It's a problem going back to the code from the old LOMAC engine. As I understand it from what I've read on these forums, it won't be possible to fix in the existing engine. When the new graphic engine comes along the white line will be gone, but until then there's nothing can be done about it.

:joystick: Words fail me........... :shocking: (I might have to try that myself..... At least that way I may live for longer than 30 seconds after taking off!!!!!!!!)

 Good news!!!!! (...... No pressure of course..... :smilewink: )

Your work in SB ProPE was brilliant mate........ I haven't run it in a while though. This PC of mine is very much on it's last legs and just can't cope with anything graphically challenging anymore..... And falls over immediately I even think about running any online games. Fortunately I've got a new(ish) one arriving tomorrow or Friday and time permitting in between learning to fly the Ka-50 I'm hoping to get back into SB as well. So are we going to see you give the Ka-50 some of your special treatment at some stage?

Congo? Would you be the same Congo from the Steel Beasts forums?

It doesn't mean the file is corrupted on the server.... It means it's getting corrupted during the download process. This is something outside ED's influence. The problem lies either with your ISP, or your PC's connection/ configuration..... If the file on the server was corrupted, then it would effect everyone, not just a few (and this is very obviously not the case). Like Groove said, make sure you're not using a download manager or accelerator. If you're using Firefox, try using Internet Explorer instead (or vice versa). -
Completely irrelevent. As I pointed out in my previous post in this thread, ED can't sell the English version below the local region's RRP and still expect to get a distributor to market the sim at what would in all possibility result in a loss to the distributor. ED have to go with the RRP.... it's down to the local retailers (who are supplied by the distributors) to decide if they want to reduce their profit margins by selling at a lower price. Football Manager 2009 was sold both in store and via Steam.... And for the same reason, the Steam version was nearly £10 MORE expensive on release day and via pre order.

Fair enough mate. Only 4 posts to go...... You're nearly there!! :D

You might want to re-read this thread, Peyoteros...... There's an awful lot of people in here who do understand and are happy with the pricing of the English version. Telling folks to "pay up or go play FSX" is hardly going to help anything is it?
-
Yes it is unless ED want to cut their own throats as far as distribution options for the DVD version in the west are concerned. The Recommended Retail Price (RRP) is not set by ED.... It's set by the distributors in their country or region. Approx £34.00 is the RRP for PC titles in the UK, and AFAIK approx $50.00 is the RRP in the US (current exchange rate means that it actually works aout about £35.70 in the UK). If ED sell the download version far cheaper than the local RRP then where is the distributor's motivation to market a product that they'll have to make a loss on to sell? Sure we may see it cheaper at some stage.... But that is a case of a retailer trying to make themselves more competetive by reducing the profit margin they make when compared to that built into the RRP. Remember that the Russian version was never supposed to be available to the west. The only reason ED made the Russian download available was because they saw that many western users were using their intiative to find ways to get the Russian version.... Not to save money, but to get a copy of the title quicker. It doesn't matter what ED's motivation for doing so, but they made the Russian version available and in doing so saved a lot of western users from jumping through all the hoops they were having to to get hold of a copy. It may have been simply a quick money spinner in the short term, but the end result was a service to the community they had no obligation to supply. Also bear in mind that if the Russian version had not been made available to the west, everyone who is currently complaining about the price of the English download version would have happily paid out their $50 and thanked ED profusely for the privilige. Welcome to capitalism. :smilewink:

As I understand it, each of those items has a points value. If you change enough to go over the 12 point threshold Black Shark's CP will kick in and ask you to activate it.

Looks like it ploughed a nice neat trench!! :smilewink: Glad to hear no-one was hurt.

Viper's guessing...... I am reliably informed he has a crystal ball and rubs it frequently :suspect:..... His wife's not happy about it at all!!! Seriously, once ED can give us some definite information, they will do. There's a few things such as the age certification that's beyond their control so at the moment I'd assume that an announcement of a set date isn't possible without the risk of having to subsequently issue a revised date...... And since this has happened to ED in the past I would imagine it's something they'd not want to repeat.

Awww..... Do I have to?? :music_whistling:

I asked a similar question a little while ago (can't find the thread now) and from what I was told by either JimMack or GG, that's pretty much the plan at the moment as I understand it. Maverick's spot on. I guess it may be better to see what happens closer to the next module release though..... I'm sure ED will be able to give us more definite info when the time is right.

Let me say before I start I'm no expert and am quite happy for someone to correct me on this...... But wouldnn't what you're saying would only be definitely true if the Sun were directly illuminating the side of the Moon visible from Earth?..... And since the Moon is (obviously) much closer than the Sun this can't be the case during daylight since for this to happen the Moon and Sun would need to be on opposite sides in relation to earth. Wouldn't the Moon be being illuminated by light reflected from the Earth? And if so wouldn't the side of the moon in shadow be dependant on it's angle from the Earth? Or am I just talking rubbish and managed nothing more than to confuse everyone even further?

It's going to be a long.... long...... LONG time before you have any chance of seeing an F-22, F-35, Typhoon or any of the newer generation of fighters modelled anywhere near accurately. :tomato:

That's why God invented sick notes.........!!!!!! :music_whistling:

(*Pease bear in mind I'm talking from the position of someone who has yet to have chance to play around with Black Shark*) Surely if the ME now contains trigger logic it should be possible (maybe not in Black Shark, but not far into the future) to set up the AI along the lines that if an object such as a bridge is destroyed then the mission builder can add an alternative route that the AI will then follow? A good example of how powerful a trigger driven AI logic can be, take a look at Steel Beasts ProPE if you get a chance. In that sim with careful use of waypoints, action zones and triggers it's possible to create some very realistic AI ground unit movement (including mobile reserves moving up to support a threatened sector or an offensive advance changing it's route to avoid an unexpected obsticle) with only minimal impact on processing useage.

Pah.... Jack Bauer...... ..... Now Chuck Norris on the otherhand.... HE could still fly it!! :music_whistling:

Sounds great Acedy. So we're looking at a very flexible product in the long term here. Great news!!
