Slugmouse - a mouse button emulator for hand-tracked cockpit clicking.
TFS replied to slughead's topic in Virtual Reality
Same as mentioned above, I have the slugmouse, and I'm on the point control list since 2023 and I still plan to get the pointcontrol. Who knows what the future of HMDs looks like. The quest 3 has incredible hand tracking. Other headsets don't have any or are any good comparably. So if I save up for the pimax super and the handtrackint isn't available yet or sucks, then maybe I'd have to use point control, if it works with HTCC then I'll use my slugmouse. However, I ordered the slugmouse. Paid, and only but days later I was using them... worth it to me.- 364 replies

It's a shame to see this, the community additions to DCS are really what ties it all together. Having more and more immsersive additions only benefits the players AND ED as we continue to return. Without many user made and community made scripts, mods, and software, the game loses much of it's functions. I don't see how this benefits ED, unless they plan to implement and capitalize on such features themselves thus somehow a user agreement issue. Major example is community scripting of CTLD. Logistics in someway has been broken after the last months patch. There are some servers that are crippled, servers that bring returning players daily, now maybe they have their own CTLD finally. These features and servers bring loads of enjoyment to people who spend a heck of a lot of time and money and keep returning. DCS is basically a hobby in its self. So good luck to finding a resolution. Hope it's speedy and clean. Otherwise unfortunate to see this go.

Vrtool inside as a shader is suppose to help performance, seems to make everything slightly sharper too. What would be neat if someone is good as setting up reshapes, setting up profiles per map. I downloaded a few profiles already and they are really good on some maps. I gotta fiddle around, flying only helicopters I'm usually low so it's neat to see the environment appear realisticly more than ever. Deep colors, natural grading. So happy this is working and others are now having success. We gotta share our findings.

Hmmm, maybe wired wifi6 extender sitting 2 feet away from me would work? I joined the discord. Thank you both for your responses. -

So I have 1gb internet wired to my pc far from my wifi6 router, if I run my pc as a Hotspot using the antenna I have connected me headset that way. Would this be ideal for VD? I keep hearing it's great. I'll have to try it out. -

You using this https://vrtoolkit.retrolux.de/install.html ?this adds the addon tab. After selecting the fx, turn off sync in the addon tab and turn it back on. It's all I'm doing now and it's working. Sorry hope it helps.

Hells YES, I am happy to help. Share any effects you think are dope. I have the color grade 3.0 I linked earlier, some places it looks amazing, in low light it's quite dark. I'm scared I will spend too much time testing effects lol

Make a change, recheck sync at the bottom of the addon. Works now for me, I make changes in the menu, and works in game. Can't make changes in game, but the effects changed in menu moves over. Hope this helps someone else. Reshade1.mp4

I got it working, I will try and make a video maybe tomorrow, I tried to get a video now but the whole time my audio wasn't recording so I am defeated and will try again and upload. HOWEVER I used the vrtoolkit, on the "addon" menu (that exists when the vrtool kit is installed) at the bottom there is a button that says "sync", check that off, when that was activated, ANYTHING changed in 2d changed in VR. Lastly, I could not get it to change in game or online, I would do all the changes in the menu, seeing the change, and then join a instant action to see the effects live. This worked over and over again. I do believe I had some performance inpact, but I was testing in and out so quick, so I'd have to compare with vanilla, and then a few reshades. Like I said, I will try and do a basic video tomorrow and upload, but I restarted my PC and it still works this way.

I will give this a shot in a little bit.

Lastly I just thought of it, since the last patch, did you delete metashader files and fxo files. Bunch of people in a bunch of groups had issues and when did that the game worked as usual again. Just another thought.

That's the most frustrating part, what works for this guy vs what works for me is different for you. I stopped using asw, and ovr toolkit as it hurt performance. Performance on my index also isn't the same as my quest 3. It's a puzzle and all our peices are sooo similar so it's hard to find the culprit. I wish I could fix it for you.

I'll give this a shot. You don't use the vr plug in either? You only check off openxr. You don't check off both direct x 11 AND open xr?

I tried this back and forth with ST and MT in VR, quest 3, non steam vr. I have a 14900k, 4090, 64gb ddr5 and running on a ssd m.2. I have DCS set to affinity p cores 1-7 currently using process lasso unparked. (still toying with 7 p cores vs 16p cores vs 32 cores, everyone says use p cores 1-4 or 1-7) I have my hmd at 72mhz, and I'm not a fan of ST, even bigger issue is the cursor in ST is black and extremely difficult to see, visuals are missing with proper rotor wash. I sustain steady performance in MT now without issue and ST seems as if it hasn't been updated or optimized in a while. Forgotten about and abandoned, while MT keeps getting smoother. You have plenty of ram, if it's ddr4, then maybe, if it's ddr5 then your cpu is probably your issue. What headset are you using, also if you get a hmd that can utilize foveated rendering that will help wonders too. That's my next step but performance currently is butter for my pc. I played with settings for countless hours though to achieve a smooth experience and I watched a disgusting amount of videos. What I learned is, what works for me will 1000% be different for you. I monitor gpu and cpu performance and I have my ram OC, my Temps never get remotely near concerning. I have the latest bios on cpu. It was not plug and play. Lastly, the biggest performance boost I ever got in vr for dcs was turning off windows gaming mode. No video I ever watched mentioned this, and it changed everything. Also not sure if it matters as I've been told it doesn't, but I have my wd screen at the lowest resolution possible. I've heard this has zero impact ok performance but I just can't imagine asking my pc to not render something in higher resolution twice. When I record through oculus mirror or stream I have 3 displays of what I see active on screen, runs fine. Probably why I think my vr videos looks lesser quality. If windows game mode is on, turn that off and life with be happier lol

UH-60L Black Hawk Mod ("Official" Thread)
TFS replied to Kinkkujuustovoileipä's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
I see, I wonder if I can just drop a texture and name a new file name? Idk, I really wish we could just drop the Kiowa or Gazelle pilots in this thing, would be the chefs kiss lol -

Thank you for your response. -
I experienced wake turbulence for the first time a few weeks ago when a friend buzzed my Kiowa in his F4, didn't know that was a thing and WOW, the effects exist fairly well. Done some testing with it since and when it's turned on, it's quite intense. Quick 14 second clip of my Kiowa from the mentioned event. *I yell kinda loud so if you're using earphones I am sorry

I wonder, even if a "SMOKE AND MIRRORS" effect, pun intended, almost like a trigger effect, where smoke, when within range of a vortex would minimize the smoke effect rather than interact with the vortex itself, thus giving the impression that the wind is affecting the smoke is possible FOR NOW? Poor mans smoke effect. Other games have smoke being affected by wind, now I'm not asking for that depth...YET lol Maybe it's not as simple as I thought, I'm no expert, but I remember having smoke effects as a mod in Arma 2 in the late 2000's on some 370 graphics cards or whatever it was at the time with whatever old engine that game used. Being picked up by helicopters in Arma 3 with smoke was always eye candy, now being on the opposite end, with such thick smoke, it's bleh. Even water rescues in DCS are sometimes almost laughable, hover IN THE SMOKE to "Winch" a pilot up, it's a pure blind hover at 30ft praying you'll be ok. Smoke should be doing something at the least.

So this is meant at the DCS current engine being incapable without a futuristic PC GPU? Otherwise there have been games for years now that have this effect added, and mods too.
