I'm hoping ED do a staged cloud/weather introduction of their new system. For example single player only until it's worked out for multiplayer, activate/deactivate the new system so that the ones that are FPS conscious won't clog up the forums with complaints as it's voluntary. I recall that you could enable the 'EDGE clouds several years ago but they had graphic glitches and so ED disabled them. Mizzy

It's early morning here in the UK and I decided to try out some modules I don't have, I have most of them though. Anyway, I wanted to try a few I have not got like the Mig 19, F16, the Spanish trainer jet thing plus some of the WWII stuff. Personally i was really impressed with the J-17 module from Dekaworks, it has loads of potential for all you fighter jet combat jocks with AA/AG/Anti ship la de dar but I liked it because its go a retro look about it. This airframe looks comfortable in the 1960 era personally speaking. I know some people say the cockpit was a bit naff graphically but they can easily sort that out. Next one was of course the Mig 19 for same reasons, I'm an old skool aircraft lover. I just wondered what other peoples thoughts were about their preference in buying any modules we have had the privilege of trying out for free for a generous length of time ? Personally I am not that interested in the F16 at the present moment. I have F4 BMS for that until the DCS modules matures a bit more. I have also bought (as a gift) the F18 and it's brilliant, so the Supercarrier is a must buy for me now. What's your thoughts on the Free to fly aircraft? Which ones are you going to keep flying after the freebie ends? Mizzy

What are you talking about ?? 2080 ti etc. Your eyes struggle to notice any difference over 60fps. Mizzy

The skins are pretty accurate for the Typhoon. They are rather smooth and not really much character but the screenshots show this accurately. Take a good look at a real Typhoon not a computer sim one, this is a good job well done Mizzy.

The F-5 is one of my very favorite modules, bought it on release but feel as the years roll on, it's just a forgotten by the wayside module and no confirmation if they are to bring it up to spec with other modules. I would gladly pay for it again. Example, no rain droplets (same as L-39 another old module) skins are not up to current spec, cockpit looks really dated, no wing flex, various problems with training missions....etc. Surely if this aircraft was brought up to current levels it would sell as it's an easy aircraft to master. I know that ED work in mysterious way and prone to spring surprises on us so here's hoping :) Mizzy

Yes thanks, I can only guess that it is possibly related to screen resolution which would account for some but not all having this problem. I play in 3840 x 2160 4K, I suspect the full screen option is redundant in high resolution but no evidence. One thing I do know is it's nothing to do with antivirus software :-) Best regards Mizzy

One thing about this so called 'lock down' is a sense of irrelevance when it comes to time !! Anyway, passing the time doing rather nothing, many of us have experienced this hang when loading the game and it doesn't load, it just hangs with the DCS black screen etc, sound familiar ? Well, it is when you tick the box in options 'Full screen' the game won't start. Go into options (located in 'Save games' DCS Open beta\config\options) and scroll down to 'Graphics' where you will see 'Full screen' marked as 'true'. Simply change it to 'false' and it's all fine and dandy, you will be home for tea and cakes and flying your next imaginary Top Gun mission quicker than you can say 'CoronaVirus' !! My support ticket suggested this problem is related to antivirus software and firewall problems, it's not, it appears there is a problem in the options element programme where 'Full screen' option is null and not working. Anyway, I have got back into modding DCS and it's been fun finding the fault. Keep safe and well everyone. Mizzy

I have located the problem and it's in the saved games folder. Not sure which specific folder it is yet. Anyway, make a copy of your DCS Open beta folder or just rename it with '-' or whatever to stop it loading. Start the game and you will have to redo your options and preferences. Then put your config file back from the renamed folder to the newly generated one. Also your missions folder, problem solved. I would like to know why this error occured in the first place so I shall wait until my support ticket has been answered as it needs to be sorted out by ED. Mizzy

Looking at the other persons log file, they are having the same problem as me with the driver error and 'effectviewer' problem thingy :-(

Has someone got a solution to this as I can't get DCS to load and I have tried all the troubleshooting methods. Basically the screen hangs at the load process and will not launch the game. As stated sometimes it worked but has stopped loading completely now. Mizzy

Mirage III, Tornado, F4-M,B,C,D (any F4). The only airplane I would buy pre release..oh or the F105 or F104 Century series. But I hope it's a Russian airplane. Mizzy

Yes it's been in development for some time as we know, plus it will definitely bring in the 'arcade' FPS lot in from Ace Combat 37. However, I would have thought ED may bring in the new weather system (including clouds) in single player mode first as most people play single player. Then after that bring the new feature in for the multiplayer bunch after all the issues are resolved or at least most of them. Mizzy

Nice to see this subject addressed in the newsletter. Knowing ED with limited resources (compared to other games studios) it will be worth waiting for. P.S. This is my 15th year on this forum, where has the time gone !!! Mizzy

I know it wasn't a promise or a commitment for the new WIP clouds but are there any WIP screenshots. This will be the biggest update for me in DCS so sorry I am requesting again. Mizzy

Since the update of the J-17 I cannot start DCS open bete version. All I get is the attached and I have done a clean install. Mizzy
