  4. Probably, there is the need to define the ground objects properties and ground units behavior when in various scenarios. It's a matter to know if that is already implemented or in a feature list to add. This should be in an open document, available to 3rd parties and modders. But, as this aspect will reside in the engine core, I'm not sure if it will be available. At least the various units behaviors should be explicit to avoid the trial and error.
  5. I'm curious about this project. This aspect is as important for immersion as to have the systems realistically modeled. If the vegetation and structures become opaque for various sensors and gain a collision model, it will be a milestone. I'm not a lot into graphic rendering, but does the current engine or will EDGE have the capability to use particles systems? Doesn't particle systems manage "more easily" fuzzy systems of various vegetation objects... at least the understorey layer or forest floor, leaving the canopy for collision model?
  6. Many moons ago, someone wrote (no sure if was Wags) about the possibility to implement some communication features in the code. I hope that is still considered to develop/implement. It will help a lot in integrate multiplayer.
  7. I think the ED 3rd party policy extend to sceneries/War Theaters. To produce a good war theater it will be needed a lot (I mean a lot) of time investment, and the payable option will assure the quality expected by the community.
  8. Some form structure to input the mission data and the capability to print or export to *.ps or *.pdf This is important. The capability to add graphic and text overlays with attack sectors and phase lines, in conjunction with all the tactical simbology. The cartography shown on DCS A-10C TAD should appear in mission editor and in some tactical display. At ground level it will be need, for navigation, higher scale topographic maps: 1:100.000, 1:50.000 and 1:25.000.
  9. Map options: -Creation of viewsheds with firing and detection range as options, for a location, an individual ground group or all ground units (same team). -The display of slope distribution (or trafficability as a conjunction of other factors, ).
  10. You must not be disappointed because the development is on the right path. I hope this step will be bringing more simmers to DCS and catch the interest of the BF/ARMA/etc players. ED needs cash flow to all this that's on the table.

The simulation of mechanized warfare brings the necessity of a higher resolution terrain/infrastructures model (which EDGE and tessellation, in the middle of other unknown detail, will help to solve). The simulation of infantry combat, even mechanized infantry, will be a further problem to the terrain model resolution and detail, and hardware necessity. So we must be patient and recognize we are right now only teasing ED :)

  13. LOL I don't know about ED strategy for the air defense aspect development but I sent one e-mail to the SAM Simulator developer advising him to take the iniciative to contact ED.

" This remembered me of the Total Air War (TAW) campaign system. There were objectives, tactical and political, which their achievement ended with victory; in a practical way it was quantified by the relative amount of destruction or neutralization for one or a combination of variables: Fielded Forces, Population, Infrastructure, Key Production and Leadership. The management was in choosing our forces application in each of this variables. I advice the devs to give a look (if they didn't that already) in the TAW manuals and game, for some ideas.

  20. I prefer also longbows or recurves. The compound ones are too much technology. For a while I was to buy a recurve crossbow (an Excalibur); I like to shot with them but it was mainly for hunting wild boars. Right now I prefer to let the beasts in peace :)
  21. I used to climb until an abseiling went wrong and I lost a knee. Right now I'm only trekking. After that I do some freshwater angling and canoeing. I like to read. I can't be more than two days without going out for a drink with friends. I did some archery for a small period of time, also :)
