The CIA seems to have been aware of the Mig-23ml Kinimatic improvements as early as 1979 as well as the radar improvements.

However by 1986 when the CIA wrote this report they knew a lot about the aircraft’s avonics. Billion dollar spy explicitly mentions Tolkachev has turned over extensive documentation on According to this declassified memo It seems they had excellent intelligence on the the MLA/D’s radar and missiles when they wrote that. They also mention having a lot on the Mig-25PD which uses a scaled up version of the same radar.

I thought it was a Tranche II. The old Tranche I pre-block V upgrade was VEAOs eurofighter correct? I think we are supposed to launch with air to air only and it will be similar to a T1 aircraft but will eventually become a T2. I thought that was it anyway. Though T1 has the advantage of a manual in the wild.

NASIC bought quite a few in the 90s. Perhaps if the legal issues are cleared up it will be possible to do all three FC3 Migs as full fidelity.

NASIC purchased Moldovan 9.12 and 9.13 Mig-29 in 1997. Probably can get very detailed info from them.

Of course, I completely understand. But if you or anyone else ever want to make one I can point you in the right direction for documentation.

I got a tremendous amount on the Mig-29 systems. I don’t think docs are an issue, probably just legal fears from ED. But I actually hope a third party picks it up. I have great docs on the Radar and it would be awesome if one of the devs with the great radar models picked it up.
