    COMMS

yes you have to and yes / is only working on ground or with "easy comms" (or "simple comms", you name it) enabled. In every modul you should make sure to use the right comm keybinds as long as you dont use easy comms. as Rudel perfectly stated keybind "RADIO (left)" for radio calls over the chosen radio (vhf, uhf, fm1, fm2 or hf) and the setted freq. Standard DCS key commands can be found in your options menu. Btw it is all in the quick start manual and there are like a zillion threads about this... K
  2. In your DCS options menu (think it is special Tab and then AH64D) you can change the way George takes over controls when switching seats. When i hop to the CPG, George mostly takes my last heading, speed and hight w/o problems. Even when im in a bad hover an George takes over, most times he can stable it to a nice one. Though sometimes we might just crash down... but well its EA so fine so far. And when you take over controls from George you want to use Right CTRL and Enter beforehand to look at Georges current control position and mimic that before taking control. That is the way i currently do hand over/ take over. K
  3. a little late maybe but: You know you can switch the TSD "Map" (what you call F10-MAP map) from Chart (thats what its called in the TSD map type menu) to DIG = Underlays a relief map generated by the digital terrain elevation database (DTED) or even to SAT = Underlays satellite-based imagery (not zoomable atm guess its wip) With DIG you have an awesome (terrain) hight map but you wont see buildings or streets like on the F10 ALT map. But you can also colourize the DIG map through the "Color Bands" option. A/C = Selects how elevation bands are colorized on the map: No coloring is applied. Terrain is shaded based on aircraft altitude. Terrain that rises above the current altitude is shaded red, and terrain within 50 feet of the current altitude is shaded in yellow. ELEV = Terrain is shaded from green to brown based on its MSL elevation. If the MPD is in MONO (monochromatic mode), shading will be from green to black. See pages 134 and up in the DCS Apache Quick Start Manual. Hope it is still a help though late
  4. ok then. cant reproduce without a track file. FLIR is the best way to find targets no matter day/night/weather tbh, especially if you dont really know where to look. Scan in FLIR, see something unusual and switch to TV, zoom - repeat. Did this countless hours in my recon vehicle As for George, he is pretty much WiP. After all we are playing an early access module in a beta version of a game... Since you stated the word "bug" often, i would adwise to put this in the bug report underforum called Bugs&Problems. Please note K
  5. Did you check the "destroyed" vehicle in FLIR and in TV mode? cause there is a bug that shows them dead in one but not in the other. It has been reported a lot already.... Dont know about the labels though.
  6. What keyboard command did you put the SLAVE to? cause my guess is that it really is not a DCS related issue but something externally, like joystick or keyboard giving wrong (double or multi) inputs - maybe cause of a software that is running. Just my guess! hope you can find the issue and resolve
  7. @sirrah Watched your track in slow motion. Just a second before your TADS slews to its fixed position (cause of ACQ FIX) your RHG slave button is beeing depressed !!! So yes, when you SightSelect TADS and press Slave, your TADS will slave to the ACQ, in this case to FIX. IMHO this can only happen when there is some involuntary input on that button or a keystroke. In your case something seems to "activate" JOY_BTN 2. I would guess some external programm or the software of your stick.
  8. can confirm you cant switch George to a weapon that is out of ammo. Im guessing the "I" is shifted cause of the aquisition source from George. Possible solutions: a) use George and rockets in COOP mode. just WAS your rockets and you should see a "COOP" in the Pilot HMD (lower right next to the High Action Display). b) switch to George and de-WAS his rockets, switch back to Pilot and you should have full control over rockets again. K
  9. just tested and found out: ... the controls stay in the last positon of George's controls UNLESS one of your controls is inputting a value (like collective axis or rudder) then it will instantly take over your controls. Just testet with different flight vectors (hover, 40 and 90 knots) (changed in my first post) and also what Baldrick33 says! edit: you can also see George's controls inputs while in the CPG. Right Ctrl and Enter. It will also stay up when switching. So at least you know what inputs to expect and you can kinda mimic the position before taking over. Hope that might help till George trims the Pache
  10. afaik George is not trimming the Apache, so when you switch seats you return every control to 0 or to the current position of your controller, like collective up. ... the controls stay in the last positon of George's controls UNLESS one of your controls is inputting a value (like collective axis or rudder) then it will instantly take over your controls. Just testet with different flight vectors (hover, 40 and 90 knots) you have to apply the correct input for the current vector. e.g. left pedal when in a 0 velocity hover, a little cyclic and check collective. So a lot of guesstimating. Also the Apache needs a lot of input the whole time when flying and especially in a hover. More systems will come during EA, like Altitude Hold and a better SCAS system. Not all wordings might be correct, had to write in a hurry sry. K
  11. works fine for me, SP and MP on both seats. my "workaround" or the way i do it SP: fire up in Pilot seat. APU on, Engines on and powerlever up. Switch on RWLR in ASE>Set. Turn on CMWS, arm CMWS, set audio to CMWS. Turn volume master dial low and up again. turn every volume dial a bit low and up again. reset every squelch. Switch to CPG. Check in George interface if CMWS is still armed. Reset every Squelch. Turn Volumen master dial to 0 and up again. Turn every volume dial a bit down an up again to desired setting. Check ASE page (armed and programm). Set master arm on (after take off). In MP only the part for the seat you are in of course As CPG i get the radar warnings from the ASE e.g. "SA10 tracking" as well as the CMWS warnings e.g. "Missile ...". But i guess it could be a syncro issue in MP. Syncro between seats is still WiP as stated by ED at launch of the modul. Hope this is a possible workaround/solution. K
  12. self quote... Please check that link. Long story short: Just testet in a hot start. AUTO range below 1.428 feet no problem. above it does not work.
