Not sure what's causing this, and haven't noticed it before in installed the gtx 970's. Drivers are 350.12 Actually much worse than this with certain TIR head positions and aircraft. Any ideas ??

I think i've got a broken install, cause im seeing some funny stuff, wings disappear, and gun does not fire from the center of the hud cue.. Someone said there a repair option found in the all programs\eagle dynamics. But i don't get that option. Any advise welcome. if i remove the auto upddate.cfg file, will that force a reinstall ? Thanks

Yes Piers, Same thing here. Get over it by 'zooming out' but not a real solution.

Check out the windows command 'MKLINK'. It allows you to create a kind of short cut which windows sees as a local folder. This allowed me to move some games to my new SSD, and keep others in the original Steam folder, without making any changes to steam. (you just need to keep a record of the folders, as they cannot be differentiated from the real folders!!)

You might find this useful. Check out 5.mins in.

Hi All, EDIT. Ive got a pretty good FOV setting in most aircraft now for surround. Here's what i did. 1. Set resolution to the second 5760x1200 option from the list (aspect comes up as 4.8 ) 2. Renamed the file .......\DCS World\Config\View\SnapViewsDefault.lua (so DCS would not use it. Note i dont use snap views, so this might not be a good idea if you use them). 3. I use the TIR z for the zoom control, and a stick rotary for the absolutelongitudinalcamerashift control I found two settings in various files which hit the mark. And i found a recommended setting for these with triple screens, in the Mig21 module, which helped. The settings i used were For A10a, A10c, Su25, Su25t, P51, changed them in the following function in the file .....\DCS World\Config\View\Server\lua function default_fighter_player(t) local res = { CameraViewAngleLimits = {60,175}, CameraAngleRestriction = {false,120,0.5}, For the KA50, same file .....\DCS World\Config\View\Server\lua but function ViewSettings["Ka-50"] = { Cockpit = { [1] = {-- player slot 1 ......... CameraViewAngleLimits = {60,175}, CameraAngleRestriction = {false,120,.5}, For the Mig21, file is .......DCS World\Mods\aircraft\MiG-21BIS\Entry\03_Views.lua function is ViewSettings = { Cockpit = { [1] = { --/N/ unlimited ............ CameraViewAngleLimits = { 60.0, 175.0 }, ............... CameraAngleRestriction = {false, 120.0, 0.50}, For the Mi-8, file is ......\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\Mi-8MTV2\views.lua For the Uh-1,file is ......\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\Uh-1Haviews.lua For the TF-51,file is ......\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\TF-51D\views.lua function for all of these of these is ViewSettings = { Cockpit = { [1] = {-- player slot 1 ........ CameraViewAngleLimits = {60,175}, CameraAngleRestriction = {false,120,0.5}, ........................ }, Please feel free to add to this post, if this information changes in future patches, or for additional aircraft which i have not covered.

Can someone please explain some things to a newbie?
Fish replied to Barnstormer1126's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
BETA Years ago games were just released which were really not finished. Public complained and flamed, and publishers, were under pressure to fix them through many patches over a long time. Customers were disenchanted. Flight sims suffered more than other genre's because the market was niche, publishers were generally small, and the software was complex. Now publishers, release their 'beta' versions, which are not much different to the quality of full releases in the early days of sims. But now the customer buys it with eyes open, and the expectation of bugs which will be fixed. Net result is the early adapters get their hands on the software, but don't have anything to compain about (though some still do). The publisher gets some dosh in so they can continue to improve the product, and the early adaptors become the beta testers. So win win. A much better development model. -

Why do I have to trim the A10C on takeoff now?
Fish replied to Dudester22's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
T/O trim button is part of start up sequence, after switching the SAS channels, and at takeoff. Trim-reset command performs the same, except it does not have to be held down. Both 'untrim' the aircraft. I don't notice any difference in the performance after take off. I always clean the aircraft first, before attempting to trim. Event if it is, i would not be too concerned. Trim position is not an absolute on the A10 (it is not measured), you adjust mostly by feel, and fine tune it with your instruments to get smooth level coordinated flight. A little more / less, no big issue. -
Hi all, this module is causing DCS to crash before getting intothe 3d world. When i de-active it, everything else works fine. I removed it from the Mod folder, the , demoMods folder the saved game folder, then from the download, ran the install again. Same problem. Don't want to do a full reinstall, so if there's any other advice, would be happy to hear it. Cheers EDIT: Solved. Found 2 files, mi8_protect.dll mi8_protect.exe in the root Bin folder. When i removed them and installed, worked fine!

Mine is rock solid, once im off the rocker switch on my hotas. User DIView to check out your controllers outside the game.

