  1. Wow, that was a lot harder than I thought! Stuck on the third mission; all my experience in WWII fighters does me no good at all. :) This feels like the first time all over again. Guess I'd better check out the Hints and Tips thread.
  2. Is it better to start with this BFM campaign or the ACM campaign? EDIT: Guess this is a good answer:
  3. Really? The website still says it's out of stock for the Gunfighter Mk.II. :(
  4. That is frustrating. I'm very glad I ordered the KG12 when I did, but I'd still like to order an MCG Pro once they're available again in NA.
  5. 11 or 12 when I saw this on VHS. What a treat to watch it on blu ray these days in a small home theatre. :D
  6. Any news on when the MCG Pro will be available again in NA?
  7. Agreed, would love a good excuse to learn to fly the 190.
  8. Rest assured that all of us have gone through this and have had the same frustrations. It's not so much about learning how to use this simulator, but in fact, learning how to fly! (see the post by Eclipse above). If you accept that there is a lot to learn and find accomplishment in incremental achievements then you'll have a much more rewarding experience. Stick to a specific discipline (helicopters? modern jets? WW2 props?), then stick with a specific aircraft and learn all the different aspects of operating it (avionics? VFR navigation? aerial gunnery?). Eventually, it will all come together and you'll be completing missions using the multi-disciplinary skill-set you've developed, and that, good sir, IS THE GREATEST REWARD OF ALL! ;) Then later when you switch to a new aircraft, be ready to start the process over again. One of the most wonderful aspects of flight simulation is there's practically no end to the things you can learn! :)
  9. Not content, but hosted multiplayer game server: http://burning-skies.com/en/
  10. Thanks from me as well. The map is beautiful, and somehow the performance is just mind-blowing! :D
  11. +1! Would be great to see a campaign for each of the WWII modules. Also, is there a good WWII multiplayer server anyone would recommend? EDIT: Never mind, just found the Burning Skies web page! :)
  12. Just asking. :)
  13. That's interesting, I didn't know the Odyssey was supported in DCS. Is there any downside to using this instead of the Rift?
  14. This looks great. I wish more throttle controls had rotary dials for prop pitch, mixture and elevator trim. It's really awkward not to have those.
  15. I get motion sickness when playing floating zero-gravity games where you're in space. For racing/flying simulators where you have grounded, physical controls to hang onto, it's much easier. In any case, it might take a week or so of short play sessions for you to get used to it. For me, having ButtKicker Gamer 2 (or something similar) is the biggest factor in having completely zero motion sickness. I highly recommend it.
  16. Cool, I'll have to give these a try. Would love to get to know the Focke-Wulf!
  17. What helped me a lot was to go back to a civil aviation sim (doesn't matter which one) to learn and practice the very basics of piloting and navigation (take-off, landing, VOR, NDB). Once you're comfortable with this, moving into DCS modules isn't nearly as overwhelming. You'd be surprised how the basic fundamentals serves as a solid springboard for the more advanced military stuff. :)
  18. Looks like today's update to version 2.5.2 has corrected the same missions that were giving me trouble. In this case, I would recommend buying it. I just wish I had waited to play it until after these fixes were done. ;)
  19. It's a shame, this campaign doesn't work very well in 2.5. Issues like missing triggers and misleading information mean that you can't finish the campaign without hacking it. I'm sorry I spent money on this.
  20. Sweet, this could be just the thing to get me flying online again.
  21. Mango

    Frustrated.

The Ka-50 also has stabilizing auto-pilot channels for pitch, roll and yaw. Try turning those off and you'll realize just how much they help. ;) That combined with coaxial rotors make it much easier to fly.
  22. Now that was seriously awesome!! Nice ax, too. :)
  23. How different is the MiG-15 campaign from the F-86 campaign? Are they basically the same mission types with different aircraft substituted for the two sides?
  24. I could see this being very handy in the A-10C. For those times when you set your AP to orbit a WP and go heads down in the MFCD's.
  25. Learn to touch type. ;) Seriously, that has been a huge advantage for me when using the Rift or playing in a dark room.
