Thanks, Phantom. I suspected as much but was not sure. I have ASW turned off in OTT, but when my GPU gets overutilized, the FPS falls in half (to 36), which I don't mind, but AWS kicks on anyway. I'll check out the article. Cheers!

Is there a way to cap the FPS in VR to something below the refresh rate of the META QUEST 3 without generating stutters? Flying low over complex terrain causes my FPS to fall to 36 with ASW kicked on, but ASW seems to blur images a bit. I would be fine with 36 FPS if I could get it without ASW and the sturtering. I have tried both limiting the framerate in DCS and in NVIDEA control panel, and both cause micro stuttering. Any ideas greatly appreciated!

CPU runs +20° hotter in idle after update to 2.9.16.10523.
4romeodelta replied to Dmsea1's topic in Game Performance Bugs
I am experiencing the same issue running an 17 14700KF. CPU temps were consistently 50-55C before update, now 70-75. -
That is a great tip! Thanks.

Finally figured it out. For some reason, when the Supercarrier was placed on the KOLA map, the advanced waypoint properties that enable ICLS had a different channel specification than the carrier had in my other missions. Changing that to the usual ILS channel 11 fixed my problem.
-
It is. As far as I can tell, everything about the approach to the carrier is working normally except for this. The radio calls are all consistent with ICLS working, but no needles are display in the in the HUD.
-
Hey gals and guys. Any tips regarding how to get the ICLS needles to display in the HUD on Case III landing? I have created a mission in the KOLA map, turn on TACAN, ILS, make appropriate radio calls with expected results (LSO officer responding "ICLS lock on", "say needles, etc") but the glideslope/course needles are not displayed in the HUD. Any tips greatly appreciated!

I looked at the log before sending it and noticed the warning about core parking. Downloaded Lasso and checked....sure enough some cores were parked. Unparked them and the stutter is gone ! Thank you so much for the help.
-
Log is attached. Experienced three episodes of severe stuttering amid otherwise smooth 72 fps. Thanks for your help! dcs.log
-
Will do. I will do some AV8NG tonight and send a log then. Thanks!!
-
I have smooth, 72 fps framerates in all maps (Normandy, Kola, Caucuses) and all modules (F18/P47/Huey) but when I do carrier ops (F18/Caucuses/Supercarrier) the FPS will occasionally jump around (below 72 down to 40 or so) and the VR image stutters. Most of the time I experience steady 72 FPS with 30-40% headroom remaining on my 4080 super GPU. The FPS drop and stuttering seem to be unrelated to where I am relative to the supercarrier. I find it odd that the performance oscillates between smoot 72 FPS and much headroom remaining and a random stutterfest. Anyone experiencing the same? Any ideas? Looking to do simple Server to host Coop w/ a Friend
4romeodelta replied to Keith Briscoe's topic in Multiplayer
DUH. I didn't know there was a difference between active pause (which I was using to try to un pause the server) and regular old pause. Once I figured that out, I got it working. Thanks so much for taking the time to help! -
Looking to do simple Server to host Coop w/ a Friend
4romeodelta replied to Keith Briscoe's topic in Multiplayer
Hey fellow enthusiasts. I have created a server so I can fly with a buddy and everything seems to work as described here and in the DCS manual. But when I select an aircraft and hit fly, I am in the cockpit but everything is frozen. The views and panning works, but otherwise no movement of aircraft. Any tips on what I should try to fix? Thanks for the help!! -
Hey Shahdoh, you might be able to help me with this. I have made a new skin for the P-47 based on the a/c my father flew in WWII. I'd like to share it with those who might be interested. What is the best way to do that? Can my new skin be uploaded to the DCS User files list? Or is there another preferred method? Thanks!
-
Tepnox, Thanks so much for this info. Your suggested OTT settings drastically improved my Q3 image quality and FPS. Cheers!
-
I have seen auto FPS referenced in MSFS threads. Is it used in DCS as well?
-
I have similar experience with my Q3. Mission (or instant action or campaign) will start at 72 FPS with no stutter. Later in the flight the FPS drops to 36, even in low detail environments. Would love to figure out how to lock at 72 if anyone has a tip or two!!

Thanks for the tip! I'll check it out. Dad passed in '91, but he would get a hell of a kick seeing his Jug in the skies of DCS world...
-
Hey guys and gals. I am new to DCS, so please forgive if my questions are ill informed. My father flew the Thunderbolt in WWII, and I'd like to duplicate his aircraft - The Snortin' Bull - by modifying the skins/textures for the DCS P47. My online searches for techniques generated so many tutorials that I am unsure about whose approach I should take. Do any of you have recommendations for a good tutorial or set of written instructions to do this? The skins I will try to create will be based on a few photos I have of his aircraft like the ones shown here. Thanks in advance for the help!!

Thank you 9Line and Viral. I will give that a shot.

Hey guys and gals. Since the last update, every time I enter the VR cockpit of the hornet I am seated to the far right side of the cockpit and have to use the move seat left (RC+RS+Numpad 4) a few times to center my view of the cockpit. Anyone else experience this, and if so, is there a fix? I also fly the Huey and have no such issue.

solved DCS Crashing on VR startup (META QUEST UPDATE)
4romeodelta replied to cacatuapunk's topic in Game Crash
I am having the same problem. Crashes on VR launch. Was just fine until recently. Quest 3/NVIDEA 4080 Super dcs.log-20240801-191900.zip -
Thanks DZ. I'll give that a try. BTW, is core parking something that the Project Lasso app performs?
-
Thank for the tips, Phantom. I will get this figured out sooner or later!
-
Thanks for the tip re motion reproduction. I have never seen that option. Is it turned on/off in Oculus? DCS? or NVIDEA? I am using the Quest 3. I have experienced this plying instant action (Huey) and missions (F18/Supercarrier) ave experienced this in both instant action (Huey) and missions (F18/Super Carrier). My graphics settings are pretty much maxed out. I am using the Quest 3. I was under the impression that limiting FPS could reduce the workload of the GPU and therefore heat. I am not sure where I got that idea...maybe just my intuition. I have been shooting for getting my DCS graphics and Oculus settings to get the best VR image quality consistent with stable 60 fps. I am a newbie to all of this and I really appreciate the tips!
