E.g. AK-47 has distance correction up to 1000m if I remember correctly, however, already at 400m you do not see much. Optics are needed. This is why for longer ranges you need optics. You would see helicopter off course. Example of much more capable rocked launcher than RPG-7 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M79_Osa

RPG-7 at 1000m? Likely it can not even reach it. This weapon is for close distance, expect not more than 400m with best results 150m
-
you are correct, this was the most horrible type I made...

The easiest to hit is a moving still target. The moving target probability declines, but I assume that at 70 km/h it is still doable. For faster not willing to bet on that.
-
Actually, if you recall the events in USA's experience in Somalia, not one but two Black Hawks got downed by RPG-7. These weapons can be reloaded fast, have been made to target tanks and non-moving or slow moving targets should not be an issue for shooter who shoot 3-5 rounds before. Regarding the future of gunships (don't get this wrong, k-52s are doing really great atm): they are singing their swan's song for several reasons: modern battlefield is over-saturated with threats that can take them even on longer distances there are cheaper and more effective alternatives: larger drones able to launch guided missiles drones capable of carrier 1 or more cumulative mines loitering ammunition capable of striking as far as 40-70km away That said the helicopters will remain: to transport and do med missions for cases where opponent is simply too weak for cases where they themselves are equipped with weapons that does not require line-of-sight.

Maybe out of topic, but will do F-15C when I have more time...

DCS crashes when player controlled gazelle gets hit by AMRAAM

fixed Hellfire continues to track its target while no one is lasing anymore
okopanja replied to Mad_Shell's topic in Weapon Bugs
I am pretty sure you mixed up missiles. As for ai ka-50/mi28 this can be easily verified. -
I think more than one issue with same symptoms but more than one cause. 1. If yound find yourself in a beam while other aircraft is locked or even firered upon, if the signal is strong enough and your rwr sensitive enough, you should get an rwr warning 2. There is a known bug where you get RWR/BDA/Team kills belonging to another aircraft. I think the DCS recycles aircraft objects and it can happen that same identificator gets reused. It would be nice if ED can confirm this

Dp you have source with year of introduction? Btw: this one looks like it has a smashed glass...

okopanja replied to Mad_Shell's topic in Weapon Bugs
Kh-29T is using own camera to guide. It simply locked on tank. You should first read about capabilities before making claims. Also vikhr will stop tracking if you get out of laser coverage.(I fly ka50 all this time and I would notice such issue) For ataka/ai expected behavior is to stop tracking, but I do not own the ataka carrier. -
the present server is not multi-threaded. Very likely it will be in future. When this occurs you can expect your server to be able to handle larger and more complex missions.

Tablets did not exist in 1994 either. I think I got my first on 2006 (nokia 770, was often compared to PDAs and acquired later bluetooth GPS module). Although there were dedicated Garmin/TomTom devices. There were phones like motorola 925 which featured GPS and had an APP tp show map tiles. I like it but also think they kind of messed up with this: - wrong year span - tablet should have more features, but they do not plan to extend it yet

Within weapons training, the gazelle will start with no weapons. Clearly mission needs update
-
Yes, this is true, it looks much worse than e.g. Apache or Ka-50. Would be nice to have this reworked.

Many good things but PLEASE bring back the autohover
okopanja replied to Ian Boys UK's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
Kind of a workaround (I am learning to fly this damn thing): stabilize manually in hover engage hover (Q) stabilize again hit Escape to get menu (it appears this places helicopter into hover) leave the stick in neutral position return to game (ESC) Voilà: redneck hover. (do not attempt to 'E') -
AI will not fire hot3 missile still after update.
okopanja replied to grim_reaper68's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
Gazelle needs 3 minutes for the Viviane to "warm" up after switching it on (Ass --(90 sec)-> Pilot (ready to move) --(90 sec)-> Ready to shoot. Check if this time has passed for AI. -
Well done!

in f16 just fly at 10 degree until you reach Mach 1.0 then 40-56 degree climb. See the graf link I posted earlier...

Yes, maybe they are right about flight model, but not in the way they believe... Anyway to be honest: this is 1% fuel + unlimited fuel. Need to try it with some realistic load. And also: comparing 80s record holder with 25 years newer jet is not quite fair, plenty of things did occur within 1/4 of century.
