It seems like one or the other. Perhaps there is a thread or process contention happenning. here are symptoms: MT DCS triggers Steam FPS VR to crash. If one is open before the other, it causes the other to crash. 1) if fps vr is open, then dcs is launched fps vr crashes 2) if dcs is open (MT) and fps vr is opened dcs crashes without error log etc looks like some sort of contention for resources, that triggers reload of the vr/hmd? no error log is generated. a restart of steamvr can occur sometimes 10700k/4090/win10/ Plazma1945

@BIGNEWY Sent you a link to track file download and tacview as well as I found similar events in GS Server Tacviews happening as well. Please check your Discord direct DM from Plazma (look for hello kitty with Kalashnikov icon). Note, issue occurs on what appear to be Lofting NON ACM/PAL shots. Affecting both 54A 54C on a 6 missile launch 1-3 may have this failure. It is unclear, but seems like a missile rudder/steering gets jammed and puts it into a spiral turn, or a gentle turn away from the aircraft. Simmilar behavior I have seen on Aim120s which do the "jammed" rudder and fly pitched up or do a flip .. etc. Cheers Thanks for the support! Plazma1945

and heres another video @IronMike I like making flanker videos not Phoenix ones.. despite all the views lol -- but the missiles are going backwards now. it looks like the control surfaces get jammed. same thing is happening on the AIM120 as well.. it does crazy 180s and 360s since the update last week .. pretty please roll it back to Pre September 2nd.. (pretty please)

So some tests I cranked out -- using standard 60 and 47 -- More testing is required. this is perlim. Improvements - significant seeker improvements. Ability to grab on to targets, and seemingly smack enemies trying to do a speed notch even .. in the replay track I re-ran an F15 which got away from my Phoenix was smacked by the updated version. Changes - and its a CHANGE not a detriment - but I am sure I will get feedaback on my faulty testing etc. So, the shorter burn, cuts the speed for a Phoenix by .5 - 1.5 mach depending on the shot. Bombers and dumb targets are just as easily smacked. A player in competition now has more time 10-20 seconds more as the Phoenix now has not been gaining speed for as long and therefore if a pilot begins maneuvers it will drain the lower available energy in the missile. So in a competition match <10-15 mile shots are possible, but likely to be easier to avoid: in my test in an active 15 mile shot old 54 arrived to target at m 3.8 vs new updated missile at which got there at 2.33.. if the pilot did a couple of turns it would have reduced speed to such that the missile could be out energied. Whereas the old missile not so much perhaps. I still stick to my idea that the TOMCAT was designed for Carrier group defense against large targets via the AIm54s (tu-9x 14x 2x etc) ... Whereas just as we saw in TopGUN close up sparrows were the stick to use. We are getting into realism, it would be SWEET if we can get a AIM54a-mk69 a missile for PVP and Competition, something with performance of the old phoenix, as it made the tomcat fun and viable and dangerous enemy in comps. My 2.5 cents and some videos side by side of the Mk60 behavior. PS Cover to support the panic that the update will generate PANIC PANIC PANIC LOL

Great work Heatblur and ED! Noticeable improvement - 64NM Splash! Great stuff. Missile speed retention is fantastic. Thank you!!! This is great great great.. updated video is up! ***** update / note **** Note - > I had a strange behavior where two missiles went up into space (first 2 minutes of video) - otherwise its BACK BABY! target 50miles LOW (3000) launch from 4000-5000 radar lock never broke missiles went up to 40k..lost speed and died twice.. weird.. hmm please see if you can replicate - screenshot of launch parameter attached - second launch was from 25 miles.. and it also went up to space. -

yup tested down low too and high (low alt test because in PVP/ Sata-L/C matches often last launches from Tomcats are in a dogfight < 15 miles) - https://www.redstardcs.com/miz/phxtest2022.miz my test file i used is here there are 3 hostiles at altitudes of 6 / 10 / 35 and two more coming in from turkey at 35 and you start out high and fast.. the high and fast.. merge launched at 35,000 and m1.4 missile still was out turned by a gentle right roll of a hostile pilot.. -

Mk60 test Aye.. But even they struggle.. target 2900 hot 450kn 17.7nm me 2995 hot 575 kn launch -- missile pretty much flies head on.. after boost looses all speed... (drag chute) and hits target at speed of 390-410kn my MIZ file is posted if you want to try it I have a target B52 at 3000 B52 at 10000 F15 (rookie) at 35000 AIM54mk60 and 54C voila. -

Really simple suggestion - can we reset them back to previous settings. Until further investigation is performed and fixed etc. change burn to 25 seconds and keep everything the way it was. -
tried launching the TALD's today - their wings do not appear to fold open, I am not quite able to ascertain if the wings are helping or not here are the TALD flight parameters launch at 29k .86mach f14a TALD distance travelled 57miles before going negative altitude average rate was -4000feet per minute drop in altitde TALD's maintained .6 mach for the first part of the flight

Reporting this bug which I have confirmed on 1) Windows 10 mixed install - oculus, steam vr, wmr 2) Windows 10 clean install - DCS SteamVR WMR only Loading into DCS MP (Growling sidewinder) Take off flight (did not use external view F2/F4 etc) RTB, shot down - during crash ejected.. and pressed F2 to watch video of a couple of allies before respawn at respawn FPS drop from 45-60 fps to 28-35 with noticeable stutter. tested flight, eject respawn during another flight same server different uptime. same effect, performance drop of severe nature. Super awesome advice. Thank you very very much for your insight, the VRAM is definitely a consideration, as the 3060Ti vram loses 2gb before I even start loading the mission (just on the hangar) .. and also need a bigger PSU since mine is 650 Bronze, you mentioned a 1000 or 850 above in another thread. Thanks very much again! ... re VRAM -- I was trying to tweak.. and I posted in another thread about editing an LUA file to purge the Mig29 out of the Hangar to relieve some VRAM waste during the menu screen (you might not need it, but it speeds up the loading a little bit). Thanks again, will go see if I can find that card, if its still there hahaha! ps the shimmering is evil.

