They have been solved for YOU. Which, again I think is great. I'm talking about MY experience and what is important to ME. I think you have a very difficult time understanding that people might have different priorities or put heavier weight on certain aspects than you do. It's okay that I think it's a gimmick. It's okay you think it is greater than sliced bread. It's not there yet for me. I'll never be happy with VR until it gives me better interfaces for controls - period. OR allows me to better utilize my existing setup. It works for you - great! Not everyone is aligned with you. As a side note - I could not imagine ever talking politics with you. hahaha

You crack me up. Anyone who defends their position is portraying buyer's remorse yet here you are pushing your VR experience.:lol::lol: Clearly, spending money is not an issue for me; just take a look at my blog in signature. Both my PC and setup are $$$. If I thought VR, even as an addon, would check the boxes that are important to me I would have pulled the trigger on it. Having tried it, to me it's a gimmick in the current state. I would buy it and it would sit on shelf - THAT would be buyers remorse. To be clear, I'm not anti-VR. It just does not meet my need, yet. That's not to say in 5-10 years (hopefully sooner) it won't. I imagine at some point I'll move over to it; I just do not see it in the foreseeable future. But I like to be surprised.

Yeah I mean - it'll get there some day more than likely, but I think we are talking at least 10 years. Most innovations are going to be catered to the gimmicky/silly game market as there is more profit/ easy usability there than the Sim Market. Prime example is Ace Combat 7. That game is going to gross more in sales in a month than DCS would in a year. That would have been a great way to break into the for-the-masses flyboy game. VR couldnt even do that, likely because of performance concerns. If there was a title to really hone in on the whole VR/Flying experience that was it. Instead 3 missions are VR capable and only the the Play Station. I'm not, in any way advocating for AC7... I'm just noting the obvious. VR is not geared towards simmers/flyboys and it is unfortunate. So I went the simpit route with TIR.

I meant the literal flicking of a toggle switch, not something that gets mounted on your hand that allows you to click, or mouse wheel.

There are certainly innovative solutions that are in the works that will give us workarounds; that is for sure. I don't think you'll have major VR innovations for DCS-grade simulations from major companies. There is not enough $$ in the market for it. VR has been mostly geared towards gimmicky, silly games. There is some innovation and interest on the commercial end of things, but definitely not flight simulators. I think its great we have 3rd party folks coming up with innovative solutions, but it still doesnt check my box of physical control interaction and customization. To reiterate: Mine, me, myself - maybe not you.

Yikes man, no need to be hostile and offended. I’m super glad you’re happy with your VR purchase, but that does not mean everyone would be. Like I said, everything has pros/cons. I’m not saying my setup is the best for everyone. I said my setup is best for me. The question the OP asked was our experience - I gave my experience. It is not a fallacy that VR has limitations and one of those limitations is having a full blown simpit with dozens of buttons and switches. Unless, maybe if you went with a 1:1 replica of a jet which your VR “view” matches up to a pit. But that comes with its own limitations, too. If it worked I’d be buying VR and using it along with my simpit. Or I would just outright choose VR over my simpit. You’ve got to settle down and realize your opinion is not the only right one no matter how offensive and abrasive you want to be. Your post is disappointing.

For me, I prefer TrackIR. The limitation VR has is that it does not really enable you to have a working physical cockpit with buttons/switches all over the place. I run a simpit where I have a functioning/customized touchscreen UFC. Having VR would not enable to me use this. I never have to touch a mouse/keyboard for any functions. VR is great if you keep things relatively simple. That is, only mapping things to your HOTAS and maybe a couple of MFD button panels. But you would have to break immersion by reaching for a mouse, doing auto starts and what not. Everything has pros/cons. I used VR and I was not impressed. I mean, I was impressed with the theory and the potential future of it, but in my mind, having a SimPit+TrackIR is far better than VR. That's my opinion though.

Hey all - Just a heads up I've created a build blog for my pit here: https://guppy.home.blog/ It goes over: - Design/Inspiration - Fusion 360 and creating my model - Monitor/Screen selection (specifically my setup) - DCS export of main sensors (L/R DDI, AMPCD) - Windows monitor Config - rewiring your own HGU-55/p More topics to come, but I figured I would socialize it.

