Sorry about wasting your time - I have since been advised that 'Liveries' go directly in the 'Saved Games' and not the 'Saved Games\Mods' folder. Stupid boy!
-
I run both 2.5 and 2.5.1. The Mods folders in the Saved Games directories are identical. However, while I can change the livery in 2.5, I only have A-10C Grey livery available in 2.51. Can anyone suggest a reason for this?

Thermal, I have experienced a similar problem. I am fairly sure that it is the sun reflecting off the displays. Try manoeuvring in bright sunlight and check if that is the source of your problem.

I use the control column for the cyclic, and the throttle for the collective. I set the collective the opposite way to a real helicopter, so that forward increases power, just like a Harrier!
-
Are you sure it doesn’t read “if you can read this, you are flying too close”?
-
Thanks for the tip Cap’n. I’ll give that a try.

I have been unable to get the AV-8B to contact a JTAC. When I select the message giving my time on task, nothing happens. I have tried on VHF 134 MHz, but I am unable to change the AM to FM on the Mission Editor radio set up to use my normal FM frequencies. Had anyone any info on how to use a JTAC, or will we have to wait for it to be released at some future date.

Ciribob, is this latest version compatible with HELIOS? You advised that 1.4.8.0 wasn't and i reverted to 1.4.6.0. This remained compatible with 1.4.8.0 server. I note the warning that 1.4.9.0 will not work with earlier client versions, but no confirmation that it will work with HELIOS. I suspect that my group will want to update their server to 1.4.9.0, and am concerned that this will make either HELIOS or SRS unavailable to me - either would be a disaster! Advice requested, please. EDIT: Sorry, just re-read your post and note that it is now compatible with HELIOS. RTFM, Stupid!

I almost always have the same problem with the torrents not shutting down after updates. I have attached my last autoupdate_log_old.lua file - together with the autoupdate from the repair I ran immediately afterwards to confirm that the update had completed OK. autoupdate_log_old.txt autoupdate_log.txt

Input Devices Re-Initialisation
flyco replied to Dutch Baron's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
I have been flying DCS in the same Windows 10 PC for about 4 years. This repeated re-initialisation started around Jun 2016, at about the same time that DCS introduced the hot-plug-in capability. Prior to then, there was no re-initialisation, after that it happens on just about every sortie of more than an hour or so. It is possible that MS made some changes to Windows at about that time. But, on the circumstantial evidence thatI have, my money is on the DCS change. The most frustrating aspect is ED’s unwillingness to acknowledge that it has even noticed that there is an apparent problem. -
After installing Update 5, I have Shortcuts folders: _backup.001 to _backup.019, but not to any of my other subsequent .backup folders. They are in the DCS root folder. I presume that this was a glitch during the update. A repair has had no effect, and DCS seems to run OK. I presume that I can delete these?

Having had problems with KB crashing on starting it, I did some probing and found that it appears to be looking for a non-existent Flaming Cliffs file. Hence I deleted my data for the F-15C that I had set up in KB and it then worked fine again. I hope this may help some others who are missing this extremely useful mod.

I have used Kneeboard Builder for some time, and until 2.5 came out it worked fine. I still run it on 1.5, but like many others, I have found it vey troublesome over the past few weeks. I note that the original author of this utility has stated that he has stopped work on it temporarily, until 2.5 settles down.

I have long used such a system to position my kneeboard where I want it. However, following the most recent update to 2.5 OB it no longer works. Anyone any suggestions?

As a fellow UHD monitor use, I must agree with the above post. With a paused screen, knowing where the ‘bogey’ is and using max zoom, I can just about pick up a Spitfire-sized target at between 2 and 3 miles. The use of labels doesn’t help much because of the other new ‘gotcha’ - I use a second monitor for my Helios and so the labels are considerably displaced and variable. I can’t remember being shot down by the ‘hun in the sun’ so many times in one sortie - even without the sun!

If it is any use, I have produced a single page diversion chart, which assumes a start from 2000 ft, with all stores expended and a fuel state of less that 2500 lbs. The main - 'Maximum Range with Fuel Remaining' - chart, assumes a fuel at destination of 800 lbs, which allows a PAR, an overshoot into a (tight) visual circuit and a landing with around 350 lbs in tanks. You enter with remaining fuel above the 800 lb minimum at destination, and read off the maximum range for height climbed to. The bold figures show optimum height, and the max range, assuming a climb at recommended climb speed (200 - 180 kias), a cruise at 180 kias and a clean descent, again at 180 kias. The three charts above it show the separate figures for the climb, the cruise, and the descent. I was surprised to find that with only 1800 lbs, I could climb to 25,000ft (covering 30 nm), cruise for 50nm, and descend (covering 34 nm), and still have fuel for a PAR, overshoot and circuit to land. I have tested these figures and they do work. A-10 Diversion Sheet.pdf

It has probably been asked before, and I apologise if it has. But, is there any point in keeping the 30 to 40 .backup files, going back over 2 years, that I have in my 1.5.8 and 2.5 Open Beta folders?
-
I had problems setting up Kneeboard Builder in 2.5. It would either crash on start up or at the 'Preferences' stage. I checked the installation against my 1.5.8 installation and found several files missing - notably in the Images folder. I transferred all the 'missing' files from my 1.5.8 set up, deleted the .config file and tried again. It now appears to work OK.

Units in this case are AI KC-135 Tanker and Client A-10C. It worked previously with these 2 aircraft, when as a pilot in the A-10C I could see the green symbols of the tankers, but does not seem to be working now.

Has the EPLRS Command been removed from 2.5. It does not appear in my ME
-
Ciribob, thanks for the response. In fact, I have fixed it although I am not sure what the source of the problem was. i carefully checked through all my Saved Games files and found that during the update to 2.5, the export.lua file had become cut to around half its length, although the SRS line at the end had not been altered (that had been the first thing I checked). Because my export.lua is around 330kb in length (it contains all Capt Zeen's Helios data) I did not work through it, but merely replaced it with the file from my 1.5.8 (in which SRS works fine). The result is that SRS now works perfectly. Thanks again for your speedy response, and, of course, for SRS itself.

I too am unable to join a 2.5 server. Works OK with 1.5.8 I have attached the log from my most recent failure to connect. The Overlay appears but all radios are listed as unknown. SRS Log 4 Feb 17.txt