Hi Raven, @Raven (Elysian Angel) need your wisdom pls.. ive got a chance to pick up an 6900xt and have a reverb g2 with an intel 10700 rig. Currently ive got a 3060TI and getting about 20-30fps in multiplayer (sometimes 40) under 2.5.6 --- whats your feedback on 6900xt, what fps are you getting and how are you doing in Multiplayer for FPS? I have been an nvidia fanboy for a while, but I dont think I will be able to get a 3090 for a few years.. whats your FPS trying to decide if its worth getting, if you get 45-50 fps in DCS MP stable it will be worth it for me. Any issues with 6900xt... (have reverb g2).. Cheers plas

First thread - squeezing out fps in VR - 3060Ti
plasma1945 replied to plasma1945's topic in Virtual Reality
@Harlikwin Ill add any other notes and observations as well here. Funny, thing, I used to fly in Flaming Cliffs in 2009/2010 on .. some kind of a video card maybe it was a Gefore3? and old core 2, then dropped it for about 10 years and got back into it recently thanks to "the unspecified global event" - and boy did dcs get pretty since 2009..- 9 replies

First thread - squeezing out fps in VR - 3060Ti
plasma1945 replied to plasma1945's topic in Virtual Reality
I wonder if you are running the exact same workstation as I do ive got a Dell Precision T1650 got it as a refurb - What FPS were you getting ? Shoot me what settings you had in your VR. A huge upgrade for me was to buy a PCI-Express adapter which lets you install NVME storage and a 500gb NVME Samsung 860? or 870 card. This is for us poor old folks without onboard NVME. But the speeds on NVME is about 5-8 times faster than SSD. https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX80490 thats the card I got and put in the https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX76115 It doesnt load up the memory right away, I dont know if it helps the game, since it doesnt have to unload/reload textures -- But usually programs are (unless they are well written) bad at memory clean up. Also it gets you to the choose mission screen a few moments faster I found.- 9 replies

Want To Try VR for DCS, Please Rate my PC
plasma1945 replied to PJPower05's topic in Virtual Reality
I just posted about a struggle with my i7 3770 and 3060 TI.. I think you will get easily 40-45 fps in multiplayer in VR and about 60-70 in single player. Your CPU is the exact CPU i was looking at so please send me an @ once you have gotten VR going. For the headset.. I would say the G2 is the only way to go, they are hard to get I had to wait for a few months to get mine. However, you can always TURN down the quality, but its hard to turn up the quality if your headset doesnt support it. G2 looks graphics proof for the next 3-5 years.. give or take. Good luck let me know how the setup works out for you! -
Hi Everyone, First post in the forum - and please come and shoot me down online rather than flame me here - I am usually growling on the sidewinder server Let me know if you have any tips beyond the ones below? For improving online play mainly. Shader replacement seems so so, as sometimes I fail to pass check so I stopped that approach. ----I have an old Dell workstation 32gb ram i7-3770 (9 year old cpu) - for other games it keeps up - but DCS. The CPU is my bottleneck. Config: For VR i got a G2 Reverb and 3060Ti to replace my 1060 (non VR the rig was 50-80fps on the 1060). I figured I would document and share my experience at getting FPS out of my rig, as best as I can and some tweaks which perhaps can be helpful to others. > Pixel density 1.2, Shadows Flat, Ground @ Low - Grass Off - (no heat no dirt) - hotplug disabled > Steam VR resolution set to 1900x1900 or so - no smoothing, as that seems to make things jittery > To get extra 45% in FPS (single player from 30 -> 50fps) (multi from 15/20 -> 35/40 fps) :: SMT Hyperthread disable totally helped > To get extra 5 FPS and minimize ram on the VR - went to download Skyscenes and installed "Empty Room" as default Windows Mixed Reality Starting space > VRAM use went from 3.2gb to 2.5gb (with no game running) > To get extra 5 fps > disabled secondary monitor and set primary monitor to 1920x1080 and right click on desktop - hide desktop icons > To get extra 3-4 fps and prevent memory swapping into video memory modified default Hanger to NOT load anything in VR (this prevents your VRAM getting slammed with a pretty hangar..oooh..who cares) I cut out all models from loading: DCS World OpenBeta\Scripts\DemoScenes\sceneVR.lua (backup your file as a copy before you modify it) bottom line, GPU FPS is ok.. but still my CPU is getting nailed. in single player its happy, in multi it gets destroyed and brings the fps down..but at least I can still fly for another year or so until I get a new mobo/cpu/ram on this rig at around 45-50fps in multiplayer. Cheers everyone!
