  1. Sure, I can appreciate that, I just find that one of the best improvements you can make to visual quality in any game is to run it at native. Having said that, I know what it's like to be struggling for frames! (I remember running Doom 3 at 10 - 15 fps, just to get the eye candy).
  2. Just curious, why would you want to display the game at anything other than native?
  3. When I got my SSD I took an image of my old HDD C drive (on which I had Windows and DCS installed) and copied this across to the SSD. Quick, simple and painless.
  4. I'm sure we all understand that sales and discounts happen, it's when they happen to such a relatively new module that it bothers those who rushed to buy it on release (as I did with the Sabre and many did with the Mi-8 ). There is a similar thread to this already but it was suddenly closed. I guess that means suck it up and get over it. :)
  5. Yup, nearly 500 posts in a day too.
  6. Dora and Sabre for $15? Are you kidding me? I'm with you on this one MadCat. You obviously don't remember the Mi-8 then...
  7. Maybe these have been fixed, in the 2 years since the previous post...
  8. When data is written to an SSD it is scattered across the memory chips, in a sense it is very fragmented but this doesn't affect it's performance, unlike a traditional HDD. Defragging an SSD can reduce it's lifespan, as they have limited write cycles. @Soulres: Installing an SSD is not about improving frame rates, and I never said it was, it improves load speeds and disk access times; this can reduce pausing and stuttering caused by disk access in-game. As I mentioned, extra RAM also helps. Sure, you don't need an SSD but when you see your PC boot up in under 20 seconds instead of over a minute, you'll never look back!
  9. You can ditch the old standalone A-10C and install the A-10C module for DCS World. FC3 difficulty is similar to the SU-25. This explains what DCS World is: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=89885 And this explains the different flight models: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=122801
  10. Good point, although I think that might be Right Ctrl + Enter. This'll show you your braking levels (as well as pitch/roll/yaw).
  11. Try looking through here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=34062 Or get yourself on the Virtual Aerobatics server, for some non-combat flying, with some friendly, helpful pilots.
  12. Go to a drives properties, defrag is under Tools. If you do get an SSD, never ever defrag it, in case you didn't know. Edit: more RAM can help with the pauses, although stuttering during target hits is a known issue (lots of smoke, fire, particle effects causes it).
  13. You can "unbind" the connection between your headtracker and DCS by deleting the assignment, if that's what you mean(?)
  14. Try inverting your axis.
  15. My advice would be to set up your own x52 profile, rather than use someone elses. Get used to the controls of the A-10C and get a feel for what buttons you need to map to your stick; try also to map buttons/hats as close as possible to the real thing, then use spare buttons as you see fit. This might also help: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=119086 It's a blank template for the x52 pro. Print off a few and fill in with your mappings; they'll change a few times before you find a comfortable set that matches your play style.
  16. I'd like to think these forums are for everyone, and all questions...
  17. VLC lets you choose an audio output device.
  18. Plenty to look forward to. We are all lucky people.
  19. I've always found the Virtual Aerobatics server to be friendly and helpful, although it's purely for flying, no weapons! Certainly a good place to start though. Edit: Website - http://www.virtual-aerobatics.com/
  20. Start menu - ED folder.
  21. Might have to have a go at making one myself. Shame ED don't sell them.
  22. Could I ask why you don't want your default audio device to be your headset?
  23. Do you own, or have you tried, TrackIR at all? It may not be Virtual Reality but it does help immensely with SA and air combat.
