Fellow pilots, I have permission from ED to sell these via the forum. So.. who wants a pair? What will you get? A pair of slugmice - one for each hand. Ease of use. Just pair them with your PC/laptop via Bluetooth. No calibration is necessary. Battery life lasts for days, not hours. Recharged time of an hour maximum. Just enough time for chow and some beer. Low power mode (hibernation) following 15 minutes of inactivity. Almost instant wakeup when the middle button is pressed. In black ABS. Battery status is displayed in the Bluetooth Connected Devices section of Windows. You won't get: There is no fancy box or bag that adds to the cost. Let's face it: You won't want to put these away in a bag because you fly nearly every chance you can get, right? There is no USB-C charging cable to add to the cost; haven't you got hundreds already? No two-year waiting list! I expect to ship in a week or so (depending on parts availability). Price: 134.99 GBP plus P+P. Paypal goods and services. How to order: Determine the ring size of your left and right index finger. I will make the rings to fit you personally. Send me a private message with your email address and shipping address. I will then send you a PayPal invoice. If you prefer to pay another way, let me know via a private message, and I will try to accommodate. Worldwide shipping although there may be some exceptions. If your headset already supports hand-tracking and can be used to control a mouse pointer, e.g. Oculus Pro and Oculus 3 along with HTCC, then you do not need any additional hardware. If your device does not support hand tracking and can't be used to control the mouse pointer, e.g. HP Reverb G2, you can use a Leap Motion Controller (V1 or V2) from Ultraleap.

Fred recommends to use touchscreen emulation in his wiki for DCS: Here are my HTCC registry settings: htcc.reg

I have made some changes in the registry settings for HTCC to make it more useful in DCS. I reduced the FOV at which the HTCC takes control of the mouse, which makes switching between the hand-tracked mouse emulation and a physical mouse easier. Let me know if you would like to try my registry settings for HTCC.

I use touchscreen mode. You should check to see if you have lost the Bluetooth connection to that device. I think it's operating in a low-power transmission mode, so the range is probably low, especially if you are not using a Bluetooth antenna connected to your PC; this is another reason why I switched to C++, as the libraries provide control over the transmission power level of the device. Do you mean hand tracking or losing button emulation? The headset and the HTCC control hand tracking. It has nothing to do with the ring. Maybe you disabled the hand tracking? You can do this by moving your hand above your head. Typically, you would hear a "beep boop" to indicate that hand tracking is off. You put your hand above your head again to turn it back on. It's best to contact Fred Emmott on his discord server for HTCC support: https://discord.gg/H84YJKVF

The first pair is built—well, almost. I'm still waiting for the crimp pliers and crimps to put a connector on the battery. They'll probably arrive on Monday and then I'll be able to do the final testing.

For complete wireless, you may be able to get a battery pack that mounts on the headset or put it on your belt.
-
Yes, you can do this. It is probably best to use the wall charger that came with the headset, as it will probably deliver much higher power than your PC USB-C can. I bought a second Meta wall charger to keep the headset charged and kept the original to charge the hand controllers. The headset will still discharge, and maybe more so whilst using WiFi for VD.

If you fly single-player, you can set up your machine's Wi-Fi as a hotspot and connect the headset directly to the machine. Wi-Fi6 is necessary to provide enough bandwidth via WiFi to the headset.

I will setup a Facebook page and/or discord server for more information soon.

HTCC will give you control over the mouse cursor. It can also provide mouse clicks via pinch gestures. I can't remember what the DCS hand tracking is like, as I turned it off almost as quickly as I turned it on! Then I switched to HTCC and haven't looked back.

I thought you might like a progress update. The design is complete! I'm just waiting on some JST crimp connectors and a pair of crimp pliers to add a connector to the battery. I'm hoping they will arrive on Friday or Saturday. I will then be able to build the first "SLUGMOUSE." I can't wait, but at the same time, I need a few days' break as I have been burning the candle at both ends to ensure the project is complete this week! Considering I bought my first 3D printer a month ago and had to learn CAD design from scratch, it's been incredibly frustrating and rewarding; quite the rollercoaster!

I can't say I have noticed that. Are you using HTCC for Oculus to DCS hand tracking?

That's something we agree on.

As with most things in life, there is rarely a solution that suits everyone. I have seen one guy put a wooden board up as a panel that he could touch while using pointctrl to steady his hand. As for a scroll wheel, again, it's a trade-off of form and functionality. I have added a faster button press repeat if the up or down button is held down. Users can also hold down a button and move their hand up or down to scroll quicker, like a normal mouse.

Ok. There are two power hogs. Leds and bluetooth transmission. You could turn off the leds once connected. And also, I found the voltage monitor didn’t work so you could disable that too as I think it is reading the voltage (but that doesn’t work in Seed’s circuit python board library) and transmitting it on every go around the loop. Those two should massively increase battery lifetime. One of the reasons I switched to C++ was to get the battery voltage monitor working.

I'm sorry, I do not intend to at this time. I have had to rewrite the code in C++ from the ground up to achieve my goals. Thus, it isn't the same language as used in the original design, so the deployment method is also different. Is there anything about the original code that doesn't meet your needs?

Maybe a good idea for the OP to update his post with links to the solutions etc. That's if he wants to be helpful. Alternatively... hold on until the 4th when ED expect to release the patch. In the meantime, to run in pancake mode, ensure you don't have any command line options in your shortcut to DCS and check your options.lua file in your "saved games\dcs\config" folder and set VR > enable to false.

It's as though they've nothing else in life to do. Nonetheless, it's good for ED to know that the addiction is strong.

How am I being rude? I've not called names. I've been nothing but polite about this matter. It's a civil discussion as far as I can see.

Blah blah blah blah. TL;DR

I'm not far off finishing this pointctrl alternative. It's been fully redesigned from the ground up. The software is done. The battery will last days without needing a recharge, which should take about an hour. It will now hibernate when not used for a while, say 15 minutes, and can be woken by pressing the middle button. Battery status is available via the Bluetooth devices in Windows. Perhaps another week to finish. I think I will christen it the "Slugmouse".

Lol. If you care to check, I raised this issue more than a month before you did. Take a look at the 7th post in this thread and check the date. So you can probably guess that I have been following this with utmost interest and know of all the workarounds, three of which I provided. My point is that there is no need to keep searching for solutions, posting misinformation etc etc. It's not helping people who come here for help to wade through all the quagmire of bluff and bluster. Plenty of workarounds exist already. ED have fixed it, it's now just a matter of waiting for the testing of the full release to be completed before it's issued to all of us - which I expect will be days not weeks away.
