Never had any doubt

It's tricky. I agree with your sentiment, & I hope for and wish everyone on the forum regardless of race, religion, country of origin or political affiliation, their families, friends and their country-folk, the best outcome possible, but the reality is that how this turns out will be largely about how politicians deal with it, not the intensity of people's prayers, good wishes, or the advice of scientists. The last time the world's economy tanked like this Fascism and WWII grew out of the dislocation and anger that the political solutions to the WWI and the great depression generated. What's that saying ? "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men should do nothing." If we don't learn from the lessons of the past, we will be destined to repeat its mistakes. You can swap out the groups for whoever is locally appropriate, but remember the sentiment of:

No, it's because they are better engines (to do with superheating the fuel before injection into the combustion chamber). The stopping of the use of Russian engines has everything to do with political deal making, as Congress passed a bill to force NASA to transition to 'anything but Russian' motors.

That could just be because it's a pre-organised meeting where the same authority is in charge of the configuration of all the aircraft, and the ground crew make sure it doesn't ? Or because where they set more than 1 aircraft to the same configuration, and they do see this happen, they expect it to & so there's no point in reporting it... Or any number of other explanations that aren't 'someone made it up'.

Oh, and about this: I solemnly promise that on the day that both the people of the US, and the US Government, stop commenting on the actions and morality of people outside their borders, I will stop commenting on the actions and morality of those within the US borders.

Dude, As others have noted, you seem to have quoted me without reading what I said. I don't blame Trump for the Pandemic. I blame him for letting his greed and ego drive him to take a hugely important job that he's obviously incapable of doing. I blame him for delaying the US's response to a global pandemic because he thought propping up the stock market's confidence would improve his re-election chances, and to him was more important than saving American lives. Surely even his most ardent supporters must have noticed that while the disease was spreading like deadly wildfire overseas, he was saying that US numbers were going down, that it was no worse than the flu, and that it would disappear like a miracle by Spring ? It is obvious to the rest of the world that he has mismanaged every aspect of the US's response, and even from the other side of the world, the 10's of thousands - it may yet be hundreds of thousands - of needless American deaths is a tragedy no-one should ignore. His callous attempts to score political points by trying to imply that somehow if only he'd been allowed to build his non-sensical wall or somehow keep 'foreigners' out everything might somehow have been different is as ridiculous as his current claim that if he can keep US deaths down to somewhere around 100,000, he'll have done a 10/10 job. It's classic Trumpian 'blame someone else'ism. Who could have seen it coming if a highly stable genius couldn't ? Maybe his predecessor, who set up a department to respond to pandemics, only to have Trump disband it because it had been set up by Obama, and the man wrecks anything with Obama's name like a jealous stepchild wrecking their stepbrothers toys. I am angry at his stupidity, but more I am sad at the damage he does, and the lives he will waste.

Relieving him of his command because he put his crews' lives above towing the political line that all is well with the Covid-19 response is just despicable.

Su-27 Bug: No radar when inverted <1500m

Whereas I bought it for the Su-27, grew to love the Su-25, and never touched the A-10 till we started testing the A-10C, or the F-15 until we tested the PFM.

Didn't there used to be a mod to allow buddy lasing ?

Su-27 Bug: No radar when inverted <1500m
Weta43 replied to BlackPixxel's topic in Su-27 for DCS World
Hi BIGNEWY, When you say to me it's a fairly ambiguous phrase without some rational for feeling happy with it. It could mean that "We are happy with our implementation currently" because we believe it to be accurate... ...or it could mean that "We are happy with our implementation currently" because while we know it is inaccurate, we feel that the difference between this representation and reality is irrelevant to the SIM ...or it could mean that "We are happy with our implementation currently" because while we know it is inaccurate & has a significant impact on gameplay, we feel that fixing the representation would be too difficult to justify the time, effort and money needed to modify a change we made with all the goodwill in the world. ...or it could mean "We are happy with our implementation currently" because having it like this makes the DCS.Blue fighters much easier for casual users to fly successful sorties with and so enjoy their purchases & therefore more likely to make future purchases of DCS.NATO aircraft. I have little doubt it's the first, & assume that pilots are explicitly told that the radar is only stabilised to +/- 120 degrees because after that point there is a degradation in performance (otherwise, you wouldn't want them worrying their crowded brains keeping tabs on roll angle during an engagement), but the binary implementation seems a bit unlikely. To avoid confusion, could you be a bit more expansive about why E.D. are happy ? -
Lots of us ... :) The stable version runs well enough for most people to be able to enjoy playing it most of the time if you allow for what does work, & don't let the bile build up in your throat about what doesn't (for that matter, so does the OB).
-
It's a self fulfilling prophesy - if they only make full DCS modules of blue fighters, then of course the blue fighters sell better. Maybe they got their fingers burned with the L-39, but really - who in the West has heard of the L-39 except aviation nuts ? Yes, high profile aircraft sell better - so model some Red high profile aircraft - Everyone in the West knows what an Su-27 or MiG-29 is.
-
Or, as others have suggested, we could give to the Ka-50 features that the Ka-50 had, and leave the features of the Ka-27, Ka-28, Ka-29 & Ka-52 for modules of the Ka-27, Ka-28, Ka-29 & Ka-52
-
Maybe. The person you referred to is - after weeks of saying it will disappear in the spring, it's all under control, the numbers are going down, "who would have thought such a thing could happen*, & was earlier in the week saying that if 100,000 people died he'd have done a great, 10/10 job, is now saying that America should brace for a “very, very painful two weeks” & suggesting deaths in the US might reach 240,000. Even that's still fantasy land. The disease has a 2 week incubation period, and most of the country is only playing at self isolation to stop the spread. Cases are going to keep doubling every few days for the next fortnight even if transmission is stopped right now, and it isn't being stopped (& testing per head of population is still woefully low despite the administration importing testing components from Italy). *Who could have known ? The previous president ? The one who established a body specifically to deal with pandemics - only to have the current adminitration abollish it. Or the intelligence agencies who were giving disturbing enough briefings that a couple of Republican senators that were briefed ran out & sold their stocks, and warned their contributors to do the same. Or the Republican senators that were briefed about the coming pandemic, and after the briefing ran out & sold their stocks, and warned their contributors to do the same but publically backed the POtuS in his statements that there was nothing to worry about. Pretty much everyone knew that doesn't have the POtuS & / or Fox News as their primary source of infirmation. & now ?

