I wonder it this means that the profile won't enable for the game then or not.. I'm not exactly sure, there isn't any documentation on many of the stereoscopic settings.
-
That is so odd I've went through the entire stereo section.. It's not there. Just StereoHiddenProfile There is also Stereo-Enable that is set to off
-
Is StereoProfile gone? I only have StereoHiddenProfile and it's not an on or off option. It's the only one I can't find. I had found it previously somehow.

I play in these servers a lot. They are fantastic. One thing I would add to stream line missions is under lattice to have a "Task Mission" for each role like SEAD, CAP, STRIKE, etc. It will give you specific targets or location instead of a list of objectives. This way we can see the overall objective movements on the F10 map, see what is being requested as missions, and plan accordingly. Also, please add the photos in the original post and any others to the kneeboard that would correspond to the mission (if possible when you spawn each time or rearm) for the current available objectives. As the F-10 map can get hectic, laggy, and as DCS goes a bit of nascence because it's full screen. So photo intel would be really nice to see what to look for at each objective. Once the front lines move, the kneeboard information will be updated to the aircraft upon rearm or respawn. Lastly, if missions objectives could be colored in order of importance 1:Red 2:Yellow 3:Green (IE: Sam sites on hills and air defenses would be red, while fuel depots and ammo depots yellow, certain factories, infantry, vehicles, etc green) This way when looking at the current objective, players will know what tasks need to be completed in order first. Something that would be done in any briefing pre op. Thanks for the fantastic work!

Well I didn't get even close to getting rid of the shimmering after all lol.. that is a separate issue anyways. I really wish they would add this though, It would be so nice to have in MP and even high end users will benefit greatly from it.

Since I've used Keygens .lua I've been able to run cockpit shadows on with high quality, flat shadows for terrain. High clouds, PD 1.3 (I did drop the resolution down two notches on the headset because it runs better for some reason that way likely because of the SS multiplier) with 2x SAA on a RTX2060... WITH rain and at night. It's crazy how much simple things make a difference... I'm obviously still bound by hardware performance but I'm not trying to max out settings just get some clarity. I've for the most part been able to clear up the ground, and get rid of most shimmering in the clouds. No easy feat... lol
-
Even when I upgrade to a 4090 I'd still want it for others who can't afford the upgrade or if I want to have higher quality textures inside vs outside the cockpit.. Having to give up some supersampling for shadows even with a 4090 is still a balancing act! lol.
-
Thanks for doing this! As I said in the OP I've seen the request many times but I couldn't find an actual official request and made sure I searched prior to posting. I'll definetly be doing the .lua change (save as an alternate for SP and replace with original for MP) I would hope that ED offers this solution in the near future, as you stated, it's an easy fix to a lot of performance problems when it comes to shadows.. More so in VR. I'm hoping a lot of this is solved when Vulkan and MT is released and the impact isn't nearly as bad as it is currently. However, even then, having that option is necessity in my eyes. If there were only 2 things I could request that would be fixed, in theory the genie in a bottle senario.. It would be seperate cockpit options (shadows, textures, and anti aliasing methods) and the cloud/terrain clarity fixed without massive supersampling and SSAA (this one is huge but something for another topic).
-
I've tried searching for a previous thread but found none which is odd because I've heard a lot of people bring this up shadow threads. Can we please get an independent cockpit shadows option. The lower and mid end systems especially in VR could greatly benefit from this. This is an immersion breaker and it takes a lot of performance to run shadows in general so a lot of people have to run with them off. With just being able to run cockpit shadows, it wouldn't nearly be the performance cost and we can still the visual effects. Cockpit Shadows and Cockpit Textures would be really nice to have completely separate.

You could use March Air Base as an airforce base. It's technically a reserve base I believe, but it would fit without having to push that far north into Edwards. However, It would be nice to see everything highlighted. I'm guessing now that they have scanning technology for maps and google earth it wouldn't be terribly hard but I have no idea how any of that works lol.

Being a San Diegan.. I fully agree with this Don't forget to add wild brush fires (great balls of fire!) haha jk. but it would be cool haha. They still have RND and aerospace facilities. I've helped build a few of them.

The new pilot body (which looks fantastic btw) is slightly to tall. Trying to set the snapview properly results in either looking directly at the top mirror and to high in the hud and cockpit. If you go off the cockpit and hud then when turn your head your shoulder strap is blocking your view. It just needs to be slightly lower so your head can be positioned properly. Lower being key because you can't tell the difference when you're higher and looking down or to the side but you can definitely tell when you're lower and the body is in the way.... Should be a pretty easy fix! Great job on the models though guys!
-
This has been ongoing, so not exclusive to 2.8 but mirrors don't reflect canopy shadows, reflections, and especially raindrops. It does reflect sunlight and vapors. This is in VR.. Not sure about 2D.

