about something.
  10. I have no experience with the VRS Superbug but I have to say the VRS docs are really well done. It's a good resource to cross-reference when reading ED's Hornet manual and something isn't explained clearly or missing completely. I love the DCS Hornet but I really wish the manual would get updated. The Hornet is arguably one of ED's flagship modules but the documentation that it ships with could use a lot of improvement.
  11. The function keys on one of my keyboards default to hotkeys (i.e., browser, media play/pause, vol controls, etc). I have to hit a key combo to switch modes so they'll send F1-F12 keystrokes instead. It sounds like something similar might be happening with your KB.
  12. Can you setup a snap view to max zoom to the desired MFD so it fills the entire screen? Might be something to consider.
  13. I think you meant undesignate/NWS pinky switch. The paddle is used to disengage NWS.
  14. @Gryzor - resurrecting this old thread because I was having nearly the same issue with extremely annoying stuttering with the Viper and Hornet when the AA radar is emitting. This was noticeable mostly right when weight-on-wheels was removed and the radar started emitting as well as pointing the nose of the aircraft in a different direction. I would get multiple, short spikes in frametime and lower FPS. I tried a few things to troubleshoot including: disable ReShade unpark CPU cores single monitor only (no exports) newly-created save directory Nothing helped. I finally did a slow repair and this seemed to do the trick. I still have the occasional stutter but it's nowhere near as bad as it was. It was so bad I was ready to give up on the Hornet, which is one of my favorite modules. Hope this helps, if you're still seeing the problem. Update - looks like the slow repair didn't fix things. The annoying stutter was back the very next day. It ranges from mildly annoying to practically unplayable. This only happens in the Hornet and Viper. I'm currently playing around with CPU affinity and that seems to help but there does not appear to be a definitive action that solves the problem permanently.
  15. Jaw-droppingly beautiful work! This is one of the cleanest looking home builds I've ever seen. @LeCuvier has a great doc that details the process of editing and customizing control input LUA files. Once you've tweaked your LUA files, @Quaggles has created an outstanding mod that helps you keep your custom input files organized as well as making them persistent across DCS upgrades. Honestly, figuring out your key binds issue is going to be nothing compared to the effort it must have taken to create such a work of art like your Mustang pit. Nice job, bud.
  16. You can remove an existing bookmark by clicking on the small yellow "X" near the bookmark tab. Not exactly what you're asking for but at least you can remove existing bookmarks. Somewhat related, has anyone noticed that the kneeboard now has pre-populated bookmarks? For the Hornet, it's the first page showing carrier TACAN/ILS/etc info and the first page of my custom kneeboard pages. For the Apache, it's the CMWS page and the first custom page as well. I could've sworn this was never the case before.
  17. Thanks @Reflected. Merry Christmas to you and yours!
  18. I just updated to 2.9.10.4160 and Iraq is now available. The in-game module manager indicates I have 2 terrains eligible for installation: "DCS: Iraq area" and "DCS: Iraq North area". I bought the full map. Do I just install the full "DCS: Iraq" and call it done or do I need to install both?
  19. What format is being displayed on the left MFD and why is it in color? I haven't been spending much time in the Hornet lately but that looks so unfamiliar. Max internal fuel also is higher than what I remember. Some kind of mod?
  20. I just did some Syrian sight-seeing in the Apache and it is a gorgeous map. Nice job Ugra!
  21. I have the same mouse and OS and the stutter is gone with the latest patch.
  22. These are amazing photos! Thanks for sharing them. I've only seen the Apache as static displays at airshows so it's really cool to see the avionics powered on as well as non-inert armament loaded up. [ redacted ]
  23. You running with the aux fuel tank (indicated as IAFS)? I'm guessing yes since you only have 25% gun load. 50% fuel with IAFS, FCR, 2 rocket pods, 8 Hellfire puts you over 18,000lbs. That's pretty heavy. It might be impossible to hold an OGE hover without over-torque'ing.