Maybe a MAC addition though ?

:) It's not my idea - talk to our ally Saudi Arabia...
-
If the Saudi's keep pumping volumes to hold the price of oil at or below $10/bbl & put all the shale-oil producers in the states out of business, then pull production back to levels that lead to > $60/bbl, maybe Russia will have enough money to build a few more...

I agree, if it's going to be mind melting, then for most of us it has to be something other than an 'F' series US fighter - the game is saturated with them, and there's nothing to fly against them. Maybe something 60's 70's, but while you seem enthused, to me that's not really adding to the game - it's 40's / 50's WVR style air combat, but with faster planes, & leaves you back in the situation of aving only one aircraft from the era (like when there was only the Pony for WWII). This : "even if the release is far away from theirs" is exactly the point though. The game/SIM needs something that expands it. More Blue is more differentiation, but no growth. A Red aircraft expands the game. both in terms of new systems to learn & design philosophies to adapt to, and in terms of adding the abailty to have DAC that involves adversaries not 'adversary squadrons' of similar aircraft. For the Soviet pholosophy to be implemented, E.D. would have to get the MP datalink and probably AI GCI sorted, and dthey would both add to the game too. (edit: the whole 'Russian Govtwon't allow it' thing doesn't seem to have stopped the Mi-24, & an Su-27S is roughly a contemporary) Ah yes, but many more would buy it because it is Soviet. Mixed bag. I think some would buy it because they think it's mythically good, and might be disappointed with the actual capabilities of the avionics. Most would buy it because they realise that it is what it is, and that flying with the actual capabilities of the aircraft is what flying in a SIM is all about (Soviet aircraft are a bit like the P-51 in that respect - mythologised to the point lots of people expect it to be unbeatable, but in reality it has strengths, but many weaknesses too. But people still buy / fly the Pony :) ) Just an O.T. dig at E.D. - people that won't buy any more E.D. products won't buy any more E.D. products - doesn't matter what they are. In terms of sales or capabilities ? Sales - if E.D. never make Russian planes then sure, Western aircraft will definately outsell Russian aircraft. I think part of the Jeff's appeal though is that it's not Western, and people want something not Western... Capabilities - if they're what the aircraft had, people will be interested. People currently fly the FC3 Red aircraft & their capabilities won't be so different from that. 1/ if they've constructed the code in an efficient way, then for most systems this is a red herring. Radar is radar, data-link is data-link, HSI is HSI it's just parameters & GUI that you're adjusting. 2/ If they want the game to continue to exist, they have to continually imprive it & grow it. Not so long ago the same agrument would have worked against combined arms, WWII aircraft, radial engines, LTWS/TWS, searchlights, etc, etc... Maybe it's risky, but there is a risk associated with stagnation, and to avoid that they have to bring something new. TrueGrit have at least stepped across the atlantic and forward a couple of decades. E.D. needs to find some new territory to open up. Pretty sure they've said it's fixed wing. E.D. have said that the TrueGrit module isn't the aircraft they've been teasing, and that will be announced later.
-
Some general flying and a launch from near vertical midway through tSysSai0kWw
-
I completely agree with E.D.'s own stated logic - they have said it a product of imagination, produced to provide enough product differentiation to make BS3 appealing, and that they have no evidence such an aircraft ever existed.

The only people who don't think it's a big deal are those that get their news from Fox, and even Fox have changed their story now to say people have to take it seriously. if it keeps doubling its infections every 4 days, you'll see your 1.5million worldwide soon enough Re:"500K die of malaria each year, and the same from ebola." No. between 1976 and 2013, the World Health Organization reported 24 outbreaks of ebola involving 2,387 cases with 1,590 deaths. 11,500 people have died so far from covid-19 - more than ebola killed in 37 years. If you work it out, it's more than 7 times as many people in less than 1 % of the time. Re blaming China: China may have taken a couple of months to acknowledge they had a serious problem, but once they realised, they acted fast & effectively. Knowing what was coming, but telling people it will be OK, taking no steps to test or prevent transmission, and putting the stock market before peoples lived when you can see what's happening overseas - that's incompetence and recklessly endangering your own population.