I thought I was crazy. I left a server 3 times to double check my settings. Asked if it was forced on by the server but no one knew. Good call!
-
I stated that in the post... I'm not sure if you realize this but the most constantly filled server in DCS in the west is Growling Sidewinders PVP server.. It's full all day and 1/2-3/4 at night. I'm not sure what being a sim has to do with league play. The mission would all be as simulated as any other PVE/PVP server.. and actually MORE simulated because you are forced to work together..
-
I made a new thread actually for a proposed league. Credit, really goes to you for the indirect, direction. Cheers! lol

If we could have an official weekly league (3 months on 1 off for season, one match per week). With Pro, Am, Beginner,Heli only, and Individuals (1v1) levels and a Modern/WW2/ division that would be fantastic. Once the framework is set, it doesn't need to be managed by individuals, it's all website based data input. Forum can have weekly updated standings, stats both team and Individual; Individual stats are accumulated in all divisions and levels. Teams and or individuals must report by the end of the week cycle for the game to count and be recorded. Forfeits are counted as loses. Pick up matches allowed for teams who can either take the automatic win, or play against another team that had a forfeits... winner takes both wins. (Original two teams that foregited still get the losses) Bottom team gets relegated, top team promoted at the end of season. Can have top teams qualify for bigger Pro tournaments... including charity events. We would just need the framework on the DCS World Page and Forums, the ability to enter the information in automatically without anyone running it. (with 1 or 2 devs or league volunteers for any league disputes) One official game mode that is objective based... IE: 5v5 or 10v10- Destroying 2 highly defended airbases and their factories/fuel tanks/bombers/depot with a 3rd more middle ground FOB that isn't as heavily defended with only short range SAM's or AAA. Targets, mobilized infantry and ground vehicles... First one to destroy all assets wins the round. All stats count for individual score. So team and individual performance matter. This should work for All levels, and Divisions. Any input is welcome. I know we have tournaments. They are fantastic. However a main, constant, weekly league is a much welcome parallel..

I made that clear at the bottom of my post that I didn't necessarily agree with the initial compainers response. I agree with what you're saying 100% but I also see what "should be" as a standard business' practice.. as difficult as it may be to maintain. and unbalanced only right wing loadouts and with no tanks.. of course.
-
Wait, forum dogfighting isn't a thing? I like that idea though. We should really have an ED Forum League... Someone would very much be willing to run it.. Could even a couple different options the teams could agree on for a game mode...
-
That's not really the point is it.. Anyone can run a business. Even poorly ran ones survive if they offer something that people want or need.... That doesn't negate ethics.
-
Not to get off topic, but that isn't how business work.. We are customers, not slaves. We don't get told when or what to think. They have every right to choose how they do business' or communicate with their customers but customers have the exact same right but they also hold the chips... aka... money. What's counterproductive is not allocated resources or working OT to get a job done... Man, I wish other careers had this luxury.. I guarantee you, if the community presses them and stops buying more and more content until they start giving us scheduled patches, releases, future content status reports, and the likes that appease the customers.. they will move resources where they are needed to get projects done on time, or at the very least give the community a reason why it's been delayed and when to expect it (given a few days for unforeseen problems of course) Now don't get me wrong, getting mad at the team for mistakes, or unforseen bugs at the last min, or just personal attacks on devs, etc shouldn't be tolerated. I also believe that we should have realistic expectations. They should inform us on a quarterly basis in their newsletters. You don't get to just say "We'll we didn't do our job well, and now you're complaining, so we'll just do it even worse!" If this was all free content, and people weren't spending massive amounts of money on modules, maps, etc.. Then beggars can't be choosers... shut up and get what you get, when you get it. That is not the case.. and regardless of how patient YOU may be, not everyone will share that feeling. It may sound harsh, but this is peoples hard earned money in the long run... even if it might not be a lot for you or me.. it likely isn't for everyone... Edit: Also, note that I'm not upset that I have to wait for this update because of ED's feedback to the community. BIG's been here answering questions for us the entire time.. It's only a few days. My response was just a general response to this type of thought process.
-
Lmao everyone in here having to chime in like they are going to change this guys mind. You're either a needed child or an ass kisser... Apparently you need to pick one. "how can you react like this?" .... I don't know if you have ever heard the term "two weeks" or "in the final phases of testing" before?? I fully understand where he is coming from but I wouldn't have reacted the same way in this particular instance. However, I'd rather them give us a date and not meet it, and push to achieve those dates even if they are late.. than have a never ending timeline of "when we are ready". This shows the community WHAT they are focused on and when they plan on having it out (give or take a few days) -- Not two weeks That being said, I'm looking forward to the update. This particular one, as well as the MC/Vulk update will be the updates the community is waiting for and the most needed. Once these core updates come out, as well as the dynamic campaign ED will receive MUCH less harassment and smaller updates and missed timelines won't be nearly a problem... People are itching for this update because of the VR update which was so needed it isn't even funny...

any news on sim thread multi-threading?
HoBGoBLiNzx3 replied to twistking's topic in DCS Core Wish List
That wasn't my implication. Still even lower spec'd cards can generally get better performance the next year as the chipsets and architecture improve. Plus, I was the one who thought it might actually be featured in the GTX series.... Got on Georgia at War last night and the horizon line where the clouds met the ocean off the supercarrier looked liked a 5 year old with pastels painted it. Had to turn it off. Something really needs to be done with it... but. here we are. -

HoBGoBLiNzx3 replied to twistking's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Fair enough, anything older than a 20 series will be outdated in the gaming world here very soon anyways (I'm on one and have to upgrade too..) but to step away from graphical technology and back to it's core functions, as you said, needs to happen.. I've been playing less and less and it's not something that is because of the work on the actual game play, it's getting it to run properly...
