2.8 patch - do LS-6/GB-6 still get shot down by SAMs?
dedlike. replied to Hiten Bongz's topic in JF-17 Thunder
it seems like the 2.8 update moved all glidebombs of the jeff to the Bomb category, meaning they are invisibe for SAM sites now im not sure if i like the change or not , on one hand, it makes them realy usefull on servers like DDCS on the other hand maybe its a bit too powerfull now ? i only tested a LS6-500 vs a TOR, it didnt seem to shoot it. -
yeh, i would love to know how they are, i looked further into it, it realy seems to be built just like the VKB, wich, if not cheaped out on the metal is a simple and sturdy way of doing things the damper also seems realy interrestring, only thing that would worry me about it is warranty in lets say 1-2 years
-
if you want to be on the safe side, get the VKB T-rudders, the flight1 sim rudder seems to be a knockoff from that anyways the dampening however does make it interresting but i wouldnt risk it if you want a painless experience

hope this gets gets some atention again, looking around with the PNVS just feels wrong with the extra "lag" hope some day the pnvs will be as smooth as the tads

w.i.p Flight Model (FM) since [21.09.2022] DCS 2.7.18.30348 Open Beta
dedlike. replied to Dagobert666's topic in DCS: AH-64D
yeh, it must have been the different speeds at wich i was initialy testing, did fly it for 2 hours on a server today, and its indeed not much different, hope we get some changes soon tho! also thanks for clarifying that its not a normal ocurance that the FM changes behind the changelog -
w.i.p Flight Model (FM) since [21.09.2022] DCS 2.7.18.30348 Open Beta
dedlike. replied to Dagobert666's topic in DCS: AH-64D
yeh, i just tested the 64, i feel like they havent tuched the SCAS alot this time but the FM behind it seems to be a lot more refined (holding down the trim button and flying it is far less twitchy now ), i think the improvements are only going to get better from here on, sadly the alt hold is still broken -
interresting to see people defending rockets in dcs, i get it, it can be nice to get kills with them but in terms of effectivenes its like trying to compare a fox1 vs a fox3... The damage model in dcs isnt even close for rockets to be of any use, if they could atleast dissable a vehicle by blowing its tires it would already be a big step forward but the damage state in dcs is Alive/Not Alive, no inbetween ... Its sad to see how DCS handels it, i would love to take the hind out and acualy be.. you know .. effective with rockets !
-
i would almost argue that range is less of a problem than accuracy in the apache since the pylons adjust so that your rockets will reach the target, its just if you shoot too far out, the spread is gonna be realy bad, and in that regard i think the 151s and the 229s are almost the same
-
N-T but tbh, i dont have a problem with the slower speed, its just that im not used to itand well.. it suprises me that the apache is not realy any faster than a Huey basicly
-
well , my numbers were with 2 hellfire launchers, no fcr, no rocketpods, i could understand it with rocket pods tho since they dont exactly scream areodynamics
-
i dont think so, and the funny part is that the IR supressors were only added a few updates after the hind released
-
I havent been flying the apache in quite some time now, but i cant seem to get the apache over 120-130 knots anymore, before this update, if i realy pushed it i could manage to go around 140-145 knots, same conditions ofc

What makes the Apache the most difficult helicopter module to fly?
dedlike. replied to Schmidtfire's topic in DCS: AH-64D
im mostly hoping that all the wobblyness and especaly the stickyness(wich i think intreduces alot of the wobble) gets adressed, while i think this update was a inprovement, its not adressing the wobble that you get at high speed, instead the heli is just slower now, just as fast as a huey now... but that aside what makes the update even less playable that earlyer versions are the sporadic FM/SCAS behaviors that can lead to you hitting the ground quite fast ..... simply sayd, even if the tail VSR happens only every now and then, i dont wanna fly around doing an op involving any major flight time if i just hit the ground since the thing cant hold its ALt on its own or because the Tail decided to not respond anymore when beeing low to the ground... in the end, it comes down to reliability. and the apache atm is for the most part just way harder to predict than any other module atm -
Now, i know that asking the theam here for predictions on when we get a new feature never realy works out, but since the last mini newsletter for the ah64 was quite some time ago now ( and with only minimal new information ) i was wondering when will we see the Laserwarning, it might be just a smal part of the survival equipment but i think it would play a huge part against tanks shooting at you, be it with the main gun or with ATGMs
-
thats interresting, i didnt know that still makes me wonder if the system the apache is using should roll this much when pitching but im gonna be honest, the roll problem is one of the smaler ones anyways right now keep up the good work guys!
-
i think it was another discussion on here talking in general about the scas/FM and some helicopter pilots, i acualy dont think they were apache pilots, did mention that the 4 rotor setup of the apache should mean that we should not have the left roll when pitching forward, for comparion, the huey got a bit of roll(less than the apache) with its 2 rotors while the hind got basicly no roll motion whatsoever with its 5 rotors ... so while im not a real pilot myself i do think something is off with the apache, mostly when it comes to the pitching behavior just to clarify, i did test the hind with all its autopilot channels off
-
i do wonder what the main issue behind the whole flight dynamics of the apache is, there is a lot of talk about the SCAS getting fixed and tuned but i wonder if the main problem isnt the FM itself, big part of that beeing the roll when you pitch forward, wich acording to some devs here shouldnt even be happening all im saying is, i hope the SCAS isnt getting "fixed" around a broken flight model since that would be the same as trying to adjust a PID to a bad input in the first place... wich i gues the SCAS kinda is, i have high hopes that ED is aware of that tho!
-
i wouldnt be suprised if one of the updates just broke something
-
yeh, i just had my first go with the f14 yesterday since the update, tested with my friend, missile came down right above him and just as the missile hit the 90° nosedive it started spazzing around like a gmod ragdoll pushed into the ground and lost lock, aside from that, even if it isnt jittering and spazzing, i feel like the biggest problem atm is that TWS doesnt account for lead, nearly all my shots overshoot and have the missile basicly trying to come back again to hit the enemy, out of 15 or so shots the only one that hit was within 8nm
-
i think the gun together with george broke with the LMC update wich added the motion compensation, the gun just isnt realy useable with george atm and it probly wont be till they state a fix for it in a patchnote, you can get him to fire a bit with having him on free fire but... just dont bother with it atm
-
if that was the case you wouldnt see the trail till after 2026 probly as far as i know they want to inplement the IAT first and (hopefully) redo the FM first before putting it out on trail wich hopefully they manage till end of the year

investigating Some of moving parts in the cockpit now not moving
dedlike. replied to Miro's topic in Bugs and Problems
im not sure if this only started with this update but after watching some old vids of the apache i noticed how the cockpit felt different and figured out it was the fact that everything is alot more static in the cockpit now ( exept for the animated dangly things) The vibrations slider in the special options was set to 50 and 100% with no changes https://imgur.com/a/Ql0oTo6 -

dedlike. replied to Schmidtfire's topic in DCS: AH-64D
the only wobble problem i realy have is when you are flying forward compleatly stable and exeed about 110 knots and with no input it starts to roll left/right back and forth. as for now, i dont like doing long flights mostly since i dont wanna do a 30nm flight at 100 knots but otherwhise the FM isnt compleatly horrible if you get used to it however, just like everyone else here, i cant wait for the day we get a FM update that acualy makes the ah64 a joy to fly -
ohh boi, you dont wanna come over to the AH-64d forum lol but i agree, if the plane can carry a weapon without any modification we should have the option to use it, afterall incase the airforce using those planes were to be in a state of war they might have gotten them after all...
