PointCTRL - Finger Mounted VR Controller
RogueSqdn replied to MilesD's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
New VR Pointing Device I searched for this and found no info, so if it’s been gone over I apologize. Can you customize which buttons are left/right click? I’d want the button closest to fingertip to be right click on each FCU because right-clicking a switch moves it forward. Conversely, left clicking moves a switch aft, so I’d want that furthest from my fingertips. Thanks, and looking forward to this experience! EDIT: I see buttons in the instructions PDF but no mention of remapping. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk- 3421 replies

The better thing would be to bind your HOTAS controls to both modifiers so it wouldn't matter.

[REPORTED] 2.5.5.31917 - INS and Waypoint Issue
RogueSqdn replied to boscoh's topic in Bugs and Problems
That may be the case, but in the 1989 campaign you have a hot start on the deck and have these issues. Something needs to be done about that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I have a Cougar throttle with the Cubpilot HS upgrade that functions well. That said, if they do this, I hope they fix the nagging issues that required aftermarket fixes: 1) Hall sensor for at least the throttle, plus... 2) CRAPPY range and antenna pots. The antenna pot in particular, is notorious for losing its center detent. 3) Misaligned speedbrake and dogfight switches. I got the aluminum housings for them years ago. Fixing those issues, plus making it an individual USB standalone controller, would be my goals for such a unit. Switches on the base that mirror the F-16's ENG/JET START panel would be a plus, but not a necessity. The one other thing that I'd REALLY love, though, would be a better/more realistic detent system, if one can be done without a throttle rail.

[REPORTED] 2.5.5.31917 - INS and Waypoint Issue

I had been four missions into the five-mission 1989 campaign, and this bug bit me. I edited the mission date to 2001, and the INS worked. -

I preface this by saying I’m about 98% certain he’s not doing it anymore, and I had to search through my emails to find it (I got a .Mac account in 2005, still use the email address and I don’t delete a lot of stuff, just in cases like this when I need to search). The cost looks to have been about $72 plus postage. I have never had a problem with it, it’s worked flawlessly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It will work very well, particularly using the flaps and autopilot switches to control the F-16s two AP switches. You will still have a lack of analog axes though. You can use the friction slider for antenna elevation but will have to use buttons for the range knob. When I use it in BMS I use buttons (the coolie hat) for both knobs because I don’t like taking my hand off the throttle to change elevation. You could also use TARGET to create a virtual axis from two buttons if you wish. YMMV. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I used that setup for quite a while in Falcon 4. What you’re going to find is a lack of analog axes that can be frustrating. The antenna elevation and range knobs will have to be done with button presses and that may not be ideal for you. Also since the hats do not press in, for speed brake off (middle position) and centering the dogfight switch, you will have to dedicate another hat position for those functions, which may or may not bother you. It bugged the hell out of me. [emoji6] You also won’t have a paddle switch or dual-stage trigger. All that said, it does function and feel well. The stick is VERY lightly tensioned, so I’d recommend using stiffer springs if there’s a mod out there. Depends on your personal preference. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’m definitely interested in this, but my question is whether the stick will be able to mount to an Obutto? I suppose I’d have to build a throttle mount. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

TARGET not deactivating physical devices when TM virtual combo active
RogueSqdn replied to TWC_Alamo's topic in Thrustmaster
Just a tip that may be easier for you... I have all controllers plugged into a powered Anker hub with an on/off switch. I wait until prior to flying to turn it on, and that fixes this TARGET issue. Occasionally it still happens though, but a quick flick of the switch always fixes it. However, now since I’ve gotten VPC controls, the only thing I use TARGET for is controlling g my Cougar throttle, and have that programmed to occur at login. I have since moved the Cougar to a different hub. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Can't contact Al Dhafra in SOH Single Missions
RogueSqdn replied to Pizzicato's topic in Missions and Campaigns
I went and deleted it from all the Hornet single missions. Haven't flown them to check, but here they are. PG_Hornet_Singles.zip -
So far I got to the part right after the first landing attempt, and got shot down. Will try again in a little bit. I have nothing but the highest compliments for these. As a kid who grew up on Star Wars, Top Gun, and Iron Eagle, I'm having a BLAST flying these. Looking forward to you doing F-16 versions this fall.

