Virpil WRDBRD Base vs. TM Warthog
Guppy replied to obious's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Being an owner of WarBRD, T-50 and the TMWH I can tell you the VPC software is far more powerful than TARGET. You can do more and have far more options. The problem is the UI is terrible and its not very intuitive off the bat - TARGET being more simplified is easier to use and understand and is probably suitible for most users. With that said... VPC continues to blow my mind from a hardware standpoint. Though, I will say the WarBRD does not work well with 1) extensions and 2) WH Grip since its metal and heavy. The springs/centering of the WarBRD are too weak IMO for the WH Grip or even the mongoos with extensions. -

Yep! Super easy just time consuming.

nautical nonsense!

I just wish they would put in some temporary FC3 type TWS solution in the interim. Same with IFF and such. I dont care too much about having to set IFF frequencies, or whatever... Likely that's going to be done by mission planners any ways. Just get the functionality out there.

I have 2x 1080 Tis - SLI is not running when I have this setup turned on.

That's correct - 8. 7 are used when I'm flying (6 aux; 1 primary).

The number of monitors really isnt the issue, it's the amount of pixels you are pushing; at least for a game perspective. DCS is required to run in windowmode to make this all work. As such, you can expect to lose up to 40% of your FPS. I run a 2K 34" monitor and My frames are from ~40-60. Whereas, in full screen I'm running 70-100ish, if i recall correctly. I like the individual monitors as it makes the shape of the pit cooler.

Use the first page. It shows everything.

A little help from the multi-monitor Guru's please...

Change "AMPCD" to "CENTER_MFCD"; should work after that. -
This is a fantastic video that should answer your question... Too long? 3200 is the sweet spot between price/performance before the benefit drops off. Speed does matter... you'll likely pick up a few frames upgrading to 3200. How many? ehhhh... 5? Shot it the dark.

Negative, it's 1.60934 according to google. https://www.metric-conversions.org/length/miles-to-kilometers.htm Also to the OP: we aren't being arrogant. No offense, you're kind of being helpless in all of this and we are trying to help you. The f-18 specifically tells you time to WP, Miles and counts down. What possibly do you need to know other than how to count? I Could maybe see struggling with a WWII bird like the Mustang because it doesn't have all of these elaborate systems... but at the end of the day there are numbers and the bird tells you what number you should be at or will be at.

For every 1 mile there’s technically 1.6 KM. Just make that number 1.5. 10 miles, 16 KM. 3 miles, 4.5 KM. doesn’t need to be precise. Further all of your maneuvers are based on speed indicators in the cockpit so you only need to know the actual numbers. I think you are over complicating this for yourself.

Not possible to my knowledge. Not sure why having imperial measurements is a reason to completely disregard an aircraft? You get used to it over time... IE flying Mig29 and dealing with metric, etc.

Even if everything is perfect, a bolter can still occur according to documentaries I've read and watched. While they have it down to a near exact science, of the optimal window a particular plane should operate in, it can still occur. So never be over confident in your approach and always full power on touchdown It looks like a lot of other useful advice has been offered in this thread, which should guide you to that window.

What to Expect in the Next Hornet Open Beta Update (11/21?)
Guppy replied to Fropa's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Lets hope they fix radar elevation. At this point, that's all I can ask for. -
I would LOVE it if we could have the ability to have our names on our jets when joining a server. Similarly how we can manually edit our airplane numbers. IE: John "Guppy" Rudell or something along those lines. I imagine it would not be a whole skin as it could operate as a texture above. (similar to the numbering)

How is it with a T50 stick and extended? With the WH Grip I use a 125mm extension. I imagine I would go down to a 75mm extension with how much taller the T50 is.

Hey all, I just received my WarBRD and let me first say, WOW. But that “wow” does not come without its drawbacks. Overall, for standard users who are coming from an NON extended TMWH, you will be THOROUGHLY pleased. I’ve had a TMWH for nearly a decade and VPC have quite simply come up with an amazing product that almost can be described as a force feedback. It’s precise, smooth and amazing. Anyone who wishes to upgrade their TMWH base will be thoroughly pleased with the WarBRD. To be clear, in standard setups, WarBRD is superior to the TMWH gimble... hands down. However, a HUGE bit of caution here for those with joystick extensions and using the TMWH grip. DO NOT buy this product. The weight of the TMWH grip is far too high for anything beyond a couple of inches. Even with the heavy springs and soft center cams the stick has too much weight and does not center well. VPC’s website does caution using extensions with their joystick mount but does not properly call out extensions in general; especially the weight of the TMWH - they should. As of now I have put the base on the shelf until they release new cams and springs to assist with this. I’m back to using my TMWH with heavy spring for the time being. That being said, if you want to fly with your fingertips, you can certainly do this with this setup. I however do not. So for my purposes, in my simpit (link in my signature), I’m very disappointed with the WarBRD. However, once the Mongoose T50 is back in stock I’m going to pick one up and see if the weight and centering is better (or Hornet grip gets released). Hopefully this helps people decide who are on the fence, with or without an extension.

Thanks! I used a 1/16" aluminum sheet. I first used painted foam board to determine the general shape and size that I wanted and took measurements. After that I drew out the shape in Fusion 360, added some mounting screw holes and submitted the DXF file to be fabricated. The same company that fabricated it also rolled it into the shape I needed. I think all said and done it cost me $150. I drew the shape out in MSPaint:music_whistling:, but it worked for them. The rolling was not as precise, but I just needed it in the general shape to let the tension of the screws do the work. I added some edge guards around the sides... you can get them for super cheap on amazon, basically black silicone that clips onto the edges of metal.

To start off... I have a crazy rig: 2x 2080Ti, 8700k @ 5.3, 32GB Ram, etc. Everything liquid cooled in a custom loop and overclocked. When I run DCS in full screen there are absolutely no issues at all and my frames get well over 100 fps even on max everything. The challenge for me is that my simpit (linked in my signature) runs 6 additional displays and has to run DCS in window mode. Window mode, as you likely know, is not very performant. With that said, my frames can get as low as 30 fps when near a bunch of objects and as high as 60 (when up in the sky). Does anyone have a similar issue? Is there a way to pull the displays (AMPCD, MFDs, RWR, etc.) from the game without having to run in window mode?