  13. no worries and welcome Guess it should go to "Wish List". AFAIK there is no option atm. Even though in the Mission Editor you can choose for player controlled Paches something like "Pilot / CPG / Always Ask / Equally Responsible". Sry cant check it atm to be more precise. It is one of the tabs where you also can alter the weapon loadout and so on. I experimented with "always ask" and "equally..." but felt no difference.
  14. I think the OP does not mean Cold Start the AH64D as CPG, but to "start" the mission (like spawn) directly into the CPG instead of spawning in the Pilot and then switching to CPG. IMHO this should be under feature request. I would like to see it too, cause i like to test stuff in a Hot Start and when hot starting the AH64D with 0 forward speed you have to have your pedals already to the right left or you will go into instant carousel. xD And sometimes i forget to turn up my power lever axis, so i will drop torque instantly when hot start... ^^ Another request is, that beeing able to fly the AH64D as CPG when Pilot has a disconnect. Currently you will automatically be set back to spectator which is a shame in mid mission. Also possible would be that George can take over the Pilot in MP. Well it is EA and WiP
  15. to 1: afaik no, that is the only way to see it in your IHADSS. If you are the Pilot you could have George slave the TADS to that point and see the CPG "cue". to 2: for me most times George does not shoot in LOAL. I have to re-test this though. What i do is that i shoot Hellfires from the Pilot seat. Just do the DIR to the TGT point, be within max range for hellfires, give the JTAC the go to lase and put some "warheads on foreheads" JTAC is even shifting single targets whithin a group when he is ordered (in mission editor) to target a group. Was able to take out 6 artillery vehicles with 6 hellfires in 1 run, with a missile launch every 10sec in LOAL HI. Worked like a charm. see above (to 2). K
  16. Just a short and simple explanation (without ranging and so on) Shoot as Pilot: Arm weapons = A/S Button on the Armament and Video Panel left forward side of cockpit (Manual Page 46) to display "ARM" ....and open the Trigger Guard on cyclic Weapon Action Switch (WAS) on cyclic to WAS intended weapon, e.g. Forward (UP) = G (Gun). Actions/De-actions the area weapon system for employment and slaves the gun to the currently selected sight. Fire with trigger pull (cyclic) second detent. Shoot as CPG with TEDAC handgrips: Arm Weapons if not already done by Pilot. (Master Arm is always same state for both seats) Weapon Action Switch (WAS) on the LEFT TEDAC Hand Grip (LHG). LHG Weapons Trigger second detent. Hope this could help? K
  17. AH64D Quick Start Manual, Page 84 Skid/Slip Indicator (Trim Ball). Indicates the amount of side acceleration and when the aircraft is in coordinated flight (“aerodynamic trim” or “in trim”). Let Casmo explain it for me So align FPV with HeadTracker (think of nose boresight) and you can see you are flying in 'a skid'. Hope it helps!? K

as a further "read": or if you prefer Casmos approach: K
  19. I stand corrected! Forget what i wrote. On to the bug hunt! Thank You for clarification. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Ok another try to bughunt, cause i just launched 16 Hellfires (LOBL, LOAL DIR and LO on JTAC remote laser and own laser) and TOF nearly allways worked. Sometimes a difference of 1 sec from TOF to impact or from Impact to remaining TOF (that was mainly on JTAC remote laser). Can provide Screenshots later. @Caldera some questions on that issue: pic 1) you sure you didnt launch another missile? FC is calculating TOF for every missile shot and shows it in TADS. pic 2) same guess as on pic 1 pic 3) is there another missile in air? dont know what you mean with "High at launch". Hope we can solve it or get rid of it
  20. IMHO yes. Options from my pov: a) ACQ GHS, sight HMD -> looking and finding a target -> sight select TADS, slave TADS to GHS (HMD), point on target an deslave. Sight select HMD and engage if you wanna or stay in TADS but turn off (fold away) IHADSS (i key) and start your slaving if you need to. Lase n blaze. b) slave TADS to GHS but stay in TADS. Turn FLIR GAIN or Level (cant remember atm) down and you can "head track" the TADS on the target while not having the FLIR in your IHADSS but still the symbology. Dont know if this is done IRL... Also check your HAD (high action display) and cuing dots. Its all there imho. K
  21. @Caldera Boresight your IHADSS as a first step i would suggest! Sorry but this is basic. Cant do bughunting if essential things are missing in the process. K
  22. that
  23. Please be aware that you 1) have to set Rad Alt to on ("filled donut") on a cold start. It might take a minute to turn on after pressing the corresponding pushbutton. 2) have to be below 1.428 feet for Radar Altimeter to function atm (dunno why Auto Range cant use Baro, might be a data accuracy related issue) 3) check IHADSS range and NOT the MPD MANRNG range on WPN page. Confirm in IHADSS it says Ax.x for Auto Range. Also note that this topic is asked A LOT. Search function might be of help: K Having the CP/G in TADS aquisition or sight shouldnt be a problem. Might be a bug. Please try to reproduce and post it in the bug forum with an attached track file. thy
