Hi all, did this mod stop working on the new versions? I don’t seem to be able to run a mission anymore?

Hi all! I admit I have a sweet spot for the Russian Cold War fighter such as the MiG-23 and MiG-25. Nowadays it seems like Algeria is one of the last real operators of the Foxbat. Maybe someone here knows a little more about these? - Are these PDS Variants? - are they downgraded in any way? If so on what way? - and most importantly: I read that they received further upgrades in the 1990s - presumably by Ukrainian companies. Does anyone know what was done and what changed by these? Thanks all!

Also ich bin eher Neuling aber von den Sachen, die als “geplant” genannt wurden freue ich mich am meisten auf: 1) Razbam’s MiG-23MLA 2) Eurofighter 3) Dynamic Campaign Ich finde, gerade der Campaign wäre ein Fortschritt aus der Sandbox, besonders für non Multiplayer! Mir fehlt häufig die Motivation, die Module auch zu verwenden mit den paar gescripteten Missionen. PLUS: 4) eine technische Optimierung wäre wünschenswert 5) ich würde mich über eine Überarbeitung oder 2. Version von Combined Arms sehr freuen

I found this interesting piece of information on this matter: ”With the MiG-21, two versions of the automatic flight control system were necessary (Lasur and SAU), but just one would fit into the airframe, whereas both were fitted to the ‘23. For the first time, Lasur was connected to the autopilot, which meant the aircraft could actually be flown remotely.”

Same - can’t say I am interested in the F-15 - but I am REALLY looking forward to the MiG-23!!!! Can you share another update on the progress please?

Thanks Mate, yes you are right, the one to the left looks indeed suspiciously like a vanilla MiG-27. I also read about Angola and that these refits — potentially in combination with R-27 BVR missiles but I can find no pictures and almost no information on that. It’s bizarre. Contrary there are plenty of pictures of MiG-21 Bison Upgrades or even 21-93 demonstrator aircraft. Just guessing now — but if the Upgrade for Angola was only the 98-3 upgrade it is entirely possible that the cockpit didn’t even change really. The -3 was just an additional device for the existing Saphir Radar to enable more modern missiles. It isn’t a great option though as it is additional weight and it does neither improve air-to-ground nor radar handling nor detection capabilities and situational awareness. Depending on the source (which are all sketchy to be fair) the „full“ upgrade was only 1 million USD per piece - sounds like a bargain to me

Nice The one to the right looks like the upgraded Indian MiG-27 ? The one to the left looks new to me — do you know what this one is? Is it a 23? And is the display in the top right corner the same one from the old 29 models? Do you have any info which aircraft or from which airforce it is? Cheers and thanks

Well given that the Mig is development since about 5 (?) years... Yes it takes longer if you do it alone and sequentially.

Very Nice videos - although I have to admit they feel like from another era by now. The East German LSK had MFs and MLs. The camo looks pretty good though. Too bad though nobody has seen anything on the -98 upgrade from the cockpit inside. Does anyone know about the status on the rumoured Angolan MiG-23 upgrade (-98-3?) ?

Hey @OverStratos thanks for providing an update and congrats to your kid. This module is easily the one I am looking by far the most forward - DCS lacks critical content and your module would fill a good bit of that. Really hope you can progress with this and that the team supports appropriately. The 23 is really a game changer for me - keep the good work and if you don’t mind - pls drop us a line once in a while on what is going on. We really appreciate it and are very existed on this gorgeous plane!

Good to see you are posting updates on this very anticipated module! Now that you mention internal timelines - can you share a bit more on this? Or on the module in general?

This is an interesting topic. I have CA myself and really tried to like it but it is lacking in some key aspects in my view - hence why I have never played it much. In my opinion there are some elements which should be improved in the module as it is right now: - path finding and AI in general - detection and AI - controls and UI - it feels really clumsy to be honest. At the very least something more along the lines of how Warthunder ground units play could be an approach. Or even something a bit more sophisticated in terms of ground unit control (thinking steel beast) - vehicle-terrain interaction just feels wrong (especially if the terrain isn’t 100% flat, i.e. mountain, humps, etc.) - plus damage models seem extremely basic - plus a wish list point: give orders to AI units while 1st person controlling a ground unit Now with regards to infantry: I am one of those who think that it would work. I would even appreciate it - and would roughly picture it comparable to the old Operation Flashpoint games. However, given how much work needs to be done to fix the more “Core” elements of the game I am a bit undecided if that infantry portion should be the priority.

Isn’t that a bit sad if that is the perception? Are Razbam communicating through the DCS forum? Wouldn’t this be a good way to let us know what they do?

Hi Folks, just came across this excellent looking mod! Questions: does it come with a custom flight model or is it basically a Flaming Cliffs Su-27/33 game stats wise? And does it come With a custom cockpit or does it use the FC Su Cockpit? Thanks in advance and keep up the good work

Hi Cubanace! I did notice that the last communication on this thread is quite old. Regardless - any chance you resume this mod project? The MiG-23-98 was supposed to get two MFDs (same type as the MiG-29SMT) Just imagine: flying a MiG-23 in DCS and be able to Fire R-77s...

Give us the 23!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who cares about all the other stuff they work on. We want a proper MiG-23
