  1. Absolutely, and you bet every single person on board would do that IRL
  2. In addition to the above, say, the Viggen can take only one type of munition at a time other than Sidewinders and the gun pod, and the Mirage can only carry symmetrical A-G loadouts without the 530's. It's pretty common for the time actually. When in doubt use default preset loadouts, they are guaranteed to work.
  3. And then there's R-27P for jamming targets and a prototype R-27AE Fox 3 with active radar guidance, so that would be a big ol' can of worms to open seeing how technically it should be possible to use them (which is, like, the whole point of said missiles). A bigger concern for me is if it will be able to use the video screen as a TID like it's done in Su-27 that we have now. I don't know whether that's the case IRL, but visually the screens are identical in both planes. Our current FC3 model uses it only as a HUD repeater, and it's the single biggest turn-off of the plane for me.
  4. It gets better, the PVO MiGs had the Lazur ground control system that functioned somewhat similar to the TAF system on our Mirage. Not sure how that would work though, but most likely it would require a GCI AI that actually understands what's going on. That in turn might have something to do with the dynamic campaign AI that's hopefully in the works at ED, and having enjoyed the other F-16 sim, I have my expectations
  5. You can always use the Apache with a corresponding livery to pretend it's a modern version of Mi-28, and I don't think that would be too far from the truth. Speaking of the Apache, if there will be an option to ban its radar on the server it may end up pretty balanced since most multiplayer servers run at daytime with pretty fair weather.
  6. That impression is correct with the exception that after maxing the throttle on startup you do NOT manipulate it until you throttle down on shutdown. The engine RPM when maxed is controlled by automatic governors. Just manipulate the collective as you need and let the governors deal with engines.
  7. Yeah, I guess I might just do that because full-fid C is not coming anyway. Oh well...
  8. Oh, the visceral fun of holding the W key literally for several minutes because there's no time compression in multiplayer...
  9. I guess you've seen it coming a country mile away, and chances are someone has already asked, but could you make a version of this campaign for the (someday) coming F-15E? I know it's not an ED module, but it would be great to try this campaign with a full-fidelity module. Disclaimer: I do not own this campaign but I do own Red Flag campaigns for full-fid modules.
  11. Just did the Persian Gulf Alert 5 quick mission, like, five times. I'm at angels 28, give or take, TWS-auto, launch and the Phoenix lofts to infinity and beyond. Distance to target doesn't matter, 30 or 15 miles, it's all the same. The only way the Phoenix hits for me is in STT.
  12. Вот будет хохма, если у Апача Джордж сразу будет говорящим, тогда как Петрович молчит уже скоро год как.
  13. Don't know if they actually rotate, but the round housing hints that they do. Would be happy to find out though.
  14. That's a negative. The Arbalet is indeed the nose-mounted radar on Ka-52 while Ka-50Sh had the radar over the rotor shaft hub just like the Apache.
  15. That would be Ka-50N (with FLIR) and Ka-50Sh (with FLIR and mast radar, the latter was dismantled later). That's not what we're getting, see my post above. That's pretty sad of course, but if there is an option to ban the radar on the Apache on the server it might end up somewhat balanced seeing how most servers are operating with perfect weather anyway.
  16. MiG-17 is in the works too, not much news about it though.
  17. Canopy fogging is present in JF-17, along with the transonic cone, so definitely doable. That being said, it's something that should be implemented by ED centrally all across the board, so you'd better bring that up in ED general sections.
  18. Хотет Ан-2 и Ка-26.
  19. Another thing about the FC3 bundle (since buying separate FC3 aircraft is a massive waste) is that many of them are used by community mods. And you will be getting into those as you wait for the next module to arrive. Mi-8 is a great choice for learning from scratch since it seems to be the most user-friendly chopper (Mi-24 can be unpredictable on hover, Huey is also fine but seems more twitchy, Ka-50 is easy once you learn how the systems work but too unique for acquired skills to carry over to anything). As for the planes... Tomcat. It's hard, it's fast, it's competitive even against planes two decades younger, it has a helpful crew AI that takes over some boring duties, and most importantly, it will help you develop The Right Stuff© which you will appreciate once the whole JSOW programming process in more modern modules becomes somewhat stale...
  20. That and 15 years of absolute Warhammer compared to which Afghanistan was a nursery school by the admission of veterans who served in both conflicts. Although from that point of view the map could really use some expansion east to Caspian sea to include Dagestan.
  21. Well, more localisation never hurts and there are Russian-voiced tutorials already, even for non-Russian aircraft, so this really should be a thing.
  22. Присоединяюсь, та же проблема.
  23. I'm using the keyboard and buttons on the joystick. Speaking of buttons, do I have to bind left and right brake buttons? I'm used to differential braking but I don't know whether 4th gen Russian fighters have nose-wheel steering.
  24. I support that, and while I'm at it I'd like him to report anything at all because he still has no voice-over.
  25. Seems good so far, but almost no yaw control. The pedals don't move visibly and the aircraft has a big turn radius on the ground, not unlike MiG-21 when you steer it with rudder alone without differential braking (so maybe I missed a keybind somewhere). Other than that a great and DESPERATELY needed mod that DESPERATELY needs access to the SDK! Keep it up, comrades!
