  1. This is an issue - I can confirm. I have to edit the MDG_StrokesDefs.lua in order to get my exported images to display clearly; and yes it messes with the ingame displays. The A10c does NOT have this issue. For what it is worth here is my strokes def: Here is my custom monitor file for a 3440x2240 resolution:
  2. As a FYI you can remove me from the list of interested users. I gave up VR and returned my headset. Keep up the great innovative work, though. Hopefully by the time I go back to VR we will be living in it, #MatrixStyle.
  3. Mod, can we update the title to reported now that track files by both myself and another user have been supplied? Thanks!
  4. I see a correlation between missions with AWACS. Missions with them appear to be killing FPS.
  5. Chafer - is this with the Hornet? If so, see if your SA page is turned on. If it is, that is likely the cause of the issue. I'm finding 40-50% reduction of FPS when I have the SA page up (Regardless of it IKARUS is running or not).
  6. According to their Facebook (I inquired on why, too), it's because the bank they do business with does not support preordering CC sales.
  7. Here is a track file: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1DUXo7dwVA-x6k2NfkrqnnWNMIsQQp5am/view?usp=sharing Please let me know if anything else is needed. I can reproduce this easily.
  8. I’ve only noticed this in multiplayer, but I see a substantial FPS drop when I switch to the SA page. Below is a YouTube video of me switching back and forth. TRACK: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1DUXo7dwVA-x6k2NfkrqnnWNMIsQQp5am/view?usp=sharing 2080Ti 8700K 32GB multiplayer; 104th server is where this was captured from. I have not been able to replicate this in single player. I had my simpit turned off to verify it happens without all of the exported sensors and other things running. It does. Let me know if I should provide additional information. *ADDED TRACK FILE*
  9. For me, having a bandit in close whether they were on my 6 or about to merge... VR gave me the most tactical awareness possible. I was able to swing my head around, glance at SA page, flip my head around. I think what helps is that you know that natural position of where that aircraft will be since VR is a 1:1 scale. Problem was, target identity. I was chasing a blurry pixel. It just didn't look good and that broke immersion for me. Or, mid fight i needed to feel around for a button that I could not see. With TrackIR I think it is easier to lose exactly where that bandit is in relation to your head movements.Since you're making small movements vs real. Obviously, having used TIR now for over a decade I've gotten pretty good at it, but it can still be a challenge. Also, I dont need to feel around for a control, I can glance in my Simpit and switch a radio in SRS pretty easily and things just look a whole lot better; but its a screen, which breaks that immersion, too. Both offer advantages - but I think VR wins in a in-close dog fight.
  10. I just... man. I'm trying to get my face out of my palms right now and it keeps just falling back in. There are far more worrisome things in this community than a "guild" not delineating themselves as virtual squadron. People find fun doing whatever it is that they do. As long as they aren't stating they are actual members or trying to blur the line of fake and real, who cares? Are you in the military? Are you a fighter pilot who is offended and part of an actual CVW? Are you speaking for someone who is, who voiced out about this? If you answered no to any and all of those, you're just causing issues where there don't need to be issues. If you think this is an issue then perhaps reach out to some of the folks in the community who have and are part of a CVW? Mover has a user name on the forum - reach out to him and see what he thinks. If enough real aviators agree with you then maybe come back - or contact a mod. Further, you posted a video on your youtube calling yourself CVW-8. You're breaking your own rule...out of control. This is a little absurd.
  11. Both Cosmos and Quest are a step backwards (in terms of clarity) than the Pro, from what I've read. Yeah, its more accessible but does not seem to provide advancements to what VR really needs and that is the performance and clarity (everything I mentioned in previous posts).
  12. cercata - I only meant that most of the investment is in the standalone more easily accessible (and for me gimmicky) headsets. That's where the money is at right now - not PC gaming. (over summarizing) Correct me if I am wrong, but all of those technologies are yes, 2+ years out. Then, developers (like ED) need to adjust their own code to migrate the new technology. ED moves slow and us seeing that would be far longer.
  13. Once VR can enable me to run over 4K in each eye, at max graphics and DCS finally figures out hand controls... I'll be in. Don't get me wrong VR was a fun experience and played MANY hours in it. I mean how cool is it to turn your head and literally see a sidewinder on a wing and your vertical stabs? But at the end of the day, it just is not there for me yet. It is sort of like when 2 and 4k monitors came out and no PC could handle it without compromise... now they can. VR just needs time. The other slight worry for me, at least when it comes to the future of DCS, is that most of the manufactures of HMDs are investing in cheaper standalone models. Most are not trying to attack pixel density and viewing degrees. More of the market for VR is in the gimmicky google earth apps, games, etc. not flight sims. Pimax is really the only company looking to address stuff like that - but as Wags said... it's not there yet in his own interview. Both DCS and the hardware to support it.
