Yes and no. The V(3) have an infinity focus on the objective side of the goggle. Typically, you focus the goggles further out so you can see where you're going but you can adjust them so you can see close up. You can make out shapes and what not and see objects, but you can't read anything up close. It's like being far sighted and trying to read a menu. Depth perception is the biggest issue. Trying to view a 3D world through green 2D lenses. I biffed it multiple times trying to walk over rocks under NVG's at our parking pads in Iraq. Looking at the white phosphorus NVG's pictured above, it's the one on the left, but green. You can see distance great but up close like that is just a shape.

So, when I was in the Army, I was a crewchief on the UH-60 Blackhawk. I wore a Gentex HGU-56/P Helmet. For NVG's we wore ANVIS-6V(3)'s. 3rd gen NVG tech. Each tube had an FOV of 40*. You have an adjuster on the tilt shelf that moved the NVG's closer or further away from your eyes. Rule of thumb, you get them to just about touch your eye lashes. If I wanted to look under them, I had to raise my head then look down. Obviously, I didn't wear an O2 mask like zoomies do in their cockpit but the adjuster is still there since they all wear a form of the ANVIS-6 or ANVIS-9. I was just hoping they had the adjuster in the game to move the goggles closer to your eyes and I was just missing it. That's me with the Stewie patch at Fort Riley back in 2006/2007

So I found the dial to adjust the backlighting on the panel itself, but the EGI button and STR PT buttons themselves are beyond bright.
-
Is there any way to dim the NAV mode select panel? Holy crap is that bright at night...

Is there a way to make the NVG's closer to your eyes? You shouldn't really see the outside of the tube/s. They should be almost touching your eyes in real life. In the game it seems like their 6 inches from the eyes and it's unrealistic as crap.

cannot repoduce and missing track file HUD off from TPOD??
H60MTI replied to H60MTI's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
I'll try to get a screen shot next time to show... Had full GPS/INS alignment prior to flight. It's not a huge deal, cause I know the TPOD is right, just annoying as crap. -
I found the LUA for the logbook...What measurement are the numbers in? Is that seconds, minutes....111738.532...That is definitely not hours. This game logs hours very weridly compared to how hours are actually logged in Army helicopters...
-
F-18. No mods. I launch the mission from the "Missions" tab. Didn't do anything funky to launch the mission. I just find it strange that the hours weren't logged.
-
Is there a place that has some pre done mission for Marianas? I don't mind attempting to make one but it takes so long and I'm still very new at making missions.
-
No. Single player. Just here by myself.
-
I just wrapped up about 4 hours of flying. Went to my log book and it doesn't seem that a single hour made it there. Am I missing something or did those hours just not count for some reason?

As a former Blackhawk crewchief....LOVE IT! The cowling umbrella at the end was hilarious! Don't know why I never brought an umbrella with me at all while crewing. I would of definitely used. AR 670-1 be damned!

Well that sucks...Be nice to place a 2000lb JDAM through the top of their bunker and blow their nice plane to history. No fun

I know what you're talking about with the getting stuck part. I've had to use full burner before to get rolling if I happened to run off the edge of the runway or skidded off due to damage and had to get repaired in the sod.
-
Good thing it's been reported. It's happening to me at the moment. Half of my SLAM-ER's are just circling nowhere near the target and running out of fuel and burning in.

H60MTI replied to H60MTI's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
I didn't think so but it's just off, but way off... -
I have a target locked up on the TPOD, straight in front of me about 12 miles. For some reason, on the HUD, it's showing the target selection box way off to the left. If I slew the cursor on the HUD to match the target visually, the TPOD is way off. Is there some kind of boresighting step that needs to be done so the HUD and TPOD picture match up?

So, I created a mission in the editor. I'm flying the mission I created. I've noticed that some enemy planes will land, park, and then just disappear from the map. DId bad guys just take their jet a go home or something? Haven't seen that before...I've got my Warthog loaded for bear to blow their bunkers up and they just disappeared. I have nothing to blow up....Anyone know what's up with that or have seen that before?
-
Interesting...I'll have to check that out.

Invisible FARP? That's a new one Lol
-
Is there a flight ops/ATC versuon of the HMMWV in the game? In real life, our flight ops guys had a HMMWV with a giant base plate and mast in the back of a 2 seater that was used on FOB's for ATC/ FARP.
-
If this has been answered, my apologies. Is there a way to add FARPs in the game? Looking for both fixed wing and rotary wing. Ideally I would like to have a FARP off of a hard ball to have an A-10 roll into and one out in the middle of nowhere, like a FOB or PB, for rotary wings to land at. Fuel and armament would be awesome but mostly fuel.
