  1. A bit more testing: attacking a realistic 3 squadron, 32 ship combat box of B-17s with the latest build is tough, very tough, as long the the formations stays together. Attack from behind and you're almost certain to get shot down. I found that the only way I could get in more than 1-2 attacks was to attack the formation head on, which seems quite realistic. If only we could get the bombers to stay in formation while firing back... I'll try Shahdoh's defense script later tonight.
  2. It's not really a mission (yet), merely a test. The combat box is "hand crafted" using single ship groups so the formation is basically restricted to flying straight ahead.
  3. Could you provide an example for scripting bombing/defense? As I've said, I've already set their threat reaction to none but they still leave their assigned flight path.
  4. Just run my test mission and the results looked good, got quite a few more destroyed B-17s now. One thing though: is there any way to restrict the aircraft from taking evasive action? I've already set AI reaction to threat to "none". Anything else to do? Oh, and thanks again for all your efforts, really amazing work.
  5. Same problem here. EDIT: deleting the input file fixed the problem, thanks!
  6. Just wanted to say THANK YOU for this wonderful B-17 mod!
  7. Textures don't change back for me. My settings for "high" district = { maxDistrictsAround = 100000; farDistance = 30000; farFullRenderDistance = 20000; nearFullRenderDistance = 20000; nearDistance = 20000;
  8. Thanks for the mod and the tip with the nearFullRenderdistance value! Very, very nice!
  9. Yeah, it's one of those things were a "less realistic" approach is IMO better. Just make it a loadout option.
  10. Just drop the two folders INSIDE the folder "Caucasus map DLC by Starway" into your ...\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World folder and let it overwrite all files. You REALLY should use JGSME though, it's such a great little program. Just uninstall/reinstall it.
  11. Looks very, very nice! :thumbup: https://abload.de/img/dcs2016-06-0122-09-19zrs99.jpg https://abload.de/img/dcs2016-06-0122-26-29qgs7f.jpg https://abload.de/img/dcs2016-06-0122-27-50zlsqf.jpg https://abload.de/img/dcs2016-06-0122-32-3858st5.jpg https://abload.de/img/dcs2016-06-0122-34-42xesav.jpg https://abload.de/img/dcs2016-06-0122-36-5274sum.jpg
  12. One of the most important things when flying the Mustang is to keep the speed up to improve engine cooling. Low speed combined with even medium-high ATA/RPM setting will overheat the engine in no time.
  13. The various docs from the 476th are extremely helpful. We've been using them in our squad for wingman/formation training for some time now and I can't stress how much proper tactics and procedures improve the effectiveness of our flying.
  14. Woah, what a fantastic project!
  15. The problem is that DCS doesn't really simulate fragmentation effects for munitions. Instead it uses a "blast radius". And while this works reasonably well for bigger bombs smaller weapons like bomblets and rockets suffer in their performance.
  16. No, it's the old 3d mesh that is the problem. We will have to wait until the Caucasus map gets updated.
  17. Or you you could just push the yellow lever at the top of the cockpit all the way forward.
  18. Hide behind a hill. Pop up slowly until you can just acquire a target. Rise a little higher so you can fire off a TOW. Fire TOW and carefully sink again until you can just keep the target in your sight. You cannot expect to engage targets capable of launching ATGMs at you without some kind of cover and survive.
  19. I don't think there is such a mode. You would need a terrain following radar for that.
  20. Really enjoying the Gazelle, well worth the money. :thumbup:
