  1. Differences in the civil air regulations I guess. It's a private enterprise, although I dunno off hand where he actually bought the three aircraft he's got (or where he got export licences from). I do know he uses the Hawker Hunter as his private transport when travelling around South Africa. I lived near Cape Town for a long number of years and saw that black Hunter of his zipping around fairly frequently. Never personally saw the Buccaneer or Lightning in flight though.
  2. Or save your pennies, go for a holiday in South Africa and you can actually FLY in a Buccaneer or Lightning (or Hawker Hunter). http://www.thundercity.co.za/ :pilotfly:
  3. I've heard the same thing. So I was suprised when I watched a video posted on these forums a few days back about ejections. In it an RAF wing commander talks about being ejected through the canopy of his Harrier after the det cord failed and the canopy didn't disintigrate. He made a comment about the experience (after corrective surgery) leaving him with one vertebra less than everyone else, but he was flying again after about 18 months. Now I only watched the video through once and I'm not sure if I misheard or misunderstood what he said, but I would have thought an injury like that would have immediately had him flying a desk rather than a Harrier.
  4. Go to the "Edit signature" option in the user CP. Right click on the image of your sig and select "properties". Actual filesize (AFAIK after any auto up or down sizing, but I stand to be corrected on that) will be displyed on the popup Windows info panel (in kB IIRC) along with all the other usual file info. Definately works with IE. Not sure about Firefox or any other browser.
  5. So can the Aim-7. Happened to one of our squad members in the first Red Flag flight. I haven't seen it myself but apparantly the Tacview file from that flight shows it perfectly.
  6. I think the same applies to every radical new aircraft design.
  7. Keep your fingers crossed...... But don't hold your breath. This one's been in development for a long long time now, but work is ongoing: http://www.thunder-works.com/index.html
  8. That's fantastic work. Thanks for posting the links.
  9. You may be out of luck. Many years back when I bought the 9800Pro I've got now I had to make sure I had a 450w PSU fitted in my PC for it to run. I'm not aware of any newer cards that will run properly on a 250/300w PSU. I'd suggest you try checking sites like Toms Hardware or the like though to check things out for yourself. Unfortunately I haven't got any links handy.
  10. I'd have to say that even from a purely gaming point of view I agree with IK and GG. You should be getting off the runway to refuel rearm. If you've got three or four players refuelling on the runway all you need is one inexperienced player or one player trying to land a damaged aircraft to spoil your whole evening (especially in something like Red Flag where there's no respawn). And most importantly, LOMAC is supposed to be a simulator. And if you're wanting to simulate something you should be sticking as close as possible to real world procedures. Refuelling/rearming on an active runway is not a real world procedure.
  11. I'm waiting eagerly for this as well. Also for the Gennadich WW1 sim Knights of the Sky. That looks like it could also be very tasty. http://www.gennadich.com/id/69/
  12. More importantly: No high-heel wearing babes? :badmood:
  13. Damn it man get your priorities right!!!!!!!! :chair: ........ Seriously good video though. Black Shark is looking great.
  14. I see what you mean. Just tried that in the quick start mission and it's worked fine. So your comments about terrain mesh in your reply to Weta makes a lot of sense. This being the case, would it be worthwhile reporting it when it's found a specific bridge has this problem, or being a none universal problem is it the type of thing that would take longer for the devs to track down than would be economic for them to fix? (Sorry if it's a daft question, as I said in my previous post, I'm not a programmer).
  15. Announcement is due sometime in July last I heard. I also heard not to expect a release date.
  16. You've got a point Alpha, at least for some of the vehicles, but I've seen that too. And it's not just amphibious vehicles that do it, they all do. What's actually happening there is the convoy is routed along the road, but the sim has mispositioned the route by a few meters (and in the instances I've seen it it's ALWAYS to the right of the road as in the screenshot). This results in the effect seen in the screenshot when the convoy reaches a bridge..... but even then taking out the bridge won't stop the convoy. It's seems to me that there's a mismatch in the game engine between where the sim engine *thinks* the vehicles should be and where the graphics engine actually draws them. Excuse the layman's terms here. But as it is this phenominon is easy to reproduce. Just set up a convoy of vehicles along a road that crosses a bridge. Run the mission a few times and you should see this happen. Now taking out a bridge has always been a valid tactic to disrupt an enemy's supply or slow its advance. With this (somewhat minor at present) bug, any opportunity to employ those tactics are gone. Destroying the bridge in the graphics engines doesn't seem to register that the route is now effectively blocked (even though the bridge may be shown in the mission debrief as being destroyed). And with Black Shark firmly shifting the focus from pure A-2-A combat to ground attack and combined arms ops, the bug is going to become more noticable and eventually irritating, even though it's not a showstopper in any way shape or form. Unfortunately where you're talking about a route mismatch of a couple of meters in a map the size of LOMAC's I can imagine it could be a nasty one to try and fix (but then again I'm not a programmer, but I am a habitual pessimist!!)
  17. If it won't start at all IK, I dunno if new drivers will help you. The handle leak issue effects in game performance but (AFAIK) it doesn't stop the game actually starting. Try starting ArmA in windowed mode (I think you need to add "-windowed" (without the inverted commas) to the end of your shortcut target line in the same manner you tried the "nosplash" option. Have task manager running at the same time and see if there's anything showing up as being wrong. Also note the time and check your Event Viewer logs for any errors occurring at that time. EDIT: Also have you tried adding "-maxmem=512" to the end of the shortcut target line? This limits the ammount of RAM ArmA tries to use and quite a few people have had success getting around various problems by using it.
  18. ...... Or being that this flight was squads working together (and a couple of free agents who were actually checked out as to their skill levels prior to the flight) that the opposition in RF2 were operating better than the singleton pilots you were most likely taking on in HyperLobby and as such better at missile evasion and benefiting from better SA due to competant and effective comms usage?
  19. Check Guard's and Yoda's posts in the following thread: http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=23851
  20. Kh-41? If so it's not a bug as such. The target ship has to be designated as a target in the mission editor. If you do that you should be able to lock onto the target and launch. Can't help you with the other questions regarding the Su-30 I'm afraid.
  21. Sorry mate: I'm half asleep at the moment, I didn't read Maciver's post properly. The folder in apps data folder AFAIK is soley a cache for MP missions (AFAIK those that are downloaded from a server), I doubt that will prevent the game actually starting since obviously if you haven't actually started the game you won't have been online. Hope I didn't confuse things for you. I promise to get a pair of glasses soon!! As far as the location of you My Documents folder, I have no idea if that could cause an issue, I would imagine it's possible. Might be worth asking about that on their forums and see what the response is.
  22. If there's not an ArmA folder in your My Documents folder IK, then you'll definately have a problem. That's where the default player config file is held. Now I can't say for certain that that is your problem or merely a symptom of your problem, and I'm sure you've tried this already but try reinstalling the game. Alternatively the best idea I can suggest is to go trawl the troubleshooting section on the BIS forums. In amongst the unusually high level of bitching and moaning you see over there, you will actually occasionally find some useful info!! Here's a link for you if you've not been there before: http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard311/ikonboard.cgi Hope you get it sorted.
  23. All sorted. You should be able to access the Red Flag area now Wolfie. PM me on the 159th forums if you have any trouble. With tomorrow's flight fast approaching I've been checking our forums more often than normal to try and get access issues (or at least any that may remain) sorted out ASAP. So contacting me there will be the fastest way to get any problems resolved.