Yes, A10 uses images, with different scales. They are matched with the TAD ranging, and swap when the range threshold is reached. I either keep it in manual, or swich maps off all together. Putting maps in manual gives very little information except when the map matches the currently set TAD range. Its old technology.

does an install repair delete your key assignments?
Fish replied to the_soupdragon's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I just 'zip' up the full C:\...your user name....\Gerry\Saved Games\DCS folder. That way you get all the user files and settings, and you can swap back if necessary. -
Cheers for the heads up. Everything else works, so i'll leave well enough alone, until i intend to use this module.

Title says it. My game crashes with this active. Tried 'binning' it from the module manager, and adding it back from the 'avaliable addons on module manager. Also downloade it stand alone, and after binning, installed from the exe file. Same result everything crashes before the 3d world loads. Anyone else having this issue ?

I just updated to 1.2.9.30604 Getting the same result. Game crashes when i try to get into the 3d world. Message says it cannot open the 'debrief' file. I notice 2 error lines in common with the original poster (849 & 346) , lines 244 and 245 Any thoughts welcome. POST UPDATE Got it working. Problem is with a single module. See image. When this module is enabled, game crashes before the 3d world each time. When it's disabled as in the image, everything works fine. me.log....... === Log opened UTC 2014-07-27 23:54:24 00000.000 INFO EDCORE: createSerialQueue IOQueue 00000.002 INFO VFS: Using 'Saved "On the Range" Tutorial Series featuring the A-10C
Fish replied to Bunyap's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Just watched a couple of your A 10 videos. Really Great job. Subscribed! As someone who's made some videos, i have an idea of the time you have spent putting them together. Looks like a great reference set for this amazing study sim. Keep them coming! -
DCS Visrtual Cockpit for Android (iControl DCS)
Fish replied to boarder2's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Looks great, but Unless i works in full screen mode, its not a runner for me, cause i have to be in full screen to use my gpu's in SLI. If there's a work around i love to hear it. Cheer.s -
Well there is a cross wind limit for all aircraft. In the A10 the hud is limited in size, so its gona get to its 'limit' of movement probbly before the 25knot cross wind mark (don't ask me what it is cause i was never in desperate need of knowing it). In that case you can't rely on following the TVV. The drift/co hud is merely a 'flight aid'. You cant' simply throw you hands up in the air and bail out, if it hits the limit!! So. you need to then do a judgement of your crab angle using some other datum on the cockpit which intercepts the runway. Track with it for a bit, if you are sill drifting you are not pointing enough. You get the picture. It might require you to do a go around, if you haven't got it on the first try. I know it does not sound like a 'clean' solution, but real flying in variable weather is like that. We are all a bit spoiled with A10, with its hud and avionics. Most of us virtual pilots have managed to escape, basic flight school, and flying in cross winds with nothing except the basic instruments to help. Real pilots would have learned to do that in something like a C172. Nice thing about basic flight training is, it works for all advanced aircraft no matter which, so if push comes to shove, it help you get along without the fancy stuff. Excessiveheadspace video is best i've seen on the subject (Yurgon's link above). Hope this helps.

You don't use rudder to keep aligned, that's very inefficient, and frankly unstable. You 'point' the aircraft into the wind, when lined with it. The Hud symbology in the A10 corrects, by shifting out of the wind. so to center it, you are forced to point 'upwind' So you 'crab' into the threshold. I tend to describe the hud as being 'blown downwind'. Helps me remember where the wind is comming from. Then before touch down, apply rudder to straighten it up with the runway. If the wind is strong you might need to apply a little roll down of the windward wing. Also keep the nose up as long a possible after touch down, as its easier to control on the two wheels at this point. These CAS support aircraft are designed with large tail areas, which can make them a challenge to handle in high cross winds after wheels down. Hope this helps.
-
What about putting the waypoint say 5 miles further away from the target area, so you are less likely to overfly it. You will need to be ofay with intercepting the flight line, if you need to go around again. Won't work in missions where you cant dictate the wp's.

PAPADOC FLYING A-10...wishing it was Pink hehe
Fish replied to papadoc's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
PapaDoc, You were one of the great 'oracles' of flight sims back in the very early days. Good to see you are well, and getting back into simulation. Yes indeed the world has changed since those days. -
The mouse cursor is only there for presentation in Su25, it does not enable you to carry out any pit functions. To enable it LALT c. Su25 does not, unfortunately, have a 'clickable' pit. You should probably post aircraft specific questions in the relevant Aircraft forum. Helps everyone.

Benefits of new CPU but same graphics card
Fish replied to Lascaille's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Have you considered another 670gtx for SLI, I get significant boost when i added the second one. I'll test when i get back, and give an indication of the difference, but i expect i'm getting maybe a 70% boost.
