VRP - Not switch from prev wp to RP next to TGT
chaos replied to RagnarBSE's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
You're both correct in that TMS-Up is only with regards to VIP... My bad. I watched your .trk file and, from what I can see, you're doing everything according to the book. Why the STP sequencing doesn't change automatically from STP10 to RP is beyond me. I've tried it on my end and it doesn't switch over automatically either which makes me wonder if this is an actual bug. It does switch over automatically from RP (manually selected) to STP11(TGT) so at least that part is working. I watched Wags' video on YT again and his does switch over automatically between STP, RP and TGT. That video is a little bit dated though and things may have changed in the meantime. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. -
VRP - Not switch from prev wp to RP next to TGT
chaos replied to RagnarBSE's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Did you check Wags’ video on VRP/VIP and follow the instructions to the letter? It should work. Make sure you do the TMS-Up when you’re at the IP. I can’t check your trk file right now but if there’s no definitive answer by friday, I’ll take a look… -
Also, if you like the realistic option.... Tne F-16 can only employ 2 HARMs. You can carry 4 but it'll only fire from station 3 and 7.

Pulling too much AoA during dogfight
chaos replied to VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
See above regarding speed... but also keep an eye on your AOA indexer. A green donut is great... if it turns to a red chevron it is time to start pulling less on the stick. Brief "excursions" are fine but do not prolong pulling stick with a red AOA indexer. -
That’s not the issue and, again, this affects all fixed wing a/c. BTW; aerobraking in the F-16 is not necessary. If the runway is short you’re better off lowering the nose and braking normally. Aerobraking is done to limit wear and tear on the tiny discs.

I’ve tried toe-brakes on my rudder pedals as well as the “W-“ key to exclude any differential braking that may be happening. This has been an on-going issue since day 1. I primarily use the F-16 module but it happens in all fixed wing aircraft. Try landing in 0-wind, on the centerline and press “W”. It’ll slowly start to veer off to one side and you’d have to correct. One can easily overcorrect and start to oscillate with ever increasing deviation. This could be the result of simulation sampling rate but I can’t be sure. Also, I’d like to know how DCS simulates runway friction. I seem to remember that it has different runway states but this was many years ago. It has always bothered me and I am a bit surprised that some of you don’t see this issue…

Just wanted to call attention to the fact that, for all modules, controllability during gound operations is questionable at best. Especially during landing, it is way too hard to stick to the centerline whilst braking. It ‘feels’ like I’m landing on icy runways, even in the scorching heat of Nevada in the middle of summer. I know this has been raised before but nothing has been done about it in all these years. Granted, it only affects a limited portion of the game but it completely breaks the immersion. I would greatly appreciate this problem being fixed.

I’m almost exclusively an F-16 guy with a dash of A-10C (Tank Killer) and a smidgen of F-5. Helos don’t do it for me. Yes, l’ve purchased all of them (apart from Gazelle) but they’re just too slow… Kudos to the ED team for capturing the complexity of the Apache. I’m amazed at the techy side of things but thats where the fascination ends. The Tomcat is beautiful but not very usable (IMO) in single player and I suck at bringing it aboard. I will purchase the F-15E too if it is halfway decent but I expect to get very little use out of it for the same reason (it being a 2 person a/c). F-18C is fun(-ish) but it is not really doing it for me at the moment. I have all the WW2 a/c but almost never fly them. The flight-models are just too twitchy (or I suck at flying)... with the exception of the P-47. Nice module and fantastic cockpit in VR. Anyway, carry on...

There's similar obstacle on approach to RWY21 at Beirut, I believe. If you follow the ILS GP you'd be scraping the roofs of some of the buildings once you're passing through approx. 1000'. 1 Dot low and you're toast... Very annoying...

It is no longer possible to set the temperature below the 20 C (default) setting. This bug only manifests itself in the Syria map as far as I know. Caucasus is not affected.

Setting Temperature below 20 C is no longer possible in the Syria map. In the Caucasus map it works just fine. Haven't tested it with other maps...

When ED can't get id done, the community can.
chaos replied to Im_TheSaint's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I can't get it to work at all. I've followed the instructions on the Github -page to a T. I can select the base to start from but then it refuses to add additional coordinates throwing a message "Invalid coordinate". I'm sure I'm doing something wrong but a help file would be... helpful Looks like a really useful tool though. -
So I’ve watched the Oculus (Meta) event yesterday and was quite disappointed with their latest offering; Quest Pro. Although mainly targeted for enterprise and developers, it offers a glimpse at what the gamers can expect in the not too distant future. I’m willing to part with quite a bit of cash for the right headset but this isn’t going to be “The One”. At €1800 (and $1500 in the States?), this piece of hardware is expensive and offers very little extra compared the previous generation headsets. The resolution is supposedly the same(!!??) as the Quest 2 but, due to different type of lenses, offers better image quality. How much better, I don’t know but it can’t be “Next Gen” better in my estimation… It is wireless which is not that important to me personally as I’m using it at my desk for flight simulation only. I’ve also watched a presentation by John Carmack which was quite interesting. The main “news-bombshell” being that they (META) can’t get foveated rendering done with any meaningful increase in performance. The latency is just too much and they’re going to look at other ways to increase performance across the board. Never mind the fact that very few games, including DCS, allow for foveated rendering at all but that is beside the point. This is not the Magic Bullet we’ve all been wanting or so it seems. How’s Varjo doing? My hopes are with Valve’s next gen (Deckard) but it’s awfully quiet on the western front lately. Any news on when this thing is going to ship?

Which book(s) specifically? Source would be nice to have...

ILS RWY22 is not working at Larnaca airport. Correct frequency (110.30) inserted. Dashed ILS bars on the F-16C HUD and no indication on the HSI.

fixed Is something wrong with ground level fog?
chaos replied to Trubert's topic in Weather System Bugs & Problems
Known issue. The fog-graphics are from waaay back and are due for an overhaul. One of the most anticipated features in my mind but apparently it is not ready yet. -
Although the F-16 is capable of carrying 4 HARMs, only 2 stations (3 and 7) are wired to actually deploy the weapon. If you want to practice SEAD check the unlimited weapons, invulnerable and infinite fuel options in the setup.

no bug Weather improvements status?
chaos replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in Weather System Bugs & Problems
+1 Would like to hear about the status regarding fog and dynamic weather too... -
The detailing of the cockpit is exquisite. Looking forward to clicking that “purchase” button once it goes live. So many aircraft in my hangar, so little time. I wish I was in my 20’s again …

M'am/Sir, The lightbulbs, although quite festive, are a H&S issue (glass shards and exposed electrical wiring) and therefore I see no option but to report it to the appropriate authorities. Please take it down immediately. Thank you, Kind regards, The committee for fun, laughter and general silly-ness.

Bear Meet '98! I used that mug so much... That picture has almost completely faded away. Good times!

Why would you want to carry both the litening-pod ànd the HTS at the same time? These tools are for different mission types…

I haven’t received the newsletter (email) since the beginning of September. I’ve re-registered and clicked on the confirmation-link but to no avail. My profile says I’m registered alright but still don’t get the weekly mail. Can something be done about this? Regards

I'm just wondering what the hold up is at the moment. Against better judgement I'm going to ask anyway... Is it going to be in the "near future" or is it being put on the backburner until other issues are resolved? Clouds were a fantastic and essential addition but until fog is properly implemented, I'm left wanting...

Ignore this its been reported- Syria land deformation pyramid bug
chaos replied to Hotdognz's topic in Bugs and Problems
