The turbulence is most noticeable during takeoff and landing, try it for yourself. Keep in mind that turbulence is not the easiest thing to simulate, unless you have a motion simulator

I can attest to Eddie's mastery of the profile page... He is a true champion of such thorough planning. Eddie, perhaps a YouTube tutorial (time permitting) is in order for us slightly more stick and rudder kinda guys

Cockpit settings, data cartrage, and handling.
SmokeyTheLung replied to wess24m's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
You should play with the "prepare mission" function. It's not exactly what you're looking for, but it might help a little... I think it's documented in the GUI manual Edit: Sniped right in the face by ole quick draw Eddie! Don't you have a job or something :D -
Here is a (slightly :)) more user friendly way of getting some randomness into your missions. Basically, you use triggers and flags to spawn certain groups that you've placed in the ME. AFAC Random.miz

Enhanced crater/scorched ground texture
SmokeyTheLung replied to Mustang's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Thanks Mustang! -
Press and hold one of the lower OSBs on a MFCD (right or left, doesn't matter). This will take you to a page where you can customize your MFCD pages, look for the entry labeled "LOAD". Press it, than press the OSB that corresponds to the page you are going to replace (TGP, TAD etc.). Now your MFCD will have a load page, cycle to it with the collie hat (or just hit the OSB under LOAD) and choose "LOAD DSMS". Done :) Hope that wasn't too hard to follow

Stuka, this reminds me of the parking situation on my block! now we just need some fire trucks:)

To make money... Is that a serious question(?):D

I'm going to guess that the ability to set these in the pit is there for pilots to ensure that the FCC will calculate the correct impact point for whatever setting the ground crew sets the bomb to (?) I guess that's what you're getting at?

Nice post Snoopy! Thanks for the improved sounds so far, now all you have to do is convince your CO to let you fire the gun :D

Laser "endurance", Laser getting too hot ?
SmokeyTheLung replied to JaBoG32_Prinzartus's topic in Bugs and Problems
As far as I know the laser will fire indefinitely in the sim. Since the first beta, very rarely, I've run into an inoprativve laser ("L" won't flash for joystick/keyboard commands) but I've always assumed it was an obscure bug. What did you guys discover? Or did a few of you just lose the ability to lase after a while? -
Quick way to do it would be to slew your TAD cursor over the waypoint and place some mark points (TMS right with TAD as SOI). Those will be a ground level by default. You can also edit the altitude of the waypoint with the CDU... I'm a little rusty, hopefully someone in the know will chime in

I think it's a .30 cal penetrator. Afaik there is no incendiary filler, but depleted uranium is a pyrophoric (?) material that has incendiary properties... When it hits somthing hard going 600 m/s+

A little off topic... I've just read that several, otherwise unstoppable, Tiger tanks were "knocked out" by white phosphorus tank shells during and after the normandy invasion of WWII. The crews just up and left their vehicles to get some fresh air! Food for thought
-
Just to add to that, pilots will apparently (sometimes :)) lay down two smokes than use that as a distance reference. (from A10s over Kosovo).

Can't really comment on the tech stuff, but if you look around in these forums you'll find hundreds (at least :)) of posts/bug reports related to DCS running on 32bit. Probably best to heed the Devs advice and run 64 bit

Sounds like a gimbal role/lock?

One of the reasons that this form of bombing was/is used (based on my very limited understanding) is to be able to stay at low level and deliver weapons without fragging yourself. It works in the a10 in the sense that you can start your delivery as low as you can fly, and you'll have plenty of time to do a half roll and get out of there. I'm assuming that the technique was developed for a threat environment that required low level flying, that being said I'm hard pressed to find a situation where I can't get the job done better with some mk 82 airs. It's a fairly fun for of bombing to play around with though :D

I tend to agree that the JTAC won't make a comeback I'm hopeful that some clever modders will take a look at the existing code from the early betas and combine it with the drivable vehicles mod. I would image it would be workable as a rudimentary multiplayer JTAC format, but it's a long shot. The concept of a proper "battlefield commander" mode is an awesome one IMO. The thought of a red team with some KA-50 assets vs. a blue team with some A-10s sounds pretty epic. But I won't be holding my breath on that one either

Can't get my CBU-103's to drop correctly
SmokeyTheLung replied to Oceansize's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
The CBUs and JDAMS use your SPI for guidance, by default this will be your steer-point. If you want them to hit what you're viewing in your TGP, you must make your TGP line of sight your SPI (TMS up long with TGP as SOI) Hope that helps -
I believe that's the "hot mic" feature, I'm sure Snoopy can explain it more thoroughly/correctly

It seems that the crowd that was willing to pre-order, is probably also the crowd that would be happy to shell out a few extra bucks for new content. Well I understand that budgets are tight, I just can't wrap my brain around the idea that new content shouldn't cost money. Time=money Why should ED hold their business to a standard that really doesn't exist elsewhere? So I make guitars for a living, if I make you a guitar and than nine months later I develop a better pickup/bracing pattern you better believe that I won't upgrade your guitar for free! Not because I'm a scumbag, but because I have bills to pay.

I just set my Master Card as SOI... :pilotfly:
