BETA 1.5 Installation - Charmed Life?
Cedaway replied to jjohnson241's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
DCS: Screenshot/Wallpaper Contest! -
I also doubled my fps. (+/- 120 at peak) and the sim is beautiful! Thank you ED. (and for the 'mountain complainers', don't forget the geometry of the caucasus map is exactly the same than in previous version. Only the terrain texture has changed)

Pre-Purchase NEVADA Test and Training Range
Cedaway replied to KEULE's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
"The NTTR map for DCS World 2 includes Nellis AFB, Creech AFB and the infamous Groom Lake AFB (aka Area 51)." I think there is a typo here. -
Wow, nice one! Took me a pair of seconds to understand.

Leatherneck Simulations Mini-Update - SEPTEMBER 2015
Cedaway replied to Cobra847's topic in Heatblur Simulations
Good news LN. Thank you for this newsletter. Could be related to anything but... AV-8b. I want to believe. :) -
Well, after several years, the situation has 'stabilized': Me: 'Oh, look, there is a new (insert hardware here, no matter what...)!' Her: 'No. You've 2 kids to wear and educate. And that's not free'. Me: 'Grblrbrllbr OK but...'. Her: 'No. Eventually for X-mas or birthday'. (no place left to add if-then-else or whatif)

Windows X, Free upgrade for the first year.
Cedaway replied to SkateZilla's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yay! I finally achived to make it run. I had to go to the 'device manager' and link/update the 'unknown device' driver to C:\Program Files (x86)\NaturalPoint\USB Drivers x64\npusbio_x64\npusbio_x64.inf (For the one who experience the same trouble with TIR/Win10...) Thanks Asparagin to light me the way. -
Windows X, Free upgrade for the first year.
Cedaway replied to SkateZilla's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Each time I plug the TIR USB plug, windows 10 tries to locate the driver but it ends as 'unknown device' and the software of TrackIR does not recognize it (no device detected). So that's why I ask if I'm alone in this case. -
Windows X, Free upgrade for the first year.
Cedaway replied to SkateZilla's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Crap, I can't launch my track IR now. When I launch the TIR program, the software don't find the hardware. I tried to reinstall the drivers (5.2.2) but it doesn't resolve the issue. Does anyone experiencing the same problem? -
From what I read, the server uses TLS 1.2 protocol with AES256 - SHA1 encryption and ECDHE (RSA) for the key exchange. I let you google that by yourself to find out the meaning ;)
-
Sad to read that. Anyway, I hope your personal problems will get fixed. Which all the best for you.

Look at my rig in the sig. We have approximately the same and the sim runs very good. Don't miss the Mig-21. It's a win

Neither DCS World 2.0 nor NTTR Map are already available. Must wait. ;)

Adding to the SD's first question: Q: When operating around Mc Carran airport, will it be possible to interact with civilian ATC to take-off / land? Will our flight be 'integrated' into the civillian traffic ? = Will we see civilian aircraft take-off / land at Mc Carran? Second question: Q: Will the collidable trees block the Line of Sight of the A.I. (radar, optical systems, eyeball Mk1) ?

DCS: World 2.0 Q&A with Matt Wagner - 28 Jun 2015
Cedaway replied to Bunyap's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Thanks Matt and Bunyap  -
Holy c***, I missed the stream due to other occupation. Hopefully there will be another in the future... Am I missing something or ED is preparing a DCS F-5?

Great newsletter ED. Thank you. Take your time to finish the baking. I really appreciated the different screenshots (hi-res available ?) Have you some news concerning SoH and Normandy maps? The F/A-18c cockpit looks great. Just a remark/question: Is the weathering already done? Because the pit seems quite 'clean' for an airplane produced between 1989 and 2000. And the Spitfire... (MS Combat Flight Sim nostalgy) Oh, a suggestion: with the release of NTTR map, is it possible to add a 'mission pack' for an aircraft or two to discover the interesting places of the map, or to challenge us (like the Su-27 missions where we have to fly at low level above a city at dusk, or the one we have to fly under bridges,...) Another suggestion/feature for the engine: is it possible to simulate the propagation of the fire? Exemple: I release a bomb on, let's say a gas station, and instead of just burning the station itself, the fire goes further and burn also the direct neighborhood. And then (but it can demand too much ressources) the direction of the propagation would be guided by the wind direction and speed at ground, the humidity (if it rains, the fire could be contained). The same with dry grasses and vegetation: if we start a fire on a dry field, it would spread... Another question: Along with NTTR (same with other future to release maps), will you release campaign/mission packs? Would the campaigns be 'semi-dynamic'? (results and destructions, attrition of forces of the previous mission taken in account for the next one - a destroyed building in mission 'n' remain destroyed in mission 'n+1')? Again, thank you ED.

F-117 Nighthawk Stealth Fighter (1991 - that's long ago...) 1992: 1942: Pacific Air War 1995: Apache Longbow And then so many more... Jane's Longbow 2, Jane's F-15E, Jane's F/A-18E, Falcon 4.0 (modded, modded and over modded...), Il-2 (all up to Cliffs of Dover), Wings of Prey, MS Flight Sim (98, 2002, FSX), X-Planes 10, MS Combat Flight Simulator I & II, LOMAC, FC1, FC2, DCS. I think the list is complete. EDIT: Forgot to add EF-2000... :) EDIT 2: I crawled for souvenirs and I found back a superb feature in Jane's F-15e (and F/A-18 IIRC): the armament management during campaigns You had to be careful to not use all your stand-off weapons the first day of conflict. That feature added a layer in immersion! Hope to see that again in DCS a day... (ED: Hint, hint)

Post #1 of the thread: More detailed tree models with collision for new maps ;)

Generally, a (public) release in alpha stage is unlikly because the code is reputed unstable and the program is not 'features frozen'. On the contrary, beta stage means the feature list is frozen (maybe not everything implemented/working/unlocked at initial release of the beta) and the code is more stable but still evolving. The performances are more on par with the required target (Think Windows 10 Technical Preview). If ED (reading entrails of chicken here) releases an Alpha-stage of DCSW2 core, that could mean the studio might be open for further development (adding features) after the alpha release but is really confident on the code stability. The features list might be still open at that stage. Software release life cycle
