DCS: F-86F Official Interactive Training Missions
Tarres replied to derelor's topic in DCS: F-86F Sabre
Hi Werner. Great as always. Comments: .-Maybe the weapons system selector must be in the "off" position. .-Taxi lights on and retract them when airborne, before the plane reaches the speed limit for the landing/taxi lights system. Thanks! -
The ABRIS is linked with the Datalink system, but not with the navigation system. As Mirmidón says navigation system is linked only to the PVI-800. You can have a 56 WP flightplan in the ABRIS, but only 6 WP in the PVI, that is the nav system linked to the HUD and the instruments.

Quick question. Can the Kneeboard Builder be upgraded to read the new radio presets for the helos (ARK-22&R-828 for the KA-50, UHF for the Huey and R-828&836 for the Hip)?
-
Edit: it seems that the installation copies the files under cockpit/english from the beta... So no oficial english cockpit.

Only ED, BST and Razbam use the "standard files" for navigation in DCSW maps. Other 3rd parties use "custom" navigation systems for now. It could be much better if all of them make use of the "standard files" but it´s a decision of the developers. Regards.

Hi Grunf. I think that it isn't possible to do that. I've tried to do something similar but no joy. Maybe it's one of the reasons for the "99 channels" and "72 channels" of the nav systems. Regards.

F-5E-3 is the F-5E, block 3 of the USAF. It's the "mid-update" of the early 80's, fitted with an RWR, a more advanced radar, -159 like the export variants without the "camera mode for the AGM-65" and improved radio and radio navigation equipment along with other minor things. A simple midlife update for the USAF Aggressor force.

@blkspade. If you can detect a Kh-58 then It's a bug. The RP-22 can't detect a missile with their technology. Too fast and very little CRS to detect it. You can detect for example a Kh-20 that is more or less a MiG-21 in size and weight, but nothing else.
-
If the RP-22 can see a missile (maybe except the gargantuan KH-20 and similars), this is a bug.

Thanks Finger!

The R-55 is the IR variant of the beam rider RS-2U. It was designed by the Zvezda OKB. There isn't a SARH variant of the R-55.

In summary: RS-2U: old beam rider air to air missile developed for the MiG-19PFM and SU-9 interceptors of the PVO. Used in limited quantities in the 21PFM (RP-21M weapon system), incompatible with the RP-22 weapon system of the bis. Added by the developers for gameplay purposes. R-55: RS-2U fitted with the IR seeker of the R-3S. Used for training only. R-3S: direct copy of the AIM-9B. R-13M: New seeker and cooling system, better suited for dogfight. Better range and flight performance, Maybe a Aim-9D, roughly. R-13M1 last improvement of the R-3/R-13 family. New aerodynamics. better flight performance. Roughly a -9G. R-60: dogfight missile. All for the agility. Very short range, small warhead but very improved flight dynamics. R-60M: Improved seeker and warhead. R-3R: SARH missile, not suited for agile targets. Similar to the ill-fated AIM-9C KH-66: A/G beam rider missile. Like the RS-2U, incompatible with the RP-22 Weapon System. Added by the developers for gameplay purposes. S-24 and 24B: frag (A) and concrete piercing (B) warheads. FAB: M54 series: high drag bombs; M62 series: low drag bombs. About thee TU sufix, I´m not sure, maybe "retarded" or some type of detonator. I hope that this will be useful.

Translation problem Arrow. Sorry, you are right.

In this image there are two only two type of weapons: B-8 of the same type and S13 of the same type. If the payload is for example: B8KOM+B8OFP2+S13 (3 types of weapons) the WCS can´t handle with them, even in the SM3 upgrade I think.

