Shipboard landing & takeoff Practice
airea replied to tusler's topic in User Created Missions General
After landing, you have to engage the parking brakes (I dont know if there is one) or hold on the "w" key for wheel brakes... I dont which key combination locks the wheel brakes... -

Great missions, I landed on the carrier and the frigate in my first try, I am really happy now:) Now time to start learning the ABRIS thing:) -

MS FFB does anyone have advice on settings?
airea replied to DanKurt's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I have the same problem with non-coldstart missions. Resetting does not work, so disable ff for such missions, like instant action. -
MS FFB does anyone have advice on settings?
airea replied to DanKurt's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
%25 or %30 ff setting works also fine for me, as a higher level leads to violent kicks. Zeroing the ff in the control panel gave me a more comfortable gaming but I want to take the advantage of ff as long as the game supports it. So I increased the ff level to %25. But it is obvious that the game needs a fixing in terms of trimming and ff for MS FF2 sticks... -
With TrackIR, you can see yourself in the mirror... In fact, you can shave if you have your razor and foam with you:) Just kidding:)

What is ground resonance?

Being a big fan of LB2, I think there is no other current title matching DCS:BS in terms of realism, weaponry and flight dynamics.

DVD Case W/Box Art for the Dowloaded Version?
airea replied to RSWedge's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I second that:) -
I have a similar problem with the trim in air starting missions, ie. instant action. Swapping the axis did no good for air starting missions...

Same here, I am really excited to try the fix when I get back home. FF problem was my only concern so far in Ka-50...

BlackShark necessary to run later DCS modules?
airea replied to Squid's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
If ED will implement A-10 with the same detail level as Ka-50, I will be more then happy to pay for it as a standalone game... I am not expecting ED to market such a detailed product with an expansion price... -
Thanks mate, I will give it a try. Swapping the axes did not seem to be related to this problem at first, but if it how is it works, so be it:)))

I have a Force Feedback Stick (Microsoft Sidewinder FF2) and my problem is this: I pitch up for a hover, the speed drops to say 10km/h and I press alt-T. Still manually holding the stick in the hover position (pitched up), the chopper settles gently in a hover. Everything is good so far. When I press and release the trim button, the FF stick recentres itself (as it should be I suppose); but the chopper also recognises the FF's recentering input and pitches the nose down. The nose drops, chopper speeds up and I loose the hover. So far, force feedbakc did no good for me, so made the FF setting "zero" in the control menu. But if I will play this great game with no FF, it will disappoint me:) Do you know the solution? I have no other stick or input device connected to my pc. I guess my IQ is not enough for this game's trim function:)

How does the TrackIR behave with 2 monitor setups? It should move in 6 dof in the main camera monitor but it should not change the view for the Shkval monitor... Does it do like that?

Forget about the patch ED and work for the release of A10 module, you have 8,5 months left:)

Highest Quality Force Feedback Joystick?
airea replied to 's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I have MS SWff2 and using it for some 5 years I guess... The only backdraws that I can think of are the small throttle slider (as Jalava mentioned) and the number of buttons which is not enough for sims like DCS:BS. There are 8 buttons but 4 of them are not user friendly in terms of ergonomics... -
My problem is with the trim: I pull the thing to a hover, decrease the velocity to say 10 kmh, then press alt-t and it kinda enters into a hover. However, when I try to trim the thing to make it stay in the over without any fwd speed, I loose the hover and the nose drops down. I guess I am having some hard times with the trim function. I press and hold the T key and put the chopper in a hover. Then when I release T key, the nose drops instantly and the joystick centers. What does the trim button do exactly? It has no help for me in the hover?

After playing a few hours, I was still not able to release an ATGM. Then I realised that the gun trigger was not the button for missile deployment:)

OK, I liked the sim a lot, it is really a demanding study sim with lots of great features and a lot of effort. Thank to ED for this great software. But come on guys, the training section is very boring and not really "training" because of the way it is designed. Player is very passive. I was barely keeping my eyes open in some parts because of the monotone way the flight becomes. Matt tells about the stuff, flies the chopper, you just listen. And then he says "I told everything about this stuff, now do it yourself." The training section has to be much more interactive and put the player in the game. Those who played Longbow2 will understand what I mean. In LB2, the instructor was telling for instance "now turn on the TADS, lock the target by pressing this button and fire a missile". If you do not do what he says correctly, he was starting to yall at you:) LB2 was a very old game (it was released even before the invention of microprocessors I suppose:P) and it had a fantastic training section. Is it impossible for the BS engine to implement such an interactive training section? If so, please at least give us a better training section in the upcoming modules.

I guess current DCS engine is at least 4-5 years behind this kind of vegetation...

You at least have a simulation in which you cannot complete one of the missions... We just have the internet explorer in which we see just a bunch of screen shots:) Settle for that mate and pick another mission:)

Condor (a glider simulation) has winf dynamics affected by terrain... There are thermals, sinks, conversions, merging thermals, lee side rotor, etc... Great sim...

What is free track anyway?

What about my problem? I sent 3 or 4 emails to activations@lockon.ru, still no reply... Come on pals, I am bored of flying in FSX, I need FC:)
