  1. Your aspect ratio hasn't changed, it is still 16:9, so for a given vertical FOV you get the same horizontal FOV, although your new monitor has more pixels so a clearer image. If you wanted to increase horizontal FOV without affecting vertical FOV you would get an Ultrawide monitor (or triple monitor setup); if you imagine your monitor as a window, an Ultrawide would simply widen the window, allowing you to see more at the sides. As David OC said, you can manually change your FOV in-game (using * and /) and then save at a setting you are happy with. You can also edit the SnapViews.lua file found here C:\Users\[your username]\Saved Games\DCS\Config\View\ to change default FOVs. I have an Ultrawide monitor and have most of mine set to 110. Below are some examples from the Widescreen Gaming Forum showing 16:9, 21:9 (ultrawide) and triple monitor views, with roughly the same vertical FOV.
  2. Wow, thanks! Much appreciated.
  3. And a +1 from me too! I tried cropping and messing with the 4k version but it's just not the same.
  4. I believe you can already use joystick buttons as modifiers, would that not achieve the same thing?
  5. F19 Stealth Fighter is available on Steam! http://store.steampowered.com/app/347250/F19_Stealth_Fighter/ Don't knock it, I remember spending hours on this! (Atari ST version). In all honesty though I think the Flaming Cliffs modules and possibly even Game Mode are probably your best bet.
  6. Interesting tests and conclusion. Thanks for your efforts, very insightful.
  7. Would it be possible to add a global "difficulty level" slider to the Gameplay options, to help make the game more enjoyable for those of us who are not so skilled? The way I see it working is that rather than change the AI level, or missile effectiveness, it would change how susceptible our (player) aircraft is to damage. Currently we have the option of being either Immortal or not, I would like to see something that provides a middle ground, so our aircraft can withstand more than one missile hit but isn't completely invulnerable; this would affect all missions and campaigns. I appreciate that this game takes time, patience and practice but the sad fact is that many of us do not have the time to learn all of the modules (or even just our favourites!), each of the aircraft systems, as well as combat tactics. I've learnt the basics of the A-10C, am competent in the Ka-50 and have been through all of the Su-27 training but each of their campaigns remain either unfinished or not started, due to both my lack of skill and also free time. It would be great if I could just make things a little easier and I imagine this would help out beginners too!
  8. Cool, I'll be there; give everyone something to shoot at...
  9. I think he's fixed the issue here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3275610&postcount=15
  10. Now that you've fixed the issue you may want to revise that statement...
  11. I just replied in one of the other threads: Just installed the training and tested and it works fine. Your throttle won't move in-game until the engines have started, and the engines won't start unless your joystick is reading as fully idle; try moving your throttle to full then back to idle first, or decrease the throttle saturation a little in axis settings.

  13. Is the default not RIGHT Alt + Home and RIGHT Control + Home? Just to be clear, as well as the plane not starting up your throttle is not working in-game (i.e you have bound the throttle axis but it doesn't move in-game)? Do you have one throttle, or both left and right? EDIT: I've tried my version again and everything works fine, so not sure what could be wrong. I don't have the training missions so can't help you there either, sorry. Hope you find a solution soon!
  14. I think if you delete this folder "C:\Users\[your username]\Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input\su-27" then DCS will recreate one on startup, which resets your bindings; maybe try that. Or, maybe just re-name it, in case I'm wrong!
  15. Just wanted to mention that this is still an issue (running latest version).
  16. You can still use the VCB if you map keys/buttons to VCB mode select, you just don't see the knob physically turn.
  17. You can but it will look blurry due to the monitor upscaling to fit the screen. You could always disable monitor scaling which would mean that the 2560x1080 output would sit in the middle of the screen, surrounded by a black border.
  18. Go for 3440x1440, as you say you can always upgrade your GFX card later on. I had a 27" monitor at 1920x1080 and was never completely happy with the clarity, it always seemed a bit too blocky; my 34" ultrawide is roughly the same physical height but looks so much clearer being 1440 in the vertical.
  19. I think this is just what I need, to get me back into the Hog; will be following this closely.
  20. Go for 1440p! I had a 27 inch 1080p IPS panel and was never fully happy with the pixel density (it seemed blocky to me). I'm currently running a 34 inch Ultrawide LG @ 3440x1440 on a GTX 1070 and it does just fine. You will regret sticking with 1080p; your GFX card gets replaced more than your monitor, so go large! :)
  21. I posted this vid of a free flight in Nevada back in January and was getting about 50-70 fps at that time (100+ looking down in cockpit but that wouldn't be an entirely accurate indication of performance!), with most settings on High: Of course if you can afford a 1080ti I would go for that!
  22. Cool, nice one. I was never fully happy with my 27" monitor at 1080p and as the 34" ultrawide works out roughly the same height I figured I had to go 3440x1440. I find the curve also helps bring in the picture too, whereas the flat screen images seem to move away when you look toward the edges. Anyway, enjoy!
