Will the JF-17 leave EA in the next OB update?
Napillo replied to J20Stronk's topic in JF-17 Thunder
The HMD was being built and tested when FC-1 was being developed (before even Block 1) so no, not wrong block. -
mode 1 only jams when you are STT locked, or a missile is detected. mode 2 is constant jamming. which mode were you in?
-
somewhat, depends on the speeds you fly them - if you can fly it right, you can get great fuel economy out of it, much more than the F-16.
-
I did that, and I'm sure the planes now can do as OP suggest, more or less - it appears it's just a software thing. I think the issue is you'd need to store the sensors readings over a range, and have sensitive enough readings to place the radar within x ft radius or so... then set gps coordinates as a markpoint, making that SOI.
-
I'll say also that on a lot of servers, they won't have it available, or if they do it's severely crippled by the lack of a Fox-1 or not allowing you to take LD-10. The gun for 'air to ground' is puny 23mm and only has 180 bullets anyway, so on those servers, you don't have a lot of options to have a good experience.

anti-collision light 'code' setting not accessible
Napillo replied to Napillo's topic in Bugs and Problems
That's true, and from what I've seen, a dot should signify a stop of the dial, so if there's a dot by BRT, that should be a setting. -
Lua is garbage collected, if you're referencing all the variables at least once every 5 seconds, then you would be creating a memory leak. A better way to test would be to call collectgarbage("count") which only gives you the statistics for memory used. Local variables cannot be garbage collected until they fall out of scope. Generally, you want local variables in a function, global variables elsewhere, that way when the function ends, you de-reference and mark for garbage collection the local variables.

You do know that Chuck's guide is not official, right? That it's just from looking at DCS and youtube videos and stuff? -

I disagree, it has a dot like the others. I think we need SME input on that. -
anti-collision light 'code' setting not accessible

just try to turn it past 4, it doesn't go. -
public info states that the limit of 30 is proper for an AIM-120. I've heard if you want to hit a 9g target, you need to be able to pull 5x the forces of the jet, which would be 45g not 38, but sources say it's 38g limit.
-
energy don't matter if you can't track the target, or intercept it simply because the target is pulling 9g.
-
Maybe NVG doesn't stand for 'night vision goggles' but 'navigation' ?
-
According to the lua, the gload_limit is 30g, but according to sources on the internet (various), the maximum gload_limit should be 38g, in order to track and intercept targets pulling 9g.

the 'code' setting on the anti-collision light is not accessible. I should be able to turn it to that to flash the light once, so I could potentially do morse code or something, but the plane refuses to allow me to switch to that.

I always play with random failures turned on, it keeps me on my toes, and the way the random failures work in the JF-17, the probability is based on the MTBF of the part. I've had my hydraulics go out once, engine died once, two fcs failures, once I'd just taken off, my hydraulics went out, I had to circle around and land again. It's not for everyone, but that's why you can turn it on/off.
-
yea, scrap the PL-5, you can buy the PL-10 in larger batches, meaning cheaper prices per missile, but... maybe PL-5 is on sale?
-
yea, in TV mode there's only about 3 levels to switch between where you can see anything, and 1 is too dark, 2 is normal, 3 is too bright. thats it. there's not a lot of control.
-
I believe it has been stated - if there is any display on the HMD, it's fictional, as there are no screenshots or description of what it would display.
-
They're going to be part of the module, I mean if you're in a dogfight and you get damaged, yet win - you still gotta land. Also, if you think there aren't failures - just look at the news, there was an F-15 that had to make an emergency landing recently due to a fuel leak, true that was an older model, but there's several others that make the news, hydraulics, engines going out, etc - just google "f-15 emergency" and you'll see. It's not uncommon, and pilots need to know how to deal with the problems, whether in non-combat or ferry or combat caused damage.

some servers, you don't see all the enemy ground units, so having someone plan a mission for you, giving you a DTC with the coordinates pre-loaded helps. It can also be used like the viggen where you can pinpoint ground radars by collecting the data from flybys and end up intersecting the lines.
-
If you are using DBS1/DBS2 you get the best resolution when your target is 30 degrees or more off your nose. I've had some really clear images come off, but yea its not intuitive how the radar works, you do have to practice it a lot.
-
no, but you can try RWS or VS mode which might help - if you can't distinguish them on the radar, then your missile probably can't either.
