As stated here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/news/2021-02-26/ we are getting the MTADS and the MPNVS systems in DCS which were part of the "Arrowhead" update: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Target_Acquisition_and_Designation_Sights,_Pilot_Night_Vision_System Skimming over this article: https://www.aviationtoday.com/2007/02/01/arrowheads-vision-enhancement/ the TEDAC was also part of the Arrowhead upgrade. So am I right in supposing that the DCS Apache will have a TEDAC or am I missing something?

Only by deselecting them in the mission editor (as far as I know)

Overview of real Carrier Strike Group compositions
Wychmaster replied to Wychmaster's topic in Mission Editor
Those links are almost what I wanted ... However, after a first look I didn't find any strike group compositions on those two pages. Are they hidden somewhere on these pages? Otherwise, I ll probably find the info by just searching the internet. -

Well, a human gunner has the magnifying optics and doesn't need to pay attention where the aircraft is going. So I would say two man in the same chopper have better situational awareness (at least if they fly in formation) than two single player choppers. However, I agree that two choppers are generally the better choice.

Overview of real Carrier Strike Group compositions
Wychmaster replied to Wychmaster's topic in Mission Editor
Thanks a lot. This will certainly help. I'll update the list in the initial post, whenever I collect enough info for one of my missions. -
As far as I know, America relies on air superiority. If you own the skies, there is nothing left your helicopters need stingers for. In case there are still other helicopters, hellfires will do the trick and to get rid of enemy jets you simply take cover and let you airforce buddies handle them. So stingers would be dead weight in 99,9% of the time. To my knowledge, this approach is unique to the US since no other country can afford (maybe china) to maintain such a large airforce that guarantees your air superiority over almost all other countries. Hence, other countries are interested in AA missiles on their choppers while the US isn't. In DCS, the situation depends on which server you play but I am honestly not sure if stingers would be a real game changer and might not give you false confidence in your self-defense capabilities. You would still not stand a chance engaging a half way decent fighter pilot. In real life, a fighter pilot might be scared by some stingers coming his way. In DCS, I pretty much doubt it. And other helicopters,... I am not sure if hellfires wouldn't be the better option since they aren't distracted by flares.

I really like the look of it

Hi everybody, I am looking for information about real CSG compositions of the available Carriers in DCS, including as much details as possible. For example the names of the ships, the number and types of aircrafts deployed, tha squadrons etc. I don't know if there is already a thread about it (didn't find one), if so, please point me into the right direction. Otherwise, feel invited to gather the information together with me. I will try to update this post with every bit of extra information you and I have gathered. Try to use the same formatting as in this post, so that updates are simple copy and paste work for me CVN 72 - USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group 9 (since 01.04.2019) Fleet Composition - USS Leyte Gulf (CG-54) --- Ticonderoga class - USS Mitscher (DDG-57) --- Arleigh Burke class - USS Winston S. Beziehst du dich hierbei auf die Gazelle?

This is what I meant. As said before haven't thaught about it much, just noticed that the water was very still and it seemed flat when I flew 100 feet above it at 500knots. Haven't compared it to 2d and haven't tried different wind settings yet.

Also noticed that the water was totally flat but I haven't thaught much about the reason. Maybe there is a simple bug that some options are not passed correctly to the engine when the VR mode is active. Fingers crossed that it is that simple and that we get a hotfix.

How important is a pair of rudder pedals
Wychmaster replied to foxonefoxtwo's topic in DCS: Mi-24P Hind
In case you decide to buy some peddals I would recommend buying more expensive ones. Yes, 300+ bucks is a lot of money for "just" 3 axis (counting the breaks) but from personal expierience, the cheap ones didn't satisfy me for long. The Thrustmaster TFRP I had, always slipped over the ground and putting them against a wall didnt help much either due to the curved front. The internal friction was too high so that the inputs were quiet jumpy. Tried some lubricant, didn't help much. Feet distance and spring stiffness were other issues. All the things were solved by buying the Thrusmaster TPR and the difference was totally worth the price to me. Another pair of peddals I was able to test at a friends place were the MFG crosswind. They are also really nice and the price is half way between the TFRP and the TPR. Another alternative are the ones from VIRPIL. I had no chance to test them jet. I know that some people are totally happy with the cheap ones and you have to decide it on your own but at least you should know that price really makes a difference (until you hit the 300+ border) when it come to pedals -
I read somewhere that the sale won't be on steam. Apart from that, the price of the Syria map is already reduced on steam (nearly the same as in the ED shop - german steam account) and stayed at its current value during the last sales. Think it is still EA. So just buy it and skip the waiting

Okay, i will check it out again later this day and report back. Didn't test it for screenshots but at least I remember that the mask wasn't mirrored anymore. If you compare it to the other pics in the linked thread his cloud LOD seems to be also just in the default setting. However, might be the case that you are experiencing an additional problem with the clouds. Maybe you can post a screenshot (or send me one to avoid derailing the thread) so we know what exactly you are talking about.

Thanks for this massive upgrade!

I can see how the PD might affect the "blurriness" of the clouds but not how it can impact the LOD. I'll try it out and report back if I know for sure.

Well, I tested it in 2d before VR and the difference is extremely noticeable. When I started it in 2d for the first time I was also not that impressed. But knowing the promo videos I knew there must be some option. After setting it to ultra, I got what I expected. Nice detailed clouds. Can't say the same for VR
