  1. Exactly this. Which is why selling the Normandy map and assets separately is also a good thing, so those who want a new map but aren't into WWII can buy it and save some money on not getting assets they don't want! It's all about choice as far as I'm concerned. EDIT: also being debated here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=163427&page=153
  2. I think you're looking at this in the wrong light. The community isn't being fractured at all, yes some will have more maps than others but unlike Battlefield or Call of Duty style multiplayer DCS maps tend not to cycle so frequently. Players will also tend towards servers where there are other players; no point playing the new map if there's no one on it! As for all DLC for 20 Euros, if ED adopted that policy I don't think we'd see many more maps in the near future! A lot of work goes into the maps and modules, they need to sell them at a price that pays for the cost of making them. DCS World is already a single player game AND also multiplayer. No one is being forced to go online, there is plenty to enjoy offline. And if you do go online don't feel you'll be left behind by not having all of the maps and DLC, I'm sure you'll find plenty of other players still playing the maps that you have.
  3. My advice would be to check them out in store, if you can. I'm down on the south coast so popped into local Novatech and was instantly sold on the curved (they had Elite running on it, which was cheating; it looked awesome!). You do pay a premium for curved but I find it helps with viewing the extreme edges of the monitor, which for the most part are in your peripheral vision. The flat screens just felt awkward at 34". Edit: just to add, I also recommend the 3440*1440 res at that size, over the 2560*1080. You'll make your GTX 1070 work for it's money but it's worth it; I also figured I'm more likely to upgrade my graphics card in future, so my hardware would grow into it.
  4. Okay, my bad. I have an X52 Pro and it works fine with the SST programming software; didn't realise you meant X52.
  5. +1 Same here. And I would always recommend latest drivers over older ones.
  6. The LG 34UM68 is only 2560x1080, I would strongly recommend going 3440x1440 for a 34" Ultrawide although I appreciate this bumps up the cost significantly.
  7. Odd because I find head tracking to be much easier and more intuitive than snap views. I'm also constantly looking around! Still, each to his own. :)
  8. Strange, that video actually looks fine to me, smooth. It's not ghosting on your monitor is it? Sorry, can't help.
  9. Never had judder/stutter on mine. Is v-sync on in DCS? (it could be screen tearing). Have you tried playing with Smoothing in TrackIR software?
  10. As cichlidfan says, just get a TrackIR; expensive but it works, and works well. Next month I'd have had my TrackIR 3 for ten years!
  11. Once you've set yourself as owner you should be able to go into Properties - Security - Advanced again and double click Users (in the list that's in the Permissions window); that's where you can set full control.
  12. Hey, no problem, just hope I can help; I went through most of this trying to get my X52 Pro to work! Don't worry about those .dll files, just need to try and delete the .pr0 file. To change privileges on the file you'll need to do this: 1. Right click file - Properties - Security tab - Advanced 2. Next to Owner click Change 3. In "Enter the object name.." box type your PC username, then click Check Names (computer name/username should appear in box now). Click OK. 4. Click OK on previous window and OK again on Properties window (so all windows now closed). 5. Open Properites - Security - Advanced again, double click on Users (in the permissions window), then click Full Control, then OK, and Yes to dialog pop-up. 6. OK on previous window and OK to close properties window. You should now have control over the file and can delete or rename it. Reboot. Test joystick. Fingers crossed because I'm running out of ideas, unless we do some Registry tidy up!
  13. Have you ever had the Saitek Programming Software installed (even if it is not currently installed)? Try this: Browse to C:\Windows\System32 and look for a file called "SaiD####.pr0" where the #'s are numbers; could also be called SaiC####.pr0. Delete or rename this file. Reboot computer. Test joystick.
  14. Okay, try this: 1. With your X45 plugged in, go into your Device Manager; you should see it under Human Interface Devices. 2. From the view menu click Show Hidden Devices; more X45 entries may appear, depending on USB ports you've tried. 3. Right-click and Uninstall all of these entries (leave the darker one that isn't greyed out). 4. Test your joystick. Still no luck? 5. Right-click X45 (USB) in Device Manager and Update Driver Software; select Browse My Computer for Driver Software; select Let Me Pick From a List...; from here you should be able to select USB Input Device, which is hopefully the driver that was originally installed and working, before you installed Saitek drivers. 6. Test again. :joystick:
  15. Sorry, you're quite right, for some reason the X45 doesn't appear on the drop-down list. Grab the latest driver from here, dated September last year: http://downloads.madcatzhosting.com/full/ Then we'll take it from there... :) Edit: Make sure you get either 32 or 64 bit version, to match your version of Windows.
  16. I recently made the move from 27" 1920x1080 to 34" 3440x1440, after briefly debating triple monitors but deciding against it. My specs are in sig but DCS runs fine, with 60+ fps in World 2.0. One thing I would say is at that size don't be tempted by the lower res screens, you'll notice pixels (which you may also have done on your 27" screen, if it was only full HD; I know I did!). Very pleased with the Ultrawide.
  17. Hi. I know what you mean, gone are the days when you can just boot up your favourite flight sim, plug in a joystick and get flying! Try downloading latest Windows 10 drivers from here: http://www.saitek.com/uk/down/drivers.php You'll need to uninstall current drivers first (right click Start menu, Programs and Features, look for Saitek entries and Uninstall, just in case you're not familiar!). Run the drivers file with X45 unplugged, then plug it in when program asks. Try that for starters.
  18. Yes, you can share profiles and I would share mine but don't have one yet :) What I meant was, as you learn to fly the Gazelle you must know there are certain key commands you use often; go to your settings and simply map these to X52 buttons. It's also easier to learn where everything's mapped this way! I think the right movement you are experiencing is due to torque of the main rotor, nothing to do with your joystick. Edit : you'll have to counter this with your rudder (pedals or joystick twist).
  19. For DCS or SST software? Either way, simply write down your most used commands, assign to buttons, done. A template such as this may help: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=119086 I use this to write down not only what command is attached to each button/axis but also the key assignment too, should I ever need to remap controls. Hope this helps!
  20. Can't believe I missed that! Welcome news.
  21. If your camera is having trouble reading the LEDs you should check on the TrackIR software to see what the camera is seeing ; it's either losing sight of you, or being confused by other light sources. Monitor size shouldn't make a difference. I also have an LG34 Ultrawide and I simply clipped my camera to the top and continued to use my existing TrackIR profile.
  22. Yes Mage, as Cowboy10uk currently has Triple Monitors I was actually comparing Ultrawide to that setup; sorry, should have made that clearer!
  23. What are your thoughts on a curved UltraWide? I guess it would be a downgrade in terms of FOV and display area but you don't have to worry about stands and bezels :)
  24. Awesome, I want! The link is to the russian section of the forum; do you have any more details on these? Selling, or just a personal project? Edit: Ignore that, found link to website. If I'm reading it right the PUI-800 (as an example) WITHOUT electronics is about £80 (GBP) http://www.letiaga.ru/galerea
  25. Ah, must have been A4 I was looking at. I've just ordered 4 of Chucks guides, reduced to A5 size (as they are not quite standard sized, so come with white border), spiral bound, black and white with colour cover, black card backing, for less than 20 quid in total, including delivery!
