MiG-29A FF: capabilities and how will it fit into the (meta)game?
F-2 replied to PawlaczGMD's topic in DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum
The 9.12B has a weaker processor but it has the same range as the Soviet and Warsaw pact version per overscan. -
Expectation on Air to Air missiles of the MiG-29A?
F-2 replied to pepin1234's topic in DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum
The only difference between N019 and N019EA A single mode which was replaced on later production batches and not used much anyway. -

Since Python 3 is currently in game as PL-8, could it be added to the F-15C?

Yea, Mig-29S is very important because If it’s Fox 3 and Mig-29G is actually the only modernish Non American or French NATO fighter till the Typhoon drops.

Personally I think we’ll see a Raptor long before an F-35. Raptor isn’t even out of the DCS 2000s timeframes and in terms of software is actually less complex then our Hornet. I’d still give it 5-10 years though. F-35 is much more realistic as an asset, the Typhoon with Meteor is somewhat contemporary. Though I see it as a nice to have rather then an immediate need. Block II super hornet is still unlikely which makes me skeptical of an F-35 till at least the 2030s.

We do have a publicly available EM chart for the F-35 and a scatter study could give a good idea of RCS, certainly enough for AI. Though I could spend a day talking AI assets we could use.

@Chizh do you have any want of the SMT pilots handbook for the Zhuk radar? It’s for the Yemeni version with lacks a hump and is otherwise very similar to 9.12

Thanks man! probably even easier then. Classic airframe and much more modernized avonics. -

SMT 9.18 uses the 9.13 airframe and no hump and similar performance. The radar manual for the export Yemeni version has been publicly available for around a decade like the manuals being used for this module. Maybe that, we would have a 9.12B to correspond with the FC3 9.12 and a 9.18 to correspond with the FC3 9.13S. -
AMR-1 was a project to turn the Pl-11 into a ARH missile. I don’t think it was produced but it did make it to hardware prototype. 1996 Zhuhai show

Mig-29A avionic vs NATO avionic opponents (only cold war avionic)

https://www.f-16.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=58250&start=105 from what I gather from this and the GAO report the 402 hornet is similar to the block 52 in terms of its traditional dogfighting performance but has its high AoA capabilities. Block 50 is a bit better then the 52 in this regard but probably not nearly enough to overcome the high AoA advantage. it seems the hornets high AoA is no joke I recall but can’t remember where a Raptor pilot called the 402 Hornet the toughest opponent in BFM

Would love it. Some of them are on discord but I’m not sure if they can run a server.

If there is one it’s news to me though it might be possible to get one through legal means As I understand it from reading Billion Dollar Spy, Tolkachev only compromised the specs of N019’s target recognition system and made the CIA aware it existed. Most of the hard documents he provided were related to various versions of SAPFIR and ZASLON. I do recall reading that N019 was pretty poor against ECM pods of the era.

Didn’t the RDI enter service in 1987? I know the mirage 2000C has some extra 90s add ons but it’s still pretty fundamentally similar to the late 80s aircraft. The mirage 2000 RDM were never really wanted children (the French were arm twisted into buying to boost export prospects) and cast off to Djibouti and as far as I know not really planned for the defense of France in a Cold War gone hot. RDM had lots of issues that I don’t know if were actually resolved by the time RDI entered service. RDM is also pretty similar to the F-1 radar and used the super 530f in French service (while export aircraft got the D) and the two are probably very similar as BVR platforms. With the smaller engine they had performance somewhat between the F-1 and big engine mirage.