This is just hilarious on multiple levels. First, not sure where the heck the VR stand point came from LOL. Second, VR needs a major title to take off. Most people use it for gimmicky steam games. Even Ace Combat 7 couldnt even launch a full VR release. Instead they kept it to 3 missions only on the PS4 Pro; zero for the PC release. This speaks VOLUMES to the practicality of VR; more specifically to the cost both in dollars and performance. VR has a long, long way to go and without any major titles releasing with it. It won't be our little flight sim niche community that bolsters it. VR needs a flagship title. I couldn't help but jump on the VR bit. But seriously, where the heck is the hornet stick!?

- IKARUS can run off another machine. This would be any gauges, switches, or buttons you have programmed. - I believe somewhere I read you are able to export sensors and send them to another machine. The problem with this, as I researched it before, it will break multiplayer for you as it will fail the integrity check. While I do run a single PC setup for my simpit, you might find beneficial information in my blog. It's located in my signature. I discuss monitors, IKARUS and my system specs to drive 7 monitors (1 primary 6 secondary).

If they are "aiming" for a release this year I'd suspect Q4.

While the Cougars do allow less hassle dont forget they are sized smaller than the L/R DDIs and AMPCD for the hornet. And they are smaller than the R/L MFD in the Warthog. I've long considered building my own to make those panels a big larger but - meh. Nice work!

Hey All - Setup: I run 3 Cougar MFDs. Each are individually identified as F16 MFD 1, 2 & 3. These were initially setup on a previous PC before I upgraded back in October. By "setup" I mean I changed the ID of the 3rd MFD to "3" and changed the indicator LEDs on all panels to Identify them as 1/2/3 so I knew where I wanted them placed. Problem: In short, I cannot change the LEDs on MFD 3. TARGET software does not even see MFD 3. I've unplugged all the panels, only had the 3rd one plugged in, switched ports... NADA! A little more background: Previously in Windows USB Control Panel I could make whatever changes I wanted to the MFDs. I could change their ID, LED intensity and all of that jazz. I cannot anymore on this new PC... I assume its a new driver windows downloaded. Further, I assume TARGET takes over all of this now. Windows USB Control Panel does see all 3 MFDs, TARGET does not. Any thoughts? All I want to do is turn off the indicator lights on the 3rd MFD. Thanks!

Yes, I can. Did you confirm in "setup multiple displays tab" of NVCP that your primary monitor is selected? Are you running a DP cable ?
-
Yep! I run GSYNC as window mode on my main monitor. follow my blog! https://guppy.home.blog I'll be posting some good info on the front console and monitor setup today or tomorrow and I'll be taking deeper dives into how I did it.

With the release with MAC will we see a more similar way to extracting the displays as the full fidelity aircraft like A10c/F18c? Currently in, say, the F15c you cannot pull many of the digital displays to a secondary monitor such as the RWR and Armament screen. Just curious if this is getting addressed or not or if it will be no change in the current model. Thank!

I'm running a 34" 2k monitor and 6 sub displays. Frames will hit hard - finding a monitor with gsync will prove to be super beneficial. My frames are in the nature of 40-60 and I need to tone down a couple of settings. The fact that you are running a 1080p monitor should help you. Even more worse than pushing pixels is the fact that you have to run your game in Window mode. So not only are you rendering your game but youre rending all your desktop processes, too. Window mode KILLS frames. If I run in full screen mode my frames are well over 120 fps with maxed everything. 2x 1080 TI 8900k @ 5.3ghz 32gb ram

Wags, can we talk cable management for a moment? Haha kidding. Love all the standby HOTAS. Do you have a favorite? I assume the Hornet? Personally I love the VPC T-50 base with the TMWH grip... have you tried the hornet grip with the T50 base?

Enjoy everyone!

Virpil WRDBRD Base vs. TM Warthog
Guppy replied to obious's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
They can... but the stronger ones arent strong enough for me. It's very much a personal preference thing. Others will like it. I think the feeling is less than the TMWH base itself. You might like a looser feel. The problem is the metal stick is so heavy. If they cam out with hard center cams like the t-50 base I'd like it more. Again, this is just my personal preference on it. Other than that... it's 100% fantastic. I imagine I will be quite pleased to use it with the hornet grip (if it ever gets released).