DCS: F-86F Official Interactive Training Missions
Tarres replied to derelor's topic in DCS: F-86F Sabre
2 minor upgrades that I think could be good for the missions: .- set Kobuleti ATC frequency in Channel 0 for both missions. .- Use battery on and radio on to talk with the Ground Power Unit on the Start-up mission. Thanks Derelor! -
[MiG-21bis] Updated GSh-23 Cannon Sound
Tarres replied to Quaggles's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
It's the same GSh-23-2. -
The gun safe isn't modeled. In the stick seems that it lacks a shortcut linked to the safe/fire position. These positions seem to be linked to the reload buttons. Maybe can be addressed in the next revision of the controls alongside with other controls.

RSBN channels, is it not possible to have more channels ?
Tarres replied to Skulleader's topic in DCS: L-39 Albatros
Yes, the best solution would be make a "RSBN Station", a "TACAN Station" (that is a mobile system too) and a "PRMG Station" like an objects in the ME with associated frequencies. But you don't need a map full of radio beacons to achieve a satisfactory navigation in an airframe of the 60's and 70's. So in the interim I prefer the solution that we 've got nowadays. Regards. -

Tarres replied to Skulleader's topic in DCS: L-39 Albatros
Well, it´s the reality. Not all airfields have VOR/DME, TACAN and ILS in the west for example. You can use the manual mode of the RSBN. I can fly in the NTTR without RSBN and with only one NDB for example. You only have to study the map and take a few notes regarding Bearing and Distance. -
Thanks Grunf, it´s a great and simple workaround until we´ve got the system fixed.

What are the most realistic modules apart from A10 and KA-50?
Tarres replied to cba's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
@Vincent90. Radar: It seems that the radar that we´ve got is a mix between the old RP-21 (PF/PFM/SM) and the RP-22 to enable the use of the old beam riders RS-2 and KH-66 in the most modern Izd75 aka 21bis. WCS, linked to the radar. Navigation systems: the ED L-39C features a real and functional RSBN (it´s the same model that the 21bis has). The LN RSBN lacks the manual mode (heading and distance) that allows navigation outside a RSBN area. RSBN and PRMG are different systems, like a VOR/DME and an ILS in the western aircrafts. RSBN is for civilian and military and PRMG is only for military. RSBN-4 has a maximum of 40 channels for the RSBN and PRMG, not 99 (this is trivial) The LN approach links the MRP-56 marker beacon system to the RSBN, so if you don´t put a RSBN station in an airfield you don´t have marker signals. It´s like if in western airfields you have to got an ILS and a VOR/DME in every airfield to have a functional markers beacon. The LN RSBN have a range of 200km, IRL RSBN have a range of 400-600km , like the depicted in the L-39C. ARK-10 system: IRL 9 presets and 8 "bands" something like the ARK-5 of the MiG-15. The inner-outer selector is used to select the 9 presets (pushbuttons) and the knob selector for the outer. So maybe 17 stations, not 72 stations. And the ability to setup this frequencies in the ME not in a LUA. The ASP-PFD, well it´s WiP so I´m sure that we will got in the medium term an accurate gunsight. Ground handling, tuned down for easier gameplay. I think that LNS made a great job with the 21bis and maybe the next ones will be better. It will be modules designed and programmed by the team from scratch. Maybe in the medium term, LNS can borrow the RSBN and ARK system from ED and solve I´m sure that they will resolve the problems with the ASP-PFD. I hope that in the long run, this module will be as good as the ED/BST projects. But I think it´s better to know their "deficiencies". Sorry for my English. Tarres replied to cba's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
@mwd2. Unfortunately, all the navigation (RSBN/PRMG system) and radar/gunsight system, alongside with some weapons acting like a 9X or a R-73M instead of a late 60´s missile or have weapons that the WCS can handle. It´s like in the A-10C module you have TACAN and ILS in all the airports of the map for example or have the ability to carry and fire an GBU-15(V) or an AGM-88 HARM or an F-16A with AIM-7. The developers say that these choices are for a better gameplay balance but I would like to have the option to have a functional system like the RSBN of the L-39 and fly the Fishbed with real systems. The best choice in the medium term would be to have these two approximations (real and developer choice) as an option for the customer. Maybe I´m too old. Regards.
