1. Cali, we are still in a 1vs1, SARH vs ARH situation. And sure, I admit that pressing against incoming ARHs can be unrealistic :)
2. Pressing this way and loose contact with the bandit can bring cold sweat, sometimes :D
3. Pressing while wide barrel rolling at maximum angular speed, "could" get me killed :D . And, while executing the pressing, there must be a continuous evaluation of the situation. If in clear disadvantage, disengage. The "normal" F-15 solution, for an agressive bandit, will be a second ARH launch and extend.
4. When pressing, I'm not sitting and sightseeing. Sometimes it is insane, even with an opposing F-15C also agressive. I call it barrel rolling till death :D. Until the merge. This new missile dynamics is adding a lot to gameplay.
5. Well, we will never know that 8 ARH are incoming :) Normally, in a MiG-29, I'll never try to notch. Maintaining corner speed and maneuvering out of the missiles plane, guiding the launched SARH with the target inside of radar gimbal; change altitude and launch at maximum energy state, dragging the incoming missiles again to the terrain clutter. Go beneath the F-15 radar and stick it in the belly. Or not. :) If the incoming ARH missiles were launched inside 20 km, You're probably in trouble :) It depends on the "size of your spear". If it's a short one, You will want to bring the fight closer.
6. Politics apart, retaining that the weapons systems are with similar characteristics, the fight will pend for the TEAM which has better training. Someone referenced, in the Russian thread about missiles in FC3, that the minimum unit will ever be the pair :)
7. The fact is that in the first night of Operation Desert Storm, the Iraqi Air Force loose their Early Warning radars, followed by extensive Offensive Anti-air warfare. "By the book".
8. Relating airbase runway lighting, the lights shouldn't be turned off after incoming unknown/enemy aircraft are detected by GCI/AWACS? If it isn't to difficult to implement the logic, this and permanent runway destruction should add to gameplay.
9. Here we go again :D People, accept that the developer is using the available data to model the missile behavior. If the contrary is true, bring your data to the table. Right now, from my tests with SP and Tacview, the R-77 and R-27ER accelerate until more then 6-8km with a maximum speed around 4000km/h. The maximum speed of the AIM-120 is around 5300km/h. For the Fulcrum's jockeys: the optimum range to a R-77 launch is around 25km, considering equal altitudes and a launch speed around 800-1000km/h. All the missiles are dragging and lousing speed when maneuvering. I reviewed the tracks. Taking account for the different launch ASL, here are the rough numbers:
Missile Distance until max TAS max TAS ASL at launch AIM-7M 11 km 4900 km/h 10000 m R-27R 4 km 4400 km/h 9000 m R-27ER 8 km 4400 km/h 8000 m AIM-120B 8 km 5200 km/h 11000 m R-77 5 km 4000 km/h 5700 m AIM-120C 8 km 5300 km/h 8000 m
10. Teknetinium refereed about the underdogs. I just love to be with the underdogs :D. What amusement can we retire with some über weapons systems. Yesterday, after get bored waiting for the new missile dynamics iteration, I jumped on the 104th server for a while. After had lost a F-15 and shoot a bandit Frogfoot with a R-77 (sh***y MiG-29 radar...), I had to run after an extending F-15... As not enough amusement, I run a quick mission, 100km head-on separation between an AI F-15 and a MiG-29A: not difficult enough to splash the Eagle. Second try: 2vs2. Then, after indicate my wingman go pincer high and he went to see the birds (literally) instead of engage the wingman bandit as ordered, without labels I was raped almost all the time. And, IMHO, this should be the attitude here. We are simulating systems and situations. This is no real combat, neither we are training for real situations, even if combat is almost always dissimilar.
11. ^^ This. :D But of course there are good news. I laugh a lot with the whining circus, something sometimes hilarious but inevitable. I don't care what airplanes and systems are being implemented, as long the capabilities are well known and adopted. Then we adapt the use and tactics, and that is the main source of joy.
12. I had tried the VNAO MiG-29K online at Moa's Stallturn VNAO server, and while using the K engine thrust and improved radar range detection capability, anticipating the AIM-54 launch and get in optimal range for a R-77 launch while evading, it was a no-brainer. With the new AFM missile dynamics even supposing the 54's being fast missiles, I foresee they will be easier to evade. As usual, it will be a matter of team tactics or outnumbering, being the F-14's sensors opposing airplanes still with the lower hand.
13. The imagery used in DCS A-10C is referenced in WGS84: you only have to convert, on-the-fly, to the coordinate system you are using to take measures. And I it's not that difficult to model a spherical surface, as it is an numerical model with well known parameters. You only have to coordinate the geographical features transitions between adjacent map modules.

Happy birthday! :)

16. A HAIRY situation. Those 30mm cracking and others passing by...
17. ^^ Very good. Techno. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkguoBVJIH8&fmt=18 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBOaojkeHrc&fmt=18
18. And from the other side of the Atlantic :) Groovy!
19. RMB :)
20. I already experimented to take control of the T-72B and I had M-1's firing on me from long range with HEAT rounds. Not being a specialist, HEAT projectiles can be fired with more loft trajectories while sabots need kinetic energy to be effective, so the less employment range. The Svir and Refleks missiles are deadly from 5000-4000m, at a stationary target (and without rangefinder/fire computer and stabilized turrets, the only human employable weapon against armor from distance until now).
21. Are you hoping for nightmares made real? :) It was after that people start to teach children that to call someone Impisa was for a good reason :D Isn't this starting to get political derailing? :) And yes, hail to Beczl. I'm hoping that the MiG-23MF will be implemented.
22. Excellent! More targets to shoot at.
23. Hi :) You should have used the auto-updater to update DCS World and all the modules from 1.2.1 to 1.2.2. If you don't know the location, is in the Eagle Dynamics menu, at Start Menu. Cheers
24. While configurating the controls, I tried all the birds. The flight model is tweaked compared with FC2. More fluid transitions and entering a stall is no more with scripted feeling. Regarding the missiles AFM, surprise! :) No more point and shoot.
