This doesnt make much sense. Why would they 'test' their designs by filling in calculated/measured data from real world planes/models? I think you got it backwards.

So the vector forces are calculated on the fly based on real world coefficient data, but at different points instead of the entire surface of an air-foil? (which would be almost impossible to calculate without a super-computer) And the difference between the SFM and the AFM is simply the number of points that are used to simulate the behaviour over the different surfaces of the aeroplane. Ok this makes a lot more sense. Thanks for clarifying that up. So to get back on topic, since they are using real-world coefficient data the 3d model used would really be irrelevant to how the plane behaves in the sim.

But thats exactly how the scripted SFM works. So whats the difference between a 'table' or 'chart' SFM and the AFM then? The AFM is supposed to calculate effects on the fly, I.E. as the airflow changes during flight dynamics the aircraft responds not according to a preset table but acording to sum vector forces acting on the different surfaces. I understand that its simplified somewhat and that they do use wind tunel data as a base from which to pull the force vectors, but the sim should be pulling these out of a database on the fly so to speak, and on every surface. At least this is how its advertised on their main site.

Im pretty sure that making an AFM doesnt make sense on an aerodynamicaly wrong 3d model. Unless they arent simulating airflow over the entire model. Which would be kind of a cop out? Right?

Anyone else find it rather ironic that this thread was moved to chit-chat and yet the DCSW - awesome thread resides comfortably at the top of the 'DCS World' subforum?

I for one have stopped playing due to the numerous bugs and the general incompleteness of nearly every module there is. Huey - The campaign bugs are killing me here, no date on when or if they will be fixed. Mi-8 - Very little activity on this front from Belsimtek Mustang - Very bland campaign, not really much to do atm with this plane except duel in multiplayer and some aerobatics flying. A10C - The most complete product, its the only product that I can recommend 100%. If you got the will and stamina to learn all the ins and outs of the plane its very rewarding. I cant comment on the other modules as I dont own them, Im currently waiting for the F15C FC3 module and AFM. In general if you like flight sims DCS is definitely as good as it gets, its also very sad that its the best there is because it could really be so much better. With EDGE incoming who knows whats next, but Im kind of losing hope at the moment because I cant play my favorite modules due to the numerous bugs that completely ruin the game experience for me.

So November is behind us, and no news is good news right? ;)

I have to agree with this.

I dont think its a power problem, otherwise you would have BSOD failures or even power downs during your gameplay. Its definitely a graphics card problem, take it back and use that warranty.

This is just your guess work. There is no official release date for the AFM and the module.

AFM == Advanced Flight Model. The FC3 F15C and the standalone module will be exactly the same. If you already own FC3 no purchase is necessary, the FC3 module will get the AFM update. Basically its for people (like myself) who want to fly the F15 but dont want to purchase FC3 to do so.

I thought the same thing, but somehow he pulls out just by yanking on the collective and just a slight push on the cyclic. Which. shouldnt. be. possible? (At least it doesnt work that way in DCS :lol:) In any case serious flying, the guy has balls of steel. Im guessing they make you sign a hefty document before letting you on the chopper...

Really, really horrible example. So they have a fancy hangar module. Woooooow. Yeah ed really have a lot to learn from CR and his ilk. If & When he releases a a proper game Chris Roberts might be held up as an example, until then he is nothing better than a snake oil salesman...:music_whistling:

Was just about to ask, any (un)official updates?

A question about the Oculus to those who have tried it. Something I cant figure out from the youtube videos. Does it project the image using standard FOV settings, or does it give you the peripheral vision as well. Let me clarify. Does it feel like you are looking out of your own eyes or do you still feel that you are looking at (well through as its 3d) a square or round persicope or binocluars?? Another way to ask would be, can you move your eyes left and right to focus on different objects in your FOV or do you still need to focus straight ahead and do you still feel like you are looking through a rectangular (or round) window? Much appreciated.

Ive stopped playing. Its just too rough round the edges. They are going to be a while fixing the things that need fixing, and especially (re)introducing some game mechanics that are inexplicably missing from the game. I have no doubt that they will patch it into something decent and MODders will make it fantastic. Right now Im having a lot of fun with XCOM: EW, while I wait for the F15C....(please be end of november, please....)

Sorry man, but this thread/poll is rather pointless. I didnt vote. Yes everyone would love a Vietnam map. No there is no way we can make a third party developer stop doing what they are doing and focus on that.