  14. I’m paying $800 on a Vive Pro, $1200 on a 2080Ti, $200 on a water block and an additional $300 for accessories (light house, Wands, tripods, etc.). If I have to do more than spend $2500 to get top tier performance and cannot then the product is broken. My past threads have highlighted the pros and cons of a VR/non-VR setup. The OP is asking specifically about performance. You’re not going to get performance with VR. You might be able to put aside the crappy graphical reductions you have to make and the lower crispness, but others cannot and it would not be fair for someone inquiring about performance, among otherthings, to not be keenly aware of what sacrifices would need to be made to move over to VR. Most folks want a good looking game. VR does not enable that; period. Yes you get immersed in a 3D cockpit, but you do not get superb clarity and that’s just, again a limitation of VR in DCS.
  15. Let me be completely honest. I just went through buying the vive, then the vive pro, upgrading for a 1080Ti to a 2080Ti on a fully custom liquid loop. If you plan on playing multiplayer with lots of clients and assets on the map you have to completely sacrifice visual quality for the sense that you're immersed in a cockpit. After almost a month playing around with the Vive Pro, it's getting returned back to Amazon. DCS does NOT do well in VR with lots of things going on, end of story. This morning I cranked up DCS will full, max grapgics on my 34" 1440p monitor, buttery smooth 100 fps and I realized then and there - that VR has about 5-10 more years before the HMDs themselves evolve and the hardware in computers (and code) is better suited to support it.
  16. In fairness, it's only DCS that has this issue. Other games that are far more optimized do NOT have this issue. Even ones that have far more visual features.
  17. Honestly, all 3: VKB, VPC and TMWH have grips that are all about the same. Each have pros/cons or something you might prefer in one over the other. For me, I cannot stand the short Hat-switch movement of the VKB/VPC. The TMWH Trimmer hat feels so much better. But anyone would be happy with any of those options. I'm particularly interested in the new VPC stick with additional push buttons on hats. But I don't think I'll get over the the TMWH hat switch.
  18. Hello - When extracting the Viacom folder in the zipfile to the Voiceattack/Apps folder nothing happens. No initialization is done in creating additional folders. is the .dll file broken? I'm using the latest updated zip from your site.
  19. Hey - couple of questions. 1) I placed my order back on Jan 4th and have not heard anything. I have misplaced my actual order number, but just curious how overall you are progressing with January orders. 2) I have a different idea for this thumb stick. I want to add it to my VPC Throttle. I would wire it through an Ardunio board and effectively have 2 USB connections coming out of the throttle; 1 for the throttle itself and the other for the ardunio board. Your calibration utility I assume is only for intergration with the TMWH throttle itself and if I bypassed that and just went with the ardunio I suspect I would only need to use Windows calibration - correct? You might not know the answer to that but figured I'd at least validate the first part that your calibration utility is for the TMWH itself. Thanks!
  20. Update: My overclock is definitely not the issue. I saw less performance dialing down to 5.0 from 5.3. I did turn shadows to flat only and saw huge performance gains. I'm able to have MSAA on 2x and I'm floating around 40-45 fps I think. I didnt think the shadows would cause so much issue. I'm going to continue to play with settings. My Vive Pro comes today so I'm hoping that will improve the visual quality.
  21. The 8700 is delided and I use liquid metal thermal. The only time it has encountered an issue is 6 hours of CPU stress tests. No game is going to push it that hard and that long. It's a completely brand new computer built from the ground up back in October and this is the first time I've messed with VR on my system. Every other application/game has flawless performance. It's just DCS in VR that is getting craptacular performance. Elite Dangerous is fine. I'm still investigating though. I might try to dial back CPU performance, as you suggested just to see.
  22. Did all of that and still 30fps even with Motion Smoothing off. When I turn off MSAA I get 45FPS unless I look at objects then it drops.
  23. PC Specs: 8700K @ 5.3ghz 1080Ti +200/+500 32GB RAM 1TB SSD for DCS 3 giant radiators keeping things cooled @ 40c under load Issue I'm getting absolutely garbage frames in DCS. I've spent the better part of this weekend changing settings and I still cannot read the DDIs and worse my frames are dropping under 30 unless I am in open ocean with nothing around. I've even tried using the Stock VR settings for DCS and still my frames are at 30. Steam VR is at 100%. I have tried messing with DCS @ 1.0 and Steam VR between 100-200% and I just am not having any luck with this. I probably could deal with the lackluster visual quality if it was not for me unable to see the DDIs clearly unless I rub my face into them. I've turned off MSAA and that makes things look substantially worse, but yes with significant performance improvements. MSAA off is probably a deal breaker for me. I have messed with the motion smoothing in Steam VR. It makes things a bit better, however if I look far off my left or right should my sidewinders/stabsa start to jitter/glitch all over the place Please help - I very much enjoy the VR experience, but as of now It's feeling quite gimmicky in DCS. And I'm likely aiming to return the headset unless I can get these performance issues ironed out. Here are my settings:
