  1. That is not what you suggested in your previous post. Quote: Whether anyone has done it or not is immaterial to the original point. Now regarding the wall hackI mentioned earlier: Here's a video of it from YouTube If THAT can be done in ArmA it proves that thermals ARE indeed possible without needing access to hard-coded elements. As to HOW it's done I have no idea.
  2. All you need for thermal imaging is another set of textures implemented (in exactly the way Steel Beasts ProPE does it). This is perfectly possible in ArmA. In fact there's a group of gamers out there (who are unfortunately dedicated to hacking and generally spoiling everyone elses fun..... Do a websearch for TKC) who produced a "thermal" hack months ago that allows them to see through walls and buildings. That being the case I don't think adding thermals to ArmA would be difficult at all. it would be preventing them from being a "God's view" cheat that's the problem.
  3. I've posted a link to this thread on our forums and asked any of our members available on Saturday to contact you here. I know quite a few of our guys have a fair bit on at the moment but it would be great if we could make it. Unfortunately due to a combination of issues (both PC and otherwise related) I'm not in a position to attend any organised events but am hoping that sometime in the next two to three months I'll be able to do so. In the meantime though, good luck for the flight. I hope it's an enjoyable experience for all and that it's the first of many.
  4. I agree with you, Ed. I hated the helicopters in FS9 and eventually gave up trying to master them completely...... As you say they were just too damned frustrating. Nice to hear they've been tweaked a bit in FSX.
  5. How do the helicopters in FSX compare with those in FS9? I haven't got FSX yet since this rig of mine is fast turning into a wheezing wreck (a bit like it's owner!! ) and is now so limited for HDD space that I don't think I oculd even install it, but I'm hoping to get a new PC sorted within the next couple of months and am planning to make FSX one of my first purchases after getting it.
  6. Fully agree with you. Personally I don't enjoy flying any of the aircraft or helicopters in ArmA..... But I'm glad they're there (although th Su-25 would possibly have been a better choice for the OPFOR inventory). In ArmA I gnerally leave the flying to the AI. If I want to fly something I'll fire up LOMAC, if I want to crawl around in the bushes I fire up ArmA.
  7. From what I understand Black Shark marks the end of the LOMAC engine in it's current form. If I've understood correctly then the answer to your question will most likely be no. Anything after Black Shark is going to be a completely new project.
  8. That's worth rep for pure audacity!!!! :megalol:
  9. Been to English classes he has :smartass: :book: :music_whistling:
  10. So that would be why the box next to your Rep number is black?
  11. Send me rep ten times and I'll tell you what happens!! :music_whistling::smilewink:
  12. WHOIS report for the IP address posted. Scroll down for physical address and contact phone numbers: http://network-tools.com/default.asp?prog=whois&host=74.53.243.34 Edit: Beaten to it...... :book:
  13. Just create one. Look at the options in the pilot log book and you should see an button that says ADD. Once you've created a profile an EDIT option will be available as well. (working from memory here... It's a long time since I set my profiles up) Just make sure you tick the small box beneath your new pilot's details to have it as the default, and that the nationality you select matches the equipment you want to fly and you should be good to go.
  14. Great page mate. Nice clear layout. Slightly miffed the 159th is near the bottom of the page..... But I'll let you off this once!! (j/K) :smilewink:
  15. Oh I dunno the last item on the list has that one covered. Suprised there was no option for "Two weeks, be sure" though......... :sly:
  16. Then maybe you should have made it clear in the post I quoted that that is what you meant. You presented the A-10's performance against the Serbs as proof of it's capabilities (in fact you used that exact phrase). I simply pointed out all it proved was the capabilities the CAS role in general... Not just the A-10.
  17. No, that's just proof of how effective CAS can be when one side has total air superiority. The Allies did the exact same thing to the Wehrmacht in France after the Normandy landings. The A-10 is a superb CAS aircraft. If it wasn't the US govt. wouldn't have extended it's service life. But no matter how good it is, in an environment where the US don't have complete air superiority or large numbers of ground air defence units are still in operation, it's toast. Doesn't matter how good it is, without the right operating environment neither it nor any other low level CAS aircraft will last long enough to do any good.
  18. Ducks are fine.... It's when I see fish swimming past my window I start to worry!! :music_whistling: But you make a very valid point about news reporting nowadays.
  19. You're not allowing your instruments time to settle between turning on the electrics with Shift+L and starting engines. Do as 159th_Viper said and your problems will be gone. It is (as everyone else has said) in the manual. I'd also suggest you download the Su25T familiarisation flight tutorial from Ironhand's site and watch it from start to finish. 45 minutes long but time well spent if you want to master flying the 25T. (Longtime since I watched it so check that the LOMAC version the track file was recorded with still matches the latest one otherwise you may get strange things happening.)
  20. To open up the code in the manner suggested in the OP would eventually destroy the community. Online flying would polarise and eventually dwindle to nothing. While workable in a non-combat sim such as MSFS since the competative edge (ie: combat) is missing. If flight models aren't considered right by all the community those that consider a certain aircraft to be wrong can simply not fly it and have little or no impact on their experience. On the other hand imagine this forum if MiG-29A's or F-15's suddenly ended up acting like X-Wing Fighters online? And as much as it would be nice if they would, setting "rules" wouldn't work for long. Human nature won't allow it where there is no enforcable punishment for breaking them.
  21. I better go dig my old riot gear out then........:robot:
  22. Well judging from the pictures above she can walk on my wing any time she likes........ :D
  23. Glad to help. I'm glad I moved back to the UK in 2000, but I have to say in all honesty (especially with the monetary exchange rate of around 14 Rand to £1), if you want a holiday of lifetime, then seriously consider a long break in Cape Town. It's a fantastic place and the surrounding regions are so varied that there is masses to do (even if you can't afford to go for a flight in one of Thunder city's jets).
  24. If you're in the UK get yourself over to the Telegraph or History Channel websites. They're running a rather tasty competition regarding the Vulcan.