Thanks Wags. I saw that in the video, but my question is will there be a way to know your number while having player voice turned off? Guess all will be revealed. :)

By the way, for that you can use either Joystick Gremlin or Autohotkey to output a keystroke (or vJoy button) when the throttle is at a certain point. Here's a test script I was messing with before VPC fixed their axis-to-button settings in the latest firmware. You'd have to tweak it a bit more to put out your desired keystrokes, and to get buttons for engine start, but this code should get you started: #Persistent SetTimer, WatchAxis, 5 return WatchAxis: GetKeyState, 2JoyX, 2JoyX ; Get position of X axis. GetKeyState, 2JoyY, 2JoyY ; Get position of Y axis. KeyToHoldDownPrev = %KeyToHoldDown% ; Prev now holds the key that was down before (if any). if 2JoyX < 3 KeyToHoldDown = x else if 2JoyY < 3 KeyToHoldDown = y else KeyToHoldDown = if KeyToHoldDown = %KeyToHoldDownPrev% ; The correct key is already down (or no key is needed). return ; Do nothing. ; Otherwise, release the previous key and press down the new key: SetKeyDelay -1 ; Avoid delays between keystrokes. if KeyToHoldDownPrev ; There is a previous key to release. Send, {%KeyToHoldDownPrev% up} ; Release it. if KeyToHoldDown ; There is a key to press down. Send, {%KeyToHoldDown% down} ; Press it down. return

Easiest is what I do. First have OTT installed and do NOT launch the Oculus service on startup. Second, in the Windows Services app, set the OVR service to manual. Third, have a USB extension cord go from the Oculus at the back of the computer to a hub within your reach. Lastly, unplug it when not in use. [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I added two alternatives for "Stennis" to VoiceAttack: "Johnny Reb" and "Rebel." :) Rebel to be used if VA has trouble understanding Johnny Reb. My radio wish is that there be an easier way to know your tail number other than external view (or whatever the Navy calls it, BUNO maybe?). This should show in the cockpit, or at the very least in the briefing screen.

PointCTRL - Finger Mounted VR Controller
RogueSqdn replied to MilesD's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
New VR Pointing Device Miles, does this mean you’re not going to make a mount for the Rift S? I just got mine. I know the top camera is not readily apparent, but to be honest I’d feel a lot better having a mount that doesn’t block the camera. That said, for all I know it might not matter when stationary and only comes into play with the Guadrian boundaries. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk- 3421 replies

F16 joystick/HOTAS discussion I think I should be able to handle something like this then! Since the Cougar is metal I think I’d be best off using nuts and bolts though. Good thing i have a few throttles worth of spare parts in case (read: when) I screw up! [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks for the reply! I'll have to give something like that a try with my Obutto. How did you mount the brake lever (and the cable holder on the right) to the TQS body? Glue to the plastic surface? I ask because mounting on a metal Cougar might require a different method. I'm thinking bolts run through and tightened down with nuts. Lastly, what is the clamp that you attached the brake line to the green wire with? EDIT: I wonder if this is enough to get this done. Need to figure out brake-to-wire attachment though.

F16 joystick/HOTAS discussion Any way you can provide a little more info on the lever mod here? I’ve long been interested in modding my Cougar to achieve better idle/AB detents but wouldn’t know where to start. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Actually updated. Now arriving tomorrow. [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Still have mine, with Cubpilot's hall sensor mod. I'd probably jump on a new one immediately, if for no other reason than I wouldn't have to mess with the Cougar Control Panel ever again (I have TUSBA R2, but calibrating the knobs on that SUCKS).
